  1. What if you ask questions. Serious questions. Think things through, and ask more questions...and then get told that, effectively, you should shut your mouth, you don't have enough jump numbers to ask questions, that you are "dense" if you continue to ask questions? What do you do then? Ciels- Michele Quote Say F**k you and go free flying.
  2. I like "de plane" but I no like "De plane crash". Well actually I crash better than anyone I know but I don't like "De plane crash fire". Thats why I sit in the front with my eyes closed so I don't have to look if I don't want to.
  3. One of the lads from babylon brought it and we played it on the big screen on one of the nights during the ten day X-fest. It was the Djs worst nightmare of course during the famous verbier wingswoop when the roar of the crowd drowned out the music, and the music was loud. I can't watch that scene enough.
  4. [No blame implied. Indeed, PD has been pretty good about educating skydivers about how to fly their canopies. Probably better than most manufactures even when the advice relates to other brands products.IMO
  5. Way back in the day, everyone jumped "boring" canopies because that's all that was available. I don't remember anyone I knew quitting the sport because their canopy was boring.Quote Well now you know one, or rather have known one for a while. When I started it was rounds for a hundred jumps minimum, no exceptions. Meanwhile I was forced to watch experienced skydivers dead man face flare, ass pound, knee skid all of their landings horribly. Having never ever jumped a square canopy but have completed 1000's of landings in aircraft I knew I could do better. No exception. So I quit! sixteen years later under my first square canopy ride I was indulging in FULL stalls, tight spirals, NO_LOW_TURNS and an accurate tippy toe landing at the feet of my AFF instructor. With the exception of one AFF landing all where stand up tippy toe right where I wanted them, On video. All were much better than the several hundred jump wizards of decades ago. The ones that knew what was good for me.
  6. I believe that helmet was painted with catylized paint, two part urethanes mostly. I painted my oxygen with the same. If you plan on using cheaper acrylics or sign painters paints you will need a barrier otherwise the cheapo stuff won't stick and it will bubble up. This can be tested of course as it will do this during or shortly after drying. If you are going to scuff it down to the primer then you can put on anything you want. Any auto or sign painters supply house should be able to help you with technical questions. Many super custom painters paint very radical biker helmets as a demo or showcase of their capabilities and it can be done on a small scale. There are many good ideas out there.
  7. I have thought about doing that very thing. Since my tube is a common design I thought others would have come across this and have a common cure. Thanks.

    atmonauti...

I cant picture it.. How does he have hes hands ? He must be hands up i guess ? Gi is a she Gigliola, Picture someone in a stand feet and legs together arms and hands out and up high above the head like in a fast stand. But here is where it gets interesting. Her body is slightly arched and her head is tilted back looking above her travelling while 45 degrees to the horizon. There is a video and still pictures of some of this stuff on this very thread if you look back. There is also a video, I don't have it so don't ask me for it, of Fritz behind her doing a two handed spock on her while also in this atmonauti position. I was on the jump and have seen the video. Nice! We can hope that team frick will be releasing a full length feature showcase video of their stuff in the near future.
  9. That would be that other skydiver fellow Joe kittenjer ( sp ).
  10. Thats great now get back to work! Make a lot of green and take the company public! Slacker.
  11. I have a freefly tube wide enough to attach, via the two ring cuttaway, to both feet. Noramally I route the cuttaway cable underneath my FF suit pants cuff and the fairly tight ankle straps on each foot. Then on to the loops of both the two rings. All of this of course under the jump suit leaving only the handle exposed but secured from moving and at least a foot of excess cable past the two ring closing loops. My problem is that the cable works itself out during the buffeting and ends up jettisoning itself either on one side or both. Any suggestions on how to make everything stay put without making a cuttaway impossible? Also does it seem to matter whether or not the rings face out or in? My guess is like integrity risers is that it matters not.
  12. I Bring knees up like a style tuck to kill forward speed. While bringing my hands back to the center of the BOC, there is a lot of wing trailing edge to deal with so I find the center and move out from there. Throw out and bring hands back in. By this time I've converted from a fast forward flight and I'm well off the hill and pretty much falling straight down. On my classic I have deployed both in fall and in flight but the extra forward speed of the S3 can make the trap door effect very unpleasant.

    atmonauti...

