OK then. Yes that is who it was. I took a canopy control course with Brad, and Jason was a sweetie. I never jumped with him though. It has been a shock to say the least. They flew our flags at half-mast today.
-
ooooh I am so excited! I always wanted to do a high-alti jump, just to say I did it.
-
Damn, Stacy - did you use the handcuffs??!!? My numbers are 0:0:0 for the weekend. No sex because I am not getting along with my roommate/bestfriend/once upon a time lover/ boyfriend (?). No jumps because I am freaked out from the fatality, and no cases of beer purchased 'cause I had no firsts. By the way ya'll - the numbers stand for sex, jumps and beer. I can't remember if that was the right order or not though. I have a bad memory. hehe SIGH.

Ya, I intend to! I just haven't learned how to use our film scanner yet. It is a unit that only scans slides and negatives. Perry hasn't shown me how to use it yet. I will probably have to figure it out on my own which is no big deal.

I was at the dz last night. Only two people really saw what happened because the rest of us were watching the big way formation. I knew both jumpers and they were both kind, cool people. It was very disturbing and I am sure I am not the only one who had nightmares. Yes, it is part of the sport but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. Blue Skies to our lost friends.

He made it. I was there...I got lots of pics you wouldn't believe!! Need to scan 'em in though.

My first car was a 1985 BMW 318i. It had a hand crank sunroof, leather seats and was also a stick. It was considered by my friends and family to be a very difficult stick to drive. I learned on it at 14 (it was my mom's until she sold it BACk to my dad for him to give to me - poor guy bought that car twice!) and ever since I have always been able to drive a stick. Although the only car I owned after that one that had a stick in it was a Mustang LX 5.0 25th Anniversary edition with a 302 Boss in it. Sweet! I loved racing GT's because they were typically faster than an LX but because I had the 320 Boss and the LX weighs less (not as much ground effects and body stuff) I could beat them. Well, most of them...hehee I wrecked the beamer before I even had a real license, my dad had it fixed, and it drove fine until the transmission got stuck in reverse one night while I was out partying. I drove all the way home backwards. Then he offered me a NEW car which I totaled, and replaced with the Mustang. Since then I have owned two cars, a LeBaron convertible and my current car, a 99 Cougar I bought off the dealer lot. (Bad financial decision!) I am still driving it with a bunch of dents in it. The engine runs ok though - knock on wood. *I am very hard on cars*

I could go to the DZ but I just don't know...I don't have the money and I don't think I can handle being around a certain someone. Talk to you all later. Dave hope youhave fun at the dz!

Thanks, HH!!

I am having the same problem. I can't upload pictures to my auctions. So what is the point of an auction if I don't have a pic available?

Skydivers who don't know Buffet?? What's the DZ coming to? hehe j/k "If you like making love at midnight, if you have half a brain..."

advice needed - skydiving and relationships - how do you manage both??
freaksister replied to Newbie's topic in The Bonfire
managing both means that for me, both suffer but both also have rewards. all relationships are hard though-why are mine always love/hate? lol j/k -
Yes, road rash does heal nicely - my scars are hardly visible two years after the fact. I too landed on an asphalt runway without flaring - it is a long story and old timers on here will remember it. AggieDave was there, I don't remember what he said about it though. That seems like ages ago. Sigh. It was on my tenth jump, right after I saw a guy make a low turn and nearly die. Yikes!

My ability to come up with an excuse for *anything.* Oops I gave away a secret. Sigh.

