Heya, Frank! Congrats on producer status! I'm around every once in a while when work is slow. Right now I've been busy writing a lot of magazine feature articles and taking 16 hours of school (so I'll finish this summer with my bachelors degrees) and working for my skydiving friend's publishing company. Once I'm graduated, I have no idea what I want to do, really. I just want to skydive full-time. Ha ha ha. I might goof off for a while and just work to jump and visit skydiving friends in other parts of the world. I really don't have any desire to jump right into a job. I'm 21 and I want to do a lot of things and not limit myself to just one. Mostly, I just want to skydive A LOT more than I've been able to being in school full-time and working. I'm hoping something will work out for me in that department. So when will you be visiting Florida? It would be very cool to see you! Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/

    GEEZ!

Exactly, Andrea. Not only those factories, but Bob, himself, employs so many skydivers and lets everyone keep a DZ account to act like a checking account which they can deposit their earnings into and withdraw cash if they want to. There are so many skydivers employed by Skydive Deland, just doing odd jobs so they have something to live off of and $$$ to jump. The article stated the "unsightliness" of the RV park. It is surrounded by trees. No-one who isn't at the end of the dirt road at the DZ would ever see it and as far as "unsightly" goes, that is a matter of opinion. The area is very clean. It is not trashed or un-taken care of. Some of the campers/buses are a bit old an ratty but to the people who live in them, they're just fine. How many regualar RV parks turn away business b/c of the "unsightliness" of the trailer? I would imagine, not many. See you Sunday, Andrea. Norm took some great shots and footage this weekend so if we get copies sometime this week, I will bring them on Sunday for you to see. Either way, I'll bring the pictures we already have. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/

You simply inquire about an internship. Find out who you need to talk to (who is the head of the department you wish to intern for) and talk to them about an internship. If they allow internships, they will call you in for an interview. If you don't get a hold of someone right away, keep calling until someone returns your call. Also, your school should have a list of local internships available that other students have used in the past. The list will include information such as who to contact and what the position entails. Hope that helps. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/

    GEEZ!

I just read the Orlando Sentinel article about Skydive Deland. Leave us alone! Crazy pilots? Permanent camp residents? I've been jumping in Deland every weekend for a year now and this is all news to me. It seems to me the city was just looking for someone to pick on. They see the success of a great DZ and think they're entitled to something. Of course I'm biased. It took me a month to get used to the size of the DZ and the skydiving resume's of the skydivers who jump there. However, I love the fact that on any given weekend I can meet skydivers from more than 20 different countries. I can make skydiving friends from all over the world. I know the planes are well-maintenanced and the pilots are experienced with flying skydivers. I know there are many wonderful DZs out there and I've jumped at several of them. I don't see why Skydive Deland has to be under scrutiny for any of its practices. I think Bob has set up a great DZ and has run it well. Leave us alone. That's my two sense. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  6. Nice! It's the opposite for me....since I turned 21, no-one has carded me when I order drinks at the bar. Beforehand, I always had to be sneaky, otherwise, I ALWAYS got carded. Now, I never do. Frankly, it annoys me. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  7. Oh, right....I know that girl...how is your girlfriend doing, anyways? I"m just teasing! Thanks for the welcome, Pammi. I had a stressful day so I thought I check in with the DZ.com'ers to brighten my day. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  8. I love Wal-Mart! I especially love the Super Wal-Marts. You can't beat em'. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  9. Awww, yey, a pets thread. Skymama can tell you about my kitty. BZ rescued him before he was even a week old. His mom abandoned him so we fed him from a syringe and now his first b-day will be coming up in May and he's so healthy and so handsome. I named him Sabre after my canopy and he wears a mini-skydiving pin on his colar. He's a GREAT jumper! We carry him around in one of those little rig backpacks. He sticks his head and paws out and just hangs out on your back while we go for a walk. He enjoys playing in the tub while we take a shower, sleeping on our pillows next to our head, falling asleep in our laps, playing with his skydiving ribbons, and helping me clean the house. I really love dogs, but KITTIES ARE WHERE IT'S AT! Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  10. I hear you! I'm in a magazine feature writing class right now so all of my features are skydiving-related. It's worked out really well. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/