I personally watched Gi do this on 4 jumps. She is not looking in the direction of flight but is rock solid stable, it is amazing. Back flip out the door into the feet first position. Come on all of you other freestylists, lets see you do this . Arnaud your message has been recieved.

    atmonauti...

Yes I will Arnaud I promiss. But if I make Gi angry she won't fly wingsuits with me. Have I told you all we are loving the Atmonauti.

    atmonauti...

I have to correct my previous post. As it has been explained to me that things like the pylon races are only head down but with a forward push. Still not as extreme as the true atmonauti. Marco and GI are here Perris showing x-team members how to do it and they are pulling off moves that are incredible. It seems to have an easy learning curve if you are a decent head down flyer. And the group can be bigger than what you would be comfortable in doing a purely head down big way. Angle to the horizon about 45 degree but that is estimated and that trim is adjustable for the requirements of the jump. Relative wind coming down on your head straight. Flight angle trim is achieved with the body. Hands and legs are used for manuevers and staying on level with the rest, as in a head down. Hopefully there will be film at eleven. Did I mention the X-fest is kickin!
  16. I flew a brand new Demo lightning and it landed beautiful. It wasn't that much different than any other ZP seven cell. I pounded in the first landing after the crew coach had me convinced I had to change my entire flare timing. But on all the landings after that I just went with instinct and was getting wonderful landings. Bare in mind it spanky new out of the bag. They say the shagged out ones land worse, I will go with my instinct next time. And I believe the shagged out lightnings land better with a different flare timing. Some people have trouble landing any seven cell. Take reserves for example. The flare will be different on a reserve because you may be loading F-111 above 1:1 so the timing changes. But I have seen pro swoopers swoop their reserves.
  17. [ Right, that is weird. The wingsuit knowledge without the instruction background is irrelevant. The instruction background without the wingsuit knowledge is even more irrelevant. __________________________________________________ They have plenty of wingsuit experience, some of it with Patrick in the days before Bird-man as we know it today. There are many active famous, high profile skydivers of various disciplines that have maintained a low profile, long time flirtation with wing suit flight. __________________________________________________ I think wingsuit experience is the major factor here. You're comparing apples to alligators. There's the man himself, Jari (1,300+ flights), and Kim (350+ flights) from BirdMan. Some guys with x number of flights. And then a, if I recall correctly, pretty new bird that made a mistake. I think even the non-BMI "experts" made a point out of exiting wings closed, but it happened anyway (that's why we like to take the scare-the-shit-out-of-you approach to plane strike warnings). __________________________________________________ the otter strike wasn't on exit but about twenty some seconds after exit. Both the craft and the jumper were descending on the same side of jump run. And at the time the jumper wasn't considered inexperienced. You could almost say enough jumps to be a BMI. _________________________________________________
  18. he came back down with a shit eating grin on his face and he flew that SF1 the remainder of WFFC and eventually bought it. Quote I thought the bugger bought a new 3? Or does he have three suits now?
  19. JP is not on either of the AFF or post liscening schools staffs at Perris valley. He was a BMI at a previous DZ and now he works for a gear dealer near the DZ. He is available on some weekends with a PM. A few months ago wingsuit instruction may have been handled by the FF school. It would be the equivalent of skydive Arizona relying on Greg Gasson and Omar to instruct in wingsuits based on their vast overal experience and ability to teach. Due to the otter strike perris has been wingsuit conscious and relied on the people with the most wingsuit experience to help sort things out. Like the experience that Jari and kim brought with them on their visits. But in their absence they had to rely on other experts and not someone that had a BMI blessing of dubious origin. And we have seen quite a few. This was the old management and since I'm not their spokesman I have no idea what new policies are in place now. We did take up some of the school staff ( obviously above 500 jumps+ the ability to instruct) on their first flights, even some of the staff at SSD. We talked briefly about their thoughts on getting some of their staff members, that desired, to come up with a program and ratings through BMI.
  20. Some guys stay commited and don't go to a reserve. " you are the only canopy I'll ever need".
  21. I don't see droping the jump number requirements for first flights below the 200 recommended by Bird-man inc. As I wouldn't recommend someone with less than those numbers flying camera or a freefly tube or strapping on a tandem rig. At low jump numbers its hard to have the skills to deal with the added equiptment work load.
  22. Can't we just share a nice raping over this ( with or without video, your choice )? Or if Phree is like your brother, does that make me like your not quite right in the head cousin?
