And now another 4 cities. Remember the old military truism, once is accident, twice is co-incidence and 3 times is enemy action. It's not random, it's orchestrated. And now, spectators are getting in the way of police. Why? what do the police want to do. Me thinks we are looking at the British Spring.

Ahh but you could with a trusty Kreuger Balloon Suit. The only jumpsuit with airbrakes!

Well, now we're all fucked

Though you did have to know how to land (and how to spot) 2 skills that have vanished nowadays

Ahh, life in the old days. Couldn't swoop them though

Jumping a Strato Flyer - Hints please..

And the slider only comes 2/3 of the way down the lines -
Cotty had one as well, if you remember Richard, it used to mal about every second jump, and he did all sorts to try and sort it out. I think he used it as a bedspread in the end. I watched him chop it several times.... The stratostat immediately made it redundant... Did you ever see Don Johnson under his Volplane?. Square, but with the performance of a cheapo.... Cotty used to jump it in a security piggyback with oneshot capewells, Koch fittings on the reserve (So he could chop the reserve) and a frontmount reserve as well. He tried everything. Measured the line length on my strat and relined the sled with those line lengths, multiple different sizes of slider and ,eventually, gave up and indeed converted it to a bedspread. That sled was also responsible for one jumper (Ollie) giving up the sport.

Watched Grant Hoffmeister's opening one in NZ whilst in freefall. It came off his back, streamed, rotated 360 degrees three times then opened. Thank god I had a (Reefed) Stratostar.

Ahh back in the days when combat rel ruled, men were men and there were no swoopers

Letter from the Head of the FAA (May Parachutist)
Marisan replied to catfishhunter's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The problem Bolas is not you neither is it the swoopers. It's the canopies! I consider every downsize as putting another round in the chamber of a revolver whilst playing Russian Roulette. Luigi, when he landed the 36 sq ft canopy had 5 rounds in the gun. He had no margin for error. The more you jump pocket rockets the greater the chance the loaded chamber will come up. You increase the number of loaded chambers with the higher wing loading you jump. Hopefully, when the loaded chamber comes up it will only be for you, not for someone else that isn't playing Russian roulette. Push it often enough and that chamber will come up! Just some thoughts from and old fart that has known Obelixtim for 35+ years -

I can see anything with a wingloading of under 1.1 being banned. Just think what that means: A new main, a new reserve and a new harness. I don't know what the wing loadings are on Tandems but they are sure to be affected as well. And all because swoopers won't listen. (Bolas, I'm looking at you) I've said it before and I'll say it again. The margin for error is just too small. -

On purpose? lisa No but it was all good. I finally got stable subterminal, progressed to terminal and then specialised in flat spins for another 20 jumps. All I can say is yippieeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Round and Round and round and rounddd and rooooundddd and woooohl round? Puke Puuke Puuuuuuuukke. Nice start! It's amazing how quickly you can count when the spin winds up. I am a little smarter now and realize after loosing lets say 100 or so friends and acquaintances over the last twenty years due to various reasons in this sport that I am not bulletproof. A hundred friends in 20 years. My how the sport has changed since I gave up.

Both of them are rent seekers just the same as your financial industry. Look where that's got you. Greed, unfortunately, always wins out.

Letter from the Head of the FAA (May Parachutist)

Except for the fact we're not sure what they want us to address. While some might assume it's canopy collisions and canopy crashes, it could also easily be cloud clearances... I think the latter is more likely as I think the FAA cares more about us possibly impacting other aircraft in the air than us injuring and killing ourselves/other jumpers on or near the ground. Personally I think it'll be everything. They won't get shirty about busting cloud cover and NOT look at wingsuiting flight patterns or canopy flight for example. If they're going to interfere, they'll do it for everything. Now we need to clean house on ALL our procedures. Do we dare assume otherwise? They're going to make sure you obey the rules. Otherwise they're going to shut you down. Either by discipline or completely. -
