  1. Totally true. I ride because I love to ride. I greet all bikers with the same enthusiasm. It's just a shame that HD guys (at least here in the US), act like they do toward SB'er's. I don't care where your bike was built. It's still....the freedom of it all.
  2. Morning! jUST finished a couple nice cups of joe. It's raining......leaving for lunch with friends
  3. That's sick!! 400??! My stock C14 puts out something like 150 to the tire. It really is my magic carpet ride... I have a few things to do to it!
  4. True....true. And I have the gearing and 1352cc's that'll launch my C14....a screamer by most stock anything...'cept a Busa.
  5. Yeah, I passed a couple HD guys the other day, just eased by them. Next thing I know, they grab a bunch of throttle and "blow" by me. I just watched. Realizing that I could give them a mile head start and still catch him easily if I wanted...
  6. The FZ1's are a sporty thing. And quick. Yep, luv the FZ1 but for longer rides on something that's wicked also, the Kawa C14 is the machine. Seamless power and crazy torque.. Truth be told I haven't mod'd either bike, but think I'll do some work on the Kawa this winter........
  7. I have 2 in my stable. 06' Yamaha FZ1 08' Kawasaki C14 (in Europe it's a GTR1400) Both bikes are sheep in wolfs clothing. Unreal performance and makes me smile everytime I ride em'....... Been riding for over 20 yrs..!
  8. I must've found the best ever, cause my doctor's office has never (granted I only see her a couple x per year), been late..even a minute. Now when I was in the military......different story!
  9. I've got a letter kinda like that floating around also, but involved flying a jump plane and something about an engine failure due to "fuel starvation"..... Hey, I was young stupid fuck back then! p.s. I've thrown a load of Flying Elvis' out near Kerrville, TX one night at 1 am......
  10. Got the Sep issue today. Well, haven't checked the mail in a couple days..so...
  11. QuoteI read for fun, but I never read fiction. I love non-fiction instead. Why do so many people assume that you can only read fiction for fun? I get just as much, if not more, enjoyment out of non-fiction as I do fiction, plus I am learning something at the same time? Quote Agree. Not a fiction reader here. I'm currently finishing "Bury Us Upside Down" by Rick Newman and Don Shepperd.
  12. I flew a 182 jump plane for years that had the bubble. I enjoyed it!
  13. Yes, most definitely. Your body tries to compensate with an increased rate and depth of breathing. Sometimes it's subtle and hard to pick out though.
  14. He wasn't bumped "by" Jack, just they thought a geologist versus a pilot was a better fit. JOE's balls drag the ground compared to Jack.
  15. Nope, not your computer. Doesn't work on home 'puter either. I'll check with the JSC guys that put this out...see if there is a work a round.
  16. http://knowledge.jsc.nasa.gov/index.cfm?Event=StoryTellingVideos&Category=baafc16d-544e-4f84-b6b8-62a45919b1d7 Not sure what the deal is with the link. It's not protected......give it another try. The more I listen to Joe the more in awe I am of those guys......
  17. Let me recheck the link. It's really a nice look into the program by Joe.
  18. Video of Joe Engle giving a "brief" back on 19 Aug 09 to some of our folks. Just click on the video of session wmv file..... I haven't watched it yet....so no flaming. http://knowledge.jsc.nasa.gov/index.cfm?Event=StoryTellingVideos&Category=baafc16d-544e-4f84-b6b8-62a45919b1d7 edit to add: very nice review by Joe on the X-15.
  19. Take the asinine constraints off of us and we could easily duplicate the moon mission and go to Mars. But I agree, the moon is probably out for now (funds), and the general public can't stomach it during the current economic climate..... But trust me, there are plenty within NASA that have the skills....
  20. Probably not, but I don't have any data to back that up. There is a turbine version of the Duke that's out. Unbelievable performance...... http://www.royalturbine.com/
  21. It's not the NASA guys saying anything, it's others. NASA has been reigned in over the years, the "Safety Nazi's" took control and wield the power.
  22. I agree with that. Plus, the additional safeguards put in place after some accidents prevent foward thinking in a lot of instances. If (like in the X-15 days) we realized that accidents/deaths WILL happen in the course of research, we'd be better off. These days, people think we should be able to go to space with ZERO incidents. It'll never happen...........
  23. Had a beer not long ago with Joe Engle. He seriously hung it out on the edge......
