  8. I suspect that Sangi's point was that our attitude toward what is "safe" or at least a reasonable level of risk will change over time, not that we all develop a death wish. For example, my first canopy was a PD 9-cell 210. I was loading that at about 0.95:1. When I first started, I never used front risers as part of landing because diving at the ground and increasing my speed during landing was a more advanced and riskier move. I also said that I had no interest in swooping or high performance landings. As I gained skill and experience I started to experiment with double fronts. Today, I jump a Sabre2 150 loaded at about 1.36:1. I often do 90 or 180 front risers turns to land and find such landings fun. I'm no swoop jock just yet, nor is it on my immediate list of goals in the sport, but at the same time, I can see myself transitioning to a Katana at some point, downsizing further and perhaps one day even flying a cross-braced canopy. Couldn't have replied better myself. "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  9. That's what they all say at the start.. Wait a couple of hundred jumps more and you will be singing a different song... "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  10. It's the russian bounce championship, where you have to bounce, survive it and look cool while doing it "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  11. Typical DZ.com reply.. It's funny how everybody automatically comes to the assumption that if someone is asking "how" something is done, he/she will do it... Ya know, some people just want to know more, but not necessarily do it straight away.. Davelepka > yeh I reckoned Brian Germains book would be best.. I was just wondering if there was any material which would educate directly about this discipline..
  12. Just a quick question: are there any books / DVDs that specifically teach about the art of swooping (for a person who has practically little to no knowledge about this discipline)? Cheers "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  13. Don't they come with a slider as well? "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  14. I love atmonauti (from what I've done)... I don't care what all the guys scream and shout about it being shit, just another track, about the "theory" being shit etc etc... You people forget to bash less and enjoy skydiving more
  15. Well it's just my opinion and only mine, so take it with grain of salt (I don't have the experience with it, I just say based on what I've read and heard).. At that many jumps, stick with a regular open face helmet.. Those camera helmets like CC1 have weird shapes, designed for camera use + the cutaway stuff on it which might not help you while skydiving at this stage.. Also when you reach the jump numbers when you can jump one, there might be another new camera helmet which you might like over the older ones and it would kinda be a waste of cash.. "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  16. If you're profile says the truth about your real jump numbers, then you would have to wait for a camera helmet at least 192 more jumps if I'm correct... "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  17. Congrats dude! Now the hard part in skydiving begins... "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  18. I don't see why it is bad to use packer, why do you even need a good reason? You can be a lazy fucker and have cash and let others do the job for you.. why not? It's everybody's free choice to not pack or pack for themselves.. Off course the person is going to have problems later on if he doesn't learn how to, when he does to places where he will need to pack for himself, but again it's everybody's free choice.. "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kfPrW9olbM&feature=rec-HM-r2 How often has anyone of you seen this happen? I love how the student has no idea of what happened and just smiles lol "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  20. Well I dunno about spotting, when you have to exit in about 4-5 seconds and do not delay... "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  21. How are you gonna spot a plane that even isn't there yet (like in this vid, the plane was passing by just when the skydiver was in freefall)? Also, goodluck spotting on a twin turbo L-410 with 22 people on board waiting for you to quickly get your ass out the door.. "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  22. Seems like he saw that plane coming but didn't pull early, kinda weird... "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
  23. You only say this now.. Just wait till like a few hundred more jumps, I'm pretty sure this will all change That's what I thought when I was doing AFF, I saw all that freeflying, swooping and I said screw this shit, all I want is to get down safely with no hassle.. But now I want to do everything + BASE... "Dream as you'll live forever, live as you'll die today." James Dean
