Well, she is trying to find some kind of medical coverage and then she will see a surgeon. Meanwhile, she is preparing herself with info so she is prepared to ask all her questions. Finding the medical help is the hardest right now, since she has no insurance. Thanks, Chris. I wasn't able to stay until it was finished but here are some pics of the 2004 Ice Palace in St. Paul, MN while under construction. Simply amazing and very, very cold! They cut the blocks of ice from a lake nearby..........imagine.............that's how cold it was there. That is exactly what it looks like, it was so weird. These houses aren't cheap either, around the $400-500,000 level! It appears to be a very controlled community as to what is allowed. On my recent trip to Minnesota, my cousin showed me this new community called "Jackson Meadow". It is suppose to be a sustainable rural community. I must say that when you drive up to it, it is the strangest looking community....all these odd, perfect, white houses, just doesn't look real. All the houses must be white and with metal roofs. After going to the website, I guess the concept might make sense to some. Notice the house with all the doors across the front......that is all one room, spanning across, not separate rooms. Notice the long building with the continuous roof peaks.....that is a garage for one house! Anyway, here are some pictures of the houses........... The family health history has not been a good one so maybe it's time for some good luck here. I call my sister-in-law my sister because she is a sweetheart, loving, down to earth and all around nice person. Thank you everyone. But.....my sister-in-law really needs some right now. She just got the preliminary results back from a breast biopsy, and it wasn't good. In my husband's family of 6 children only 3 are left. Two sisters lost to cancer and one brother to cancer. So this news is not good news for us. This is so depressing, since I'm to leave tomorrow for 5 days for a Happy 90th Birthday party for my Aunt in Minnesota. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. Ha! You couldn't even walk anywhere....everything had a 1/4-1/2" layer of ice on it! The stairs were unreal and the railings had a double row of icicles hanging from them. J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.

Some pictures I took recently. The sunrise was beautiful, the other pictures of our recent snow and then ice rain. The bear picture is of a concrete bear in the backyard completely covered with icy as are the plants. Very pretty to look at, not fun to experience. I hope the pictures show the layer of ice! The title of his fourth book is "Help Yourself". I have not read that one. However, he has a new one out that I just got today titled, "The Privilege of Youth"--a teenager's story of longing for acceptance and friendship. I can't wait to read it. I've heard really good things about U of Phoenix. My friends husband teaches there and their son graduated from there. They might be biased but they are the kind of people who hunt and search for the best and this was the choice for their son. Because he worked, the schedule was perfect for him. His Dad only started teaching there after their son started going there. Don't know if this helps, but it's an opinion. Reading all these posts...........makes one stop and think and reading this line really struck home for me. Even though I wasn't abused, my parents divorced when I was quite small. My Dad got custody of 4 girls! My Mother did not even try to see us or contact us until she had remarried and her daughter was 16! I hate to say it, but by then it was too late to have any maternal feelings for her. Yes, she was my mother, but.........the feelings weren't there. She casually kept in contact after that but mainly for her children to know us. J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.

I have read the first two of those books and absolutely loved them! They were so vivid and totally makes you think. There were times I cried. The abuse that child had to endure was just sad and sickening. The third book is called A Man Named Dave, btw. I gotta buy that book and read it too. Thank you for naming the third book. I just didn't want to go downstairs to look it up. It says he was working on a fourth book, but I have not found it yet. I must say, even with the subject matter, these were the BEST books I have ever read. I cannot even begin to realize what this child/man went through and managed to change his life around so he didn't pass on the behavior. Everyone should read these books. Have you read the books by Dave Pelzer? "Lost Boy", "A Child Called It" (and I can't remember the third book). Absolutely a must read, about how Dave Pelzer dealt with and is dealing with being abused. The most compelling series of books I have ever read. How can we not be loving that??? Because each branch of the trees are covered in a 1/2" layer of ice that makes for a lot of falling trees and branchesand then power failures. That's a beautiful picture. Don't get us wrong, this is a beautiful state! It's just been a rough week for weather that wasn't normal. Weren't you the one complaining you were cold one day??? The snow here is always beautiful but it doesn't last long, the rains come the next day, it turns to slush, they dump TONS of sand on the roads, and it makes the snow all dirty and brown alongside the road. Around here the snow usually only lasts the day that is snows, maybe the day after......except for this year! The first day or two is nice, after that it gets "old", especially if you don't like driving in the snow and icy roads! Losing your power isn't too bad, IF it doesn't stay off too long!
