  1. Romney. a hard right-winger?? If you think that it says quite a bit about your perspective. Name a Republican you don't consider a "Hard Right Winger" You Hard Left-Winers crack me up.

  3. Then the cop would be even more suspicious because they claimed they had just cashed their paychecks.
  4. They do that already and have been doing so for a long, long time. So does the Attorney General. Leading by example.
  5. Good point. Since the number of unemployed is a campaign issue, this is a way to make the % of unemployed look lower than it really is. If this is true, it's really pathetic and it shows how desperate Obama is.
  6. Questioning someones motivation to commit a crime has always been part of our legal system. It's also one of the main tool police use during criminal investigations.
  7. This has to be the most ridiculous thing I've read so far today. This is the kind of tactic that makes for a very efficiently run police state. Once the authorities are given full discretion to stop, question, and abuse people for all kinds of minor offenses the stage is set for tyranny. Why not just let the police stop and question anyone at any time for whatever reason (pretty much the situation we have in America today)? Won't that lead to even more apprehensions of real criminals? Of course. And if the circumstances allow it, it becomes very easy to focus on any group in society and make their lives absolutely miserable in a perfectly legal way. "Your papers please!" Law enforcement ebbes and flows. In NYC before Gulliani cracked down on criminals people were being shot, robbed and mugged. After the crack down even his critics agreed that the streets were much safer. Once they had the streets under control, they were able to back off. Sort of like the Surge worked during the war. But, I'm sure you were against that too. Only in liberal Never, Never Land does the criminal decide to be a law abiding citizen without coersion from the police.
  8. it's not pertinent to the case - unless we are now in a thought police state only actions matter I disagree. The charge of racism is certaainly important to this case. That is what has been claimed as GZ's motivation. That he was a "white-hispanic" and that he became suspicious of TM because he was black. Race is why Sharpton and the other poverty pimps including the New Black Panthers were in Florida. Now that it has been shown that GZ was not in any way a racist, the prosecution has lost a huge part of their argument.
  9. That is pretty funny isn't it? The chicken would still have to cross the road legally, in a crosswalk.
  10. We don't get to pick and choose which laws to obey. Nor is the police officer there to get into a debate with a citizen and show him the law. That's what we have courts for. If this idiot had a problem, he should have complied with the officers requests. If he wanted to complain about it, he coud have contacted this officers CO and filed a complaint or if he felt his civil rights had been violated, he could file a lawsuit. Challenging a police officer who is trying to do his job will never have a good outcome.
  11. Rudy Guiliani is credited with cleaning up NYC and making it a much safer place to live. He did this by instructing his police officers to arrest and/or ticket people for everything. What they found is that many criminals have no respect for the law and hence, tend to be the ones that jaywalk etc. By stopping jaywalkers and asking for ID's they found many who were wanted on warrants and were able to take them into custody and get then off the streets. I think these police officers acted correctly. They confronted a person who had just committed a crime, small as it may be and when the person became beligerent, I'm sure it raised their suspicions that something was wrong. Most people would have just pulled out their ID and been on their way with just a warning. Even if they were ticketed, they could have gone into court and fought the ticket. This guy clearly had an attitude, so did his friend. I'm sure the police thought he was hiding something and that's why they persued him. What would you have had them do? Say, "oh, you don't want to show ud your ID? OK, have a nice day, sorry to have bothered you". I'm always amazed at how people want something done about crime and then complain when the police legally enforce the law.
  12. Whether it's a PR stunt or not, it's still refreshing to see any politician articulate his positions without the pandering bullshit. When was the last time you saw that?
  13. Well, you got one thing correct.
  14. Got to give the guy credit for walking into the lions den and not pandering to them. Something Obama won't do.
  15. http://factcheck.org/2012/07/factcheck-to-obama-camp-your-complaint-is-all-wet/ Of course this will not slow the extreme left down as they have developed a Tourettes like response to all questions about Obama. Q:Unemployment rate A: "Bain Capital" Q: The Economy A: "He's a rich white guy" Q: The Deficit A: "He shipped Jobs to China" Q:Fast and Furious A: "Bain Capital, White Guy, Rich Guy" Q: He spoke to NAACP A: Proves he's a Racist, Racist, Racist, Racist Q: Immigration A: "Swiss Bank Account" Seriously, is this the best you Left-wingers can do?
  16. So a statement such as "So far this year, there have been 15,055 record highs, but only 1,343 record lows in the USA. That's a ratio of 11:1 " Would be an incorrect assessment?
  17. Because the average temperature trend is not monotonic (due to variance and confounding variables), we can select a short time period with endpoints chosen specifically to "show" that the average global temperature was not increasing over that period. The greater the variance from one time period to the next (in this case, from one year to the next), the more important it is to use longer time periods if we wish to observe any statistically significant trends that may exist. In other words, short time periods of 10-15 years are pretty useless for observing long term temperature trends. So statistics caused the temperatures to flatten out and not some environmental reason?
  18. I'm assuming it's a lot like when John Kerry would berth his yacht in another state to avoid huge tax bills The difference is that Kerry was calling for higher taxes on the wealthy, while at the same time doing everything he could to avoid taxes. "hypocrisy" arguments are pointless - both are avoiding taxes using legal means. Even though it's legal, it's a loop hole and they should be rightly criticized. Sorry, I disagree. Criticism for obeying the law are non-productive.
  19. I never stated that massive numbers of people who didn't commit a crime have been put in jail because of their race. So first you claim: Now you claim you didn't say it was a massive problem. If insinuating that these people are being jailed unjustly isn't the definition of a massive problem, then give me an example of what is.
  20. What injustices? You haven't provided a single shred of evidence that massive numbers of people who didn't commit a crime have been put in jail because of their race.

  22. I give up on providing links and showing you that many seniors are far from wealthy. Ever consider that there may be a difference between a senior and a retiree? I have yet to see a (serious) Republican politician make the claim that SS can be tweaked due to seniors being so wealthy and them not needing it. Ever wonder why they offer 'senior discounts" everywhere? http://www.usatoday.com/money/economy/income/story/2011-11-06/wealth-gap-young-old/51098910/1 Nobody is saying that ALL Seniors are wealthy. However, they do constitute the wealthiest segment of our society. You really need to stop defaulting to the most extreme examples when trying to make a point. The unfortunate reality is that SS must be means-tested. It's not fair but it's what must be done. Senior Discounts are nothing more than a marketing strategy. My company offers them. We also offer discounts for veterans, families of veterans and discounts if you know someone who's a veteran. We also offer discounts to various clubs and organizations. Ever read the fine print on restaurant advertising that offers discounts to seniors? It specifies the discounts are only good on certain days at certain times. These are the least busy times at the restaurants and they are trying to generate some business. Same with movie theaters etc. It's all about marketing.
