Definately more confident. Most of my friends have commented on that. $ priorities have changed completely. Savings account? RRSP's? What are those? Consuming way more alcohol than I used to. Used to read a lot of novels. Haven't read one all summer, but I've read my PIM's a dozen times over. Thinking about the future excites me now. I used to dread the future, it seemed so mundane that sometimes I didn't even want to get up in the morning. Now I look forward to the things I want to do, and the possibilities seem brighter and vibrant. Other than that, no, no changes... When you finally have a day off to get caught up on chores. A day when the dropzone is closed so there is no temptation to go jump. A day to do all the things I haven't done on the weekends, because I'm at the dropzone. And I'm in the backyard practicing my packing instead of doing any of those chores. I'll justify it by claiming it to be my workout for the day. Don't need to go to the gym after this... Agreed! Actually, I always defer to people who know their wines, since I don't. As for chocolate, it is a perfect food. Chocolate cheesecake, chocolate fudge, chocolate truffles, hot chocolate... In fact, there's some in my kitchen right now, and it's calling me.... Tina... TINa... Must go find the chocolate... Oh yeah sounds tasty. I'll trade you for some of my 3 pepper pasta with chicken. Dice one each - spanish onion, red pepper, green pepper, yellow pepper Saute half of them until tender. Puree with two cloves garlic and some sundried tomatoes. Fry chicken pieces or prawns. Saute the rest of the veggies, with mushrooms. Add tomato sauce, parsley, basil, pepper and salt to taste. Add pureed pepper mix. Simmer all together with chicken/prawns until completely wonderful. Serve over pasta of your choice. Should be ready now. Good thing, I'm almost drooling now Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Oh where were you on Saturday! Not a single guy could 2-step at the wedding reception I was at. Big dance floor, good tunes, no partner... Anyway, I just reached 31. 30 was the best year of my life, the year I hit my stride, figured out what I want, and started skydiving. My first sky-birthday is this Saturday. Woohoo! Uh, no. Bald can be sexy, as long as the guy isn't overweight. Thick, shiny hair is really nice; really short is nice; but bald guys with nicely shaped heads are SO sexy. Doesn't suit every guy, but when it does... A really good ass, preferably in nice fitting jeans. The eyes and the smile. It's all in the eyes and the smile. After appearance, confidence is important. Intelligence, being respectful, being considerate. Passion for life, not just for getting laid. A whole different thing is what makes a man UNdesirable. Never smiles. Spits. Smokes. (Personal very distasteful) Pig. Dirty. Know-it-all. Controlling. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

What a great thread! It's not really funny, but... I did 5 jumps last fall, and then waited until this spring to go all out. On the ride up on my first IAD this spring I was more afraid than on any of my first five jumps. I told my JM, "I really really want to do this. If I refuse to get out when the door opens, just push me." Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Oddly enough I can't seem to edit my previous post. So... The weather improved. Went back to the dropzone (I love living so close!) and found a few other jumpers looking for a load filler. Fortunately, I fit that description perfectly. Numbers now read 1:4:0 One glorious sunset while under canopy @3000'. Four awesome jumps, during which I finally figured out the whole frontloop thing. Those are fun! So are multiple backloops. Kinda sorta meant to do that So the weekend ended quite brilliantly. I'm a happy gal.

4:1:1 Four loads I was manifested on. One that actually went up. Did manage some unattractive front flips though, and my track improved a bit. Supposed to be a BBQ and nightjumps yesterday, but the weather didn't cooperate. Good time anyway. The beer is owed for my first flaming sambuca shooters! Not really. If the doctor is accepting new patients, I can go to her/him. For specialists its best to get a recommendation to speed things up, but not required. The biggest problem - in some provinces - is simply not enough doctors/nurses. And of course, the problem of competent doctors. Damn, I can't believe I'm defending Canada's health care system. What I really should defend is Canada's health care professionals. Most of them are excellent. It's the politics that get messy. But I'll take the Canuck system over the US system any day. Wait lists are annoying, but at least our costs are mostly covered and we can go to the doctor without worrying about being billed into bankruptcy. Bad doctors are bad doctors, and Canada is not alone in having those. Our medical may be covered, but extended costs and loss of work are not, so private insurance is still necessary. Hey Kerri you'll get there! Remember that determination and persistence are the most important tools for success! I did 10 practice pulls and 13 jumps before my first freefall, so I know the frustration you mean. It's worth it to push through. And do go read Wendy's student logbook, followed by her list of achievements. Thanks Wendy for posting that; I read it this spring when I was beating myself up for my lousy arch. It inspired me. I've only had my rig for a month now, and she's already due for a repack the first week of September. I was not happy until I realised that, conveniently, I have to go to a wedding that weekend anyway. How's that for timing! As for 'normal', I vaguely recall camping, yardwork, BBQ's and such things. I remember doing those things last summer, before I started skydiving. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Well, I only said that my canopy was pretty, not my flare... I went from the student Manta to my Falcon, and well, what can I say. Didn't judge it quite right. No harm, though. Now I wait to see the veins in the leaves of the weeds before I flare. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Yeah well that picture was taken the first time I flew her. Kinda PLF'd that one, and the second one. I've stood up the landings ever since, though! Nope won't be getting down in the next three weeks. Another time for sure, though! Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Of my beautiful Falcon! (sigh) Loving her more each jump.

:3:2 This was the best birthday I've had in years! The first jump was a coach jump, and Barry shot video. First time I've had video done (one case), and it was great to see what I'm doing. Finally figured out what is messing up my door dive. Second jump was my attempt at front loops, which failed miserably, but my track was way better. Third jump was a cross-country! (second case) I've been wanting to do that since I started this spring. What a view! Clouds were building to the east, the sun was low behind me to the west, I could see four lakes, with the Lake Okanagan stretching south into the distance. What a great birthday. (sighing happily) Wanted to do more today, but wind and rain shut down the dz. Guess I'll just have to make them up next weekend. Well shit i just killed a Black Widow in my Kitchen!!!!!!!
Snowbird replied to Viking's topic in The Bonfire
So who will get freaked out by the word SNAKE! Bugs, spiders, mice, snakes... no biggie unless they are poisonous. I have a standing agreement with spiders around here. If they come in the house, they have to stay on the ceiling. If they come down into my space, they die. Simple. As for black widows, they are very cool critters, just not inside my home. Ooohhhh, Ice cream...

Dinner tastes SOOO much better when you cook it yourself!!!

Damn, now I'm craving venison and we don't have any left. The best venison is fresh, medium rare BBQ'd tenderloin steaks from a bambi that was raiding a grain field before being bagged. mmmmmm nummy. Or a roast. Or jerky. Or stew. Or... okay, all venison is good. Moose, too. Got a taste of antelope last year, and wow that was nice. Maybe I can raid the in-law's freezer. They should still have some... Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
