    BASE rigs are much more reliable that skydiving ones. Yes, shit happens, but where doesn't it? That's superstition, superstition is like religion - BULLSHIT (the friday 13th thing), the 1300 ft pull is your choice, I don't judge you in any way..     Everything is evolving, people have to realize that old things won't stay forever, there will always be something that will replace them.. Some DZ's still operate SL courses, but still, most of them do AFF's.. In a way you can learn more during an SL course, but I believe that AFF is more efficient and shit loads more fun (you're going to learn stuff while skydiving anyway).. They ain't harming anyone by doing that and if they failed, the result would only harm them (permanently).     I jumped quite a few hop'n'pops from 1200 meters (4000 feet) and the normal 13.5k feet jumps and opened at ~2000 feet (just for the kicks) quite a few times. I don't see what's the big deal, it's not low.. "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
