  1. I am just thankful that Peter Pan got us through the night. It was funny but please use extra caution with what you say
  2. Awesome, anyone want to come over for a beer? My address is in the article.
  3. I've been present for 3 PC in tows two on jumps lower than 400 ft and one on a potato state jump. They were all on the Vertex 1. I used to think it was a good idea but now it scares me.
  4. We hung Bryan, Lucas, from a harness. There was no real skydiving, it was all set driven.
  5. It was everything I dreamed it'd be. *bows* Sami is going to turn up pregnant. She was about a month pregnant when this show was shot.
  6. Today's episode has a very cheesy skydiving scene. Check it out if you have access to a TV :) Comes on NBC @ Noon EST.
  7. Why not? It blows the rain away
  8. It's just west of Asheville on exit 20 on I-40. Prices are 100 for 10 minutes and scales up from there, so an hour will cost you $600.
  9. Easiest way is a crab boil, which is a mixture of spices, and boil them till done. Done can range from 2 minutes to 10 minutes.
  10. Just visited the L1 today and did approximately 15 minutes. I have about 5 hours in Skyventure which was dedicated to back flying, sit flying and a little headdown. Overall I was very impressed with the L1. It felt very strong for belly and back flying. I used 3 different suits, Ouragan, Standard Freefly, one of their tunnel suits, for flying over the course of my 15 minutes and my friend used a standard belly suit with no booties. I saw someone using a bootie suit and did the mantis so that can be done as well. I think having 4 people in there, unless they are at the top of their game would be difficult, because when you fall off the column you lose time. Seeing airspeed in there would be a trip. As for differences to Skyventure, the lack of walls makes it difficult to see where you are. I think this will end up being a very large benefit, because if you can sit still without references then you're doing well. I would hold my heading back flying and in the course of turning I'd slide off the air column. This brings us to the next topic of the air column. It is SOLID. It feels the same all the way around and as high up as 20 ft. I saw John Suiter go up at least 30-40 ft, and I've heard he hit the 70 ft mark. The air feels the same at any portion in the column. The ability to do this coupled with mountains in your view make a really awesome flight. No tunnel can come close to competing with that. One other disadvantage to frequent Skyventure people is the entry and exit is a little awkward given the net is sort of like a trampoline. Being able to kick off the net isn't possible here. That is also a sort of advantage because you have to fly off the net in freeflying mode. All in all I think Skyventure will have a run for its money when this gets full-time status. I think the people buying Skyventure tunnels should probably have checked this one out first. PS you don't need ear plugs. If I was working there I'd probably wear them though :) PSS I was also only flying on 50-60% power max.
  11. I jump a Velocity as well and I had so much fun on the Sabre 2. It was also excellent not having to worry about openings for once. The one I was jumping was loaded at about 1.8 to 1 and had some mad crazy swoops on it. I landed with a big smile everytime. If I was independently wealthy I'd certainly have one in my collection.
  12. I got a skydive with the pants + jacket today. Pretty insane forward speed. I felt like the suit was flying me vs the other way around. More practice would be nice. My vertical descent was much higher than normal for my tracking, granted I've gained a little weight and the jacket didn't fit too well. I will probably buy a pair. I exited over 1.5 miles away and made it back and then some.
  13. I almost pissed my pants looking at those. Great job!
  14. Since the hurricane is going to hit where I am on the Gulf Coast dead on, I'm going to head on up there tomorrow. Should be in the area this weekend.
  15. 16. Jesus!!! How have you been? I haven't seen you in like 3 years or something like that! Hope you are doing well. Has Joey been coming around?
  17. I've always been under the impression that tresspassing as it exists in the US isn't present there. You are forbbiden to tresspass on structures, ie homes, but its perfectly fine to be on other peoples property. Kjerag is private property if I remember correctly.
  18. Friday's are good for me too. I need to reline my Velo. Hopefully I'll have that done and be there a week from Friday! Assuming there will be a group. When did Marion get back?
  19. I'll be back in NC in two weeks. I have about 30 min in Flyaway and about 5 hours freeflying in Skyventure. I'll write up a review here when I finally get up that way! The pictures look awesome! How did Joao like it?
  20. No idea... I haven't been on the Ortega since I've lived here. Excellent view in that area though. Wasn't much help was it
  21. You should realize he said: He'd be lucky if the thing didn't explode on him.
  22. Qualified instruction is great as they do offer lots of background information, as well as have the ability to show the jumper if they are digging out of the corner. Newer swoopers certainly need to see this if they are doing it over and over. It is in my experience that qualified instruction does not drill into the slow progression regarding turns, as well as provide the necessary experience needed. Slow progression, which I think is the most important part is straight ins, double fronts, 90s, 180s, and then onto 270s and bigger turns. At each interval you should do A LOT of jumps. This does not mean five 90 degree turns and then do a 180 degree turn. It means at least a hundred. If you do this on every new you will likely develop a site picture that can later save your life when you are digging out of the corner on bigger turns. Once you are able to do 270s you can downsize, but then you have to start over. This means when you are doing 270s at 1.3 and you downsize to a 1.5 you have to start the progression over from scratch because you will not recognize the corner anymore on that canopy and you will bounce. I think I am alive at this point solely because even though I was a terrible canopy pilot at 400 jumps with a too high wingloading. I still stuck to that progression.
  23. Yeah PeeJ you rocked. PeeJ and Colin both cried at the exit point at a Potato State bridge. Colin was crying a little harder than PeeJ when he realized I had packed for him. I'll try to make it to South Africa in the next year. I'm leaving Perris in about a week and a half.
