my first for pay reserve pack. Jesus that was hard. You know what they say though. If it was easy everyone would do it

Well maybe your hardware is just brittle because of your ultra gaseous nature. Come to think of it I shouldn't have brought my rig in the packing room...

If you go a few hundred jumps with a helmet then suddenly don't wear one you realize how loud freefall is. If anything a helmet might save your ears

Likely, spyware has invaded your computer and placed the same ad on other ad sites. Try going to other sites and see if the same ad pops up--if it does then run adaware or some other spyware removal program.

How many of you DON'T wear altimeters?

I think I did a good 200 jumps without one this summer. Mine did a solo from 2000 ft after I opened. -
From the looks of your profile it seems like in addition to a new BASE canopy you need about 200 more skydives...

What would everyone think about a forum for the family/friends of skydivers? One where they could possibly learn more about the sport and voice concerns to one another. I guess the forums do that in general. It would probably be self-defeating, but I just thought about it....

Hopefully they won't outsource riggers soon

What is the difference? Cany anyone give an example of a minor alteration that a Senior Rigger can perform? I assume major would be taking the harness off and putting it back on or something to that effect. Or patching a load bearing rib/seam?

I do what the moment requires... Some times if I'm a little short I may go into brakes so I can make my starting point before I start my turn. Other times I need a little rears before I start it. Depends on what you have to do to make the gates... As for practically I think that starting in brakes does kill your airspeed but if you turn a little higher you can dive for longer and achieve the same speed. Optimally I like to be somewhat close to full flight though.

Come now... Just take out the right bracket: ] backspace over it in the address bar :)

I have to use Mini Risers with my current canopy to pull the slider down behind me. As for BASE its a silly thing to offer and I don't see the point. I do know people who use PD Reserve slinks for BASE.

So far I've: - Fly a wingsuit - Master all freeflying (only to the point where i can dock in all body positions.) - 1,000 jumps or more - Learn how to swoop like an eagle - High Alti Jump - Jump Kjerag or similar big wall - To stay safe Done a few of those :) My main ambition is to stay safe and keep jumping a LONG time.
-
My guess is that a heavy jumper under a larger -M reserve would also run the risk of this defect. The forces acting on a canopy are roughly the same during opening wingload to wingload as there are the same number of attachments and lines. I could be wrong though... I sold mine and got a PD the week of the SB. Partially because if you look in back Parachutist magazines prior to the SB there are a series of reserves that blew up operating "outside manufacturer limits". Pfft.

Considering I only have a couple of jumps with it and my comparison of recent times is the Blackjack, I don't think I have ample experience to say whether or not it inflates faster than a non-composite Ace or Mojo.

If you are a good talker you can likely get out of anything. Some friends and I were caught after a jump on a big building and we got out of it because we were very cordial with the management. Likely you will just be charged with tresspassing.

I've got over 100 barefoot jumps and I love it (even on highly loaded canopies). My main concern with it is landing somewhere where there is sticky stuff. I wouldn't even mind landing on concrete like that, granted my feet are kind of hard. I'd be warned of walking back and stubbing your toe on something. I've seen some nasty stuff where people stubbed their toe on the runway

Do you use the harness to get out of the dive? I'm interested in trying that.
-
I start from just about 700 ft usually. Optimally its very slow starting with possible faster portions as it progresses depending on my altitude. I don't do very much with harness until the bottom end to help line up with the gates and I do major corrections with rears. I imagine I could start it higher but most of the time I am pulling on the riser as hard as I can by the bottom.

I've done 140 or so jumps with contacts in (with no goggles from 0 - 14 second delays and only once had a problem. The one problem was on a 13 second delay where i lost one contact. I noticed everything got a litle blurry on opening. I don't foresee having a problem on a delay as short as that.
-
No difference. I took it stowed from 300 ft a few times.

That would be the same in pack volume as an Ace 280 right? Thanks