That link was a really nasty looking bug. Gross. I hate bugs. I just don't do well with insects. Spiders don't really "bug" me (stupid pun intended) because I never catch them biting me but anything with antennae and wings and what look like *hairy* things on their legs can just stay away!! (cockroaches being the absolute WORST of the hairylookingleggeddiseasecarryingbug category...) Surprisingly enough, at the Ranch last week I only got bitten by three bugs: all spiders. Or maybe one spider just really liked BOTH of my feet and had to bite the left one twice then hit the right ankle. Who knows. However, so much for worrying about the "West Nile" virus. I didn't even see a mosquito. Wait - I take that back. I saw a HUGE 2 inch by 2 inch (approximately) one in the bathroom dying in the water next to the sink. Yikes! I really like the Ranch but I must say that their bathrooms are kinda scary. hehe hmm maybe it wasn't a mosquito...I don't remember seeing a sucker. Wait - I was there so there had to be a sucker there somewhere, eh?? My jokes are *really* bad today.

Kaz is very cool too. I thought ALL of the female competitors were awesome. I walked up to Carrie Farrington the day before the meet started and introduced myself because I just had to tell her I thought it was awesome. Anywhooooo.......I just got back from Wally World and got some pics from the PSN 2002 developed. God I love expensive cameras!! hehe Wait till I post 'em!

My worst injury from skydiving other than my pocketbook has been my broken heart. When will I learn? Probably never. Nevermind the fact that I am still here, apparently asking for more. Oh sorry - did I lose everyone there? Well, forget it. It is just one of those mystery posts.

I just got home yesterday from spending 7 days in NY for the Pond Swooping Nationals and then one day in NYC. Let me tell ya! WOW - I was so impressed with the competitors and the staff! Isabella is the sweetest, most beautiful swooper there, by the way!! She got thunderous applause at the awards ceremony, despite her score, because of her heart in this thing... GO GIRL! EVERYONE did a great job and most importantly - had a good time and stayed safe. No major injuries this year! YEA!! That reminds me...gotta go get that film developed!! I am sooooo tired from sitting in the sun everyday from the beginning of the meet to the end (for my own personal uses - I was not obligated) and I tell you I can't imagine what it was like to be a competitor, except that I do live with one! I went there with good 'ol Perry and he was exhausted, stiff and sore when it was over (but happy, except for his placing). Saturday night's party was too much for me though...SIGH...I think I am losing my touch!! hehe I tried to hang out for awhile but I just wasn't interested. Anyway, gotta run! Sis

no, not at all, just pointing out that not all boogies are the same. reality check, if you will
-
What is a decent hotel/motel close to the Ranch? Anybody know?
-
Historically, boogies weren't for the purpose of getting cheaper jumps. They were to get people together from far away to jump together and of course, PARTY! Sometimes it was also to jump new and different aircraft, try new flying styles - (i.e., Freakbrother's Boogies) and always to have fun! Most of the time, you paid more for the boogie than normal jump rates. The registration fee for these things covers stuff you take for granted, like catered dinners and kegs of beer - (In some cases, kegs of stuff like Shiner Bock, Fat Tire or Heineken.) Somebody has to pay the pilot of the specialty aircraft there and his fuel and blah blah blah. What about t-shirts? Those cost money too. Hell at the WFFC you don't even get a tshirt anymore! You have to buy it separately! But you still go, because its a BOOGIE. So quit your whining about money, you are skydivers for heaven's sake! You are SUPPOSED to spend all your money on skydiving. If that pisses your girlfriend off, she's a whuffo - fuck her! lol If you can't pay the electric bill this week, fuck it you will be skydiving anyway! Who needs the ac? LOL OK so I am getting a little extreme, here, but I had to say SOMETHING. Now its off to get my tire fixed AGAIN. Yesterday I went to get a tire replaced and then have them all rotated...and they left the bad tire (VERY BAD tire) on the car and replaced a different one. DOH!! Dumbasses.
-
Come on BB, go to the boogie! Dave, your buddy picked a yucky weekend to get married, that's all I can say!! Oh, here's something that will start a nice controversy I'll bet: See my new thread...I don't want to keep this one at the top.

Any DZs near Lubbock, El Paso or Nashville?
freaksister replied to LawnDart21's topic in The Bonfire
Well, I can tell you there aren't any near Lubbock, I used to live in Amarillo and the closest DZ to there is in Hinton, Oklahoma. Good luck1
