Well, I doubt that my problem is related to my freefall speed, as I make sure to try and slow down well ahead of time (BECAUSE of the openings, I make sure to pay attention)...there may have been a few times that was a factor...I mean, who really knows? If I had video I could rule out body position, speed, blah blah... I have also questioned the slider (should I try a pocketed one? larger? my current one is pretty big looking to me) and I have also measured my pilot chute ot make sure its not too big (its 28")... On the story goes...

But my question will be, do they *open* the same? Maybe there is just something about my Hornet but the openings are pretty bad these days...That is why I am demoing canopies...I am demoing a Spectre right now and I like it a lot better than my Hornet (not just the openings, but in general)...I have a Sabre2 and a Lotus scheduled as well... I also think maybe its just my particular Hornet, or maybe its me. Other than the openings, I like the canopy. But I can't go home in pain all the time. I was recently told the story of one unfortunate man last year, who got really drunk every night, and each time worse things happened but he didn't learn. I was listening to the radio yesterday and they made a comment about how "Hazing" was a long-time military tradition...etc. I got to thinking about skydiving...we seem to have a lot of hazing going on in our sport, especially at dropzones where there are a few veterans around...they know what hazing is really about. My question for you guys is this: What hazing traditions are common practice at your dz? Pieing is of course, hazing. So are things like SCR/SCS ceremonies. I think a lot of it started because of military influence years ago, and the nature of our personalities in general (we're whacked!)

OK I will write a story on the Halloween Boogie (the parts I can remember) and I was thinking of starting a monthly column/newsletter thing called "As The Prop Turns" - it can be somewhat outrageous, but not as harsh as the slammer or anything like that. I would cover my dz and I would accept reports from assigned "regular correspondents" out there from the big dz's and even the little ones. We all gossip anyway, why not have fun with it? Tell me what you think...give me input...I want to keep this thing lighthearted, so no wreck.dot type shit just friendly banter such as telling you guys what so and so did at the party last weekend...or who is moving from dz to dz as the seasons change...for example, we lost two of our people a few weeks ago...you Atlanta folks will be meeting them soon: Dewey and Sue...we miss them a lot so take care of them...more just dz news and some juicy tidbits...I could submit something to the pub like once a month or so...I dunno could be fun, could be lame.
