  1. I can easily reach 2 hands per handle on my S-3 (can't vouch for other suits but don't believe it's a problem on any of them). It is certainly something to check on in case of a hard pull. In rereading my post I noticed that I may not have been real clear though. I use one hand per handle and advocate the practice. Hasn't failed me yet. I've never had a problem with stuck velcro on the cutaway handle either. When I grab the pillow I definitely mean business. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  2. Can ZP canopies be used to jump large flags?Quote Yes. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  3. An advantage to using one hand per handle is not having to move your hands over to the reserve handle after you chop. Even if you don't lose visual contact with the reserve handle (a real possibility when the harness shifts and your body position does also) you are losing time. Two hands is faster, a real advantage if you have a low cutaway. No matter which method is chosen though, practice the one you prefer and get a canopy out in time to survive. V-2?

If it doesn't you can always jump here. We have clouds all year long. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  5. If you think Snohomish is beautiful, and it is, you should check out Northwest Skydivers at Conway (just south of Mt. Vernon). Mountains, valley, rivers and the islands. Eye-popping views! Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  6. Yup. And then chop it when you don't want it anymore. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  7. Nice job on the website Jeanne, a big help to a startup DZ. Did Den take the cover pic? (That's Jeff B, airport owner and Jeff B, tandem instructor. Looking fine in my freefly suit I might add.) The DZ is right on, best vibe around. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  8. More specifically night wingsuit jumps. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  9. You did two 180 degree and one 90+ degree turns under 300'. I'm happy that you survived relatively unhurt. Damn right you got lucky, turning low to avoid obstacles is a killer. Practice flat turns until they become an instinct. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  10. My slightly opionionated amendment to Rob's post: Steering/brake lines should (MUST) always have a knot or a few stitches in the bottom end. If fingertraps aren't secured they will inevitably come loose. IMHO the best way to secure toggles to brakelines is: Fingertrap the line leaving about 3/4" loop. Run the excess (tag end) line up inside as far as you can. I run mine all the way to the cat's eye fingertrap. Knot the line immediately above the loop with a simple overhand knot. Secure the line to the toggle. If you don't know the correct method ask your rigger. The advantage to this method is that it allows for adjusment to the lower brake line as the brake line shrinks or as you feel the need for a change in length. Simply undo the knot, pull out the fingertrap and re-do to a new length. Done carefully no compromise is made to line strength. All other fingertraps on my lines are stitched. 11. Nice flight Scott, perfect first wingsuit jump. Also a fun video (thanks Tony, nice editing by Scott). Your posting on Real Video is much appreciated by Mac users without wmv capability. Looking forward to flocking with you soon. Cacawwwww Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  12. If you can swing it get certified at home. Then you can spend your time diving on Oahu instead of taking lessons. It will also set you up with your local dive shop at home for future diving. They probably can offer some advice about diving Oahu too. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  13. MMMMMMM, pussy whip. One of my favorite flavors. One of my favorite toys too. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  14. I'd sure like to see the race between you and Jeanne. What are you gonna do, hang on to her chest strap and open real low? Oh ya, dey'll be some flockin goin on at Barker ya betcha. Up for an 8-way flock from a Porter? Ground launching didn't go so well yesterday at Baker, it's harder than it looks. Is my Vamp ready yet? Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  15. Don't use wax to hold it together. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  16. I'm going to have an S-3 for sale in about 8 weeks, (it won't fit you Scott and I wouldn't reccommend it as a first suit) I'm 5-9 /165 and have the suit maxed for size. A better fit on 5-7 or 5-8 150 lbs. I think that Jim sold his GTI to Tyson but I'll keep an ear open for you. Welcome in advance to the flock! Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  17. Cloud clearances were maintained at all times during the jump, it might have been someone that looked like me.. Thanks Tony for the vid, a very cool thing to do coinsidering you could have been on wing instead. BTW that was the, um, original jump on a V-1. 2 more jumps were made, my double liked it enuf to buy one. The suit was amazing even though it was made for someone about 5 inches taller. 18. Jim totally rocks!! Not to mention Tony! And thanks Morpheus for sending a V-1 demo, what a cool thing to do. Also real smart business as I plan on getting a V-1 or V-2 ASAP. Thanks Seattle Skydivers, I think I reaped the most benefit by far on this demo day. To say that I was impressed would be somewhat of an understatement. I'm a fucking birdmannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnowwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  19. Second jump on a brand new rig a few years ago. Last year on a mal repack a few hours old my rigger said, as I was heading to the plane, " I'll give you 10 bucks off a repack if you chop it again". "Yeah sure" I replied. I held him to it too. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  20. I've used monofilament fishing line for kite flying. Once had over 4000 feet of 4lb. test out, don't know how high the kite was. Took forever to reel it in. I don't think you can hurt yourself too badly with 4lb. line but ya never know. Kite swooping sounds like fun if the kite is a cheap stick/paper job so it (hopefully) won't hurt when someone hits it. 21. I kinda appreciate those ads, they tell me in ten-foot-high letters to avoid doing business with them. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  22. SABRES ARE EVIL. THEY SHOULD BE BANNED. EVERYONE SEND YOUR HORRIBLE DEVIL-POSSESED SABRES TO ME SO THE WORLD WILL BE SAFE AGAIN! thankyouverymuchididntmeantoyell Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  23. Me too. Interestingly my 120 Sabre has far less front riser pressure than my Xaos 98 though they obviously have different recovery arcs. I bought the 120 Sabre for wingsuit jumps although I have changed to a 120 Cobalt. The reason I chose the Sabre was for it's tameness, a good quality in a wingsuit canopy. Since it's loaded at 1.6 though it can build up a pretty good head of steam swooping but it bleeds off that speed fairly quickly. I've also used it for a demo landing on asphalt. Sabres, like Stilettos (i've owned a couple of those too) are good canopies. Clearly they have been replaced by more modern designs with improved opening, handling and landing qualities. That doesn't make Sabres bad, dangerous or unairworthy. Not even obsolete. Particularly if you want an inexpensive and docile canopy. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  24. I jumped it out of an airplane before I bought it. I already mentioned that it opens well. Since I bought it from a friend I know that it has no history of hard openings. I'm curious, what experience do you have on a Sabre? Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  25. I just bought a Sabre 150 for ground launching that opens, flies and lands just fine, it is still a very good skydiving canopy. I paid $300. I previously bought a nice Sabre 120 for $350. Original Sabres are hands down the best deals out there. I think it's great that people have your attitude, it keeps the prices down. Thanks for your help! Sometimes you eat the bear..............
