  1. I really think he meant for those that "served" in WWII. Just to clarify. Over 1000 U.S. veterans die every day that served in WWII. Can imagine the total numbers are overwhelming... I think that sum is bollocks, just do the math and you will realise it's not true. The last documentary on WWII stated this fact. If I get time, I'll check.

  3. If only I had thought about that 8 years ago... Oh wait I did... I am Air Force... (I've been in Dayton for the past several years...) but am in a Joint assignment at a NAS... That's gotta suck. In my 23 yrs. active duty in the AF, I went to a Navy base TDY a couple times. Billeting suckkkked... Food, eh. But they treated senior enlisted guys really good. Good luck on getting out of that assignment at the earliest op......
  4. Join the Navy, See the World. Join the Air Force, See Texas. Now, just because they chose to keep me in San Antonio for 11 freakin years, doesn't mean it'll happen to everyone, right? haha
  5. I understand that each branch has similar problems but at least in the USAF you can get on the housing list before you arrive on station... the Naval policy is such that you don't get put on the list until you arrive... which means it's that much less likely that you will have housing available when you arrive... Jump ship, and join the Air Force. That Navy housing rule is ridiculous. You can't get on the list UNTIL you arrive?! damn... Hope you get something soon though...

Totally agree. Something about being at an event "live". Goes for other sports others dis. I don't watch NASCAR on tv hardly at all, but love to attend a race now and again.
  7. What Wendy forgets to tell ya'll is she lives in one of those underground homes!!!! Nah j/k Wendy. How do you go WITHOUT A/C here in H-town?! With my 2-story I do run the a/c. My biggest bill last summer was $210. Not so bad... but beats sweating in my home!
  8. Early to bed, early to rise!! Looks good for launch tomorrow I think.... maybe some fog.
  9. I don't know. You'll have to ask my ex-GF.

  11. One day...someday.....someone's gonna drag their mains through that crowd. Won't be pretty!
  12. I just bumped in a Shuttle pilot a few minutes ago. I'll ask him!
  13. Exactly. That was no show-off manuever. Not sure what happened, but he definitely did not intend to do that.
  14. That.....was awesome! Not many planes that would have what it takes to dig outta that scenario cept' a Flanker. Russians finally found out how to build super equipment...!
  15. I'm less than 5 years with my company. 3 weeks (120 hours) vacation/yr, 6 days sick/personal leave, 10 paid holidays (of which 4 are floaters). 120 + 48 + 80 = 31 days off/year. Also, my company doesn't charge me for doctors appointments.... I wanna move to Europe though, they get wayyyy more time off!
  16. Still, the Harrier had it's ass shot off in the Gulf War, and we haven't required even a STOL fighter yet. Back in the Cold War, with the Russian's knocking on our door and them advancing through the Fulda Gap, we wanted a VSTOL. But, historically it's not needed. Wanted, but not needed. It's a waste of a great plane to load it up with all this extra equip to make it VSTOL, yet not needed.
  17. Nice! Although I still can't see why we need VTOL anymore. Waste of valuable space on this aircraft.
  18. Do you turn it off the heat or your landlord? I love the cold at night, but I keep thermostat set at 57 F. Seems to be a perfect for us.....
  19. Got him on twitter... he kills me!
  20. Like, she love you long time? Or just luvs ya?!
  21. I hear ya. Lots of T-33's still there as recent as this year. Love love to get my hands on one. Prolly couldn't afford the fuel though!
  22. There is a new toll road around Austin that I would highly recommend taking on your venture south. The 130 loop on the east side of Austin. As a former Austinite (damn I miss that place), it should be near completion. Maybe some locals can chime in on that...
  23. Like Wendy stated, very hot that time of year! Not sure if your budget allows, but a stop at Schlitterbahn water park in New Braunfels, TX (between Austin and San Antonio) is a must. Have fun and welcome to Texas! http://www.schlitterbahn.com/