    tat's

Hey Joe! I just finished off my skydiving tattoo. My first tattoo, I drew myself and they carbon-copied it and put it on my lower back (surf-flower hibiscus.) My second tat I got a little crescent moon w/ 2 little stars b/c my best friend wouldn't get one unless I did so I got that because I knew I could add on to it later. For Christmas, BZ got me a gift certificate to a tattoo parlor so I could finish it because I've been saying I wanted to forever. So, the finished product is a full circle, half is the moon I already had and the other half is a sun. Then coming from behind the sun/moon there is a set of wings, kinda holding on to the sun/moon. For me, it represents skydiving b/c the moon and the sun represent the sky and then the wings represent flying. I REALLY love it and I designed it myself. You should definitely go for a skydiving tat. Tattoos are so addictive. I want a third one now on my ankle. (The sun/moon with wings is kinda low on the inner side of my hipbone, and my hibiscus is on my lower back.) BZ wants to get one. He doesn't have any but personally, I find tattoos VERY SEXY! I hope to see you soon when you come back to Deland. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  12. I'm biased. Come to Deland. All of the DZs around the Florida area are good. I love my family in Deland (plus quite a few DZ.com'ers jump there.) Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  13. No biggie. Any swoop contest and a chance to meet other DZ.comers would be fun. Plus, there's nothing sexier than watching sausages swoop their toy canopies. Don't take that the wrong way, now. I'm not advocating swooping. Just had to add that in. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  14. BZ and I might make Houston. BZ swooped in the Para-Perfomance Games held there last year. I didn't go but I would love to go this time. Keep me posted. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  15. Slappie, Swoop contest? DZ.com gathering? What state/DZ? Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  16. Well, at least they're off having good times
  17. Where is Froggie or FreakSis? Since I've been checking the forums the last couple days, I haven't seen any posts from them. Where are you girls? Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  18. Geese! I hope I have a reserve by then! I will be there this weekend to pick up Kim's container and demo jump. My main should be here next week so I'm praying to find a reserve next week as well so I only have to go one more weekend. The reserve is key b/c I need to have my Cypress installed but I'm waiting for the reserve so I can just have all that done at once. How did the kiddie's b-day party go? You can e-mail me back so we don't tie up the DZ.comers wanting to read something more substantial than chit-chat
  19. Tee, Hey woman! Yep, I bought a Sabre 135. The colors ironically match my container perfectly. I didn't have too much to spend so I couldn't afford to be picky on colors. I just got really lucky and since I named my kitten, "Sabre," I am pretty stoked I found another Sabre canopy. Ha ha ha. I wish I had a picture of him to show. He has a miniture skydiving pin on his colar and he loves to go for walks and car rides and even jumps in the shower w/ us every day and stands at the end and tries to swat at the water drops. He's such a lover. He's only seven months old and can already jump about five feet high. We're so proud of our little jumper...ha ha ha! So how are you? What has been going on? Anything new? Drop me an e-mail anytime! Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  20. Ha ha ha, Joe. I didn't fall off the face of the earth. I just fell into a classroom and can't seem to escape. THANK GOODNESS I'M ALMOST DONE. Next semester is my last hard one. Then a little summer school and I'M DONE! Now don't ask me what the hell I want to do w/ my degrees....I have no idea! All I want to do is make enough $$$ to skydive, A LOT so I can hopefully get sponsored sometime. I think I'm going to start my own buisness for a while until I find something better. When are you coming back to the states? Are you still planning on moving to Deland? Let me know. We have our happy little family living here on Atlantic Beach (T, Mark, sometimes Kaz, Jared, Matt, Jeff, Kellie-belly, Blossom, me and Billy) but being an hour 1/2 away from the DZ makes me want to move to Daytona Beach. Either way it'd be cool if you moved to Deland when you got back. I hope everything is going well with you. Keep in touch. Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  21. oooo, the Deland crowd. I'm usually there every saturday except the last couple since I sold my rig so I could buy a smaller one and I've been saving $$$ for it. All is well, now, though, I have my new container and new canopy, just need a reserve and then I'll be seeing you guys there, too! Andrea, did you show them your 100th pic? It's so cute! Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  22. I JUST BOUGHT A MAIN! Almost as soon as I sent out the e-mails, I got responses. My new main will be mailed on Thursday. I'm stoked. Thank you guys, again! Now if I could just find a PD 126R for $600 my rig will be complete. I kept my old Cypress so the reserve is all I need. GEESE it will feel good to have MY OWN gear again. I feel like a huge part of me is missing. Sangrio, hopefully I'll be chatting more this summer. I'm taking 17 hours of school and working, too. Basically skydiving on the weekends is the only fun thing I get to do anymore except for renting mopeds last Sunday. For anyone who hasn't riden a motorcycle you should DEFINITELY rent one of those things. I had a blast! Talk to you guys soon, I hope! Feel free to e-mail me anytime! Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
  23. Hi Lisa, I spoke to you today about buying a Sabre 135. It didn't occur to me until now that you were the same Lisa from DZ.com. It's been a while since I've posted but I wanted to say thank you for your help, especially your recommendation to check the classifieds on DZ.com. I had checked EVERYWHERE but here and DZ.com had the best classifieds of any other website. I didn't find anything I was looking for, nor anything in my price range on any other website but I found five possibilities on DZ.com classifieds. Hopefully one will come through for me! I had to sell my rig before I would have the $$$ to buy smaller gear since I'm an over-full-time college student trying to graduate this summer. What little time I work every week goes to bills and weekend jumps so I'm pretty limited to what I got for my rig. I got really lucky and found a girl my same height and weight who bought a brand new Javelin custom-made for her right before she got sponsored so she sold it to me for $850 which I couldn't pass up. That was the easy part. It's been hard as hell to find a main my size and my price range for sale and DZ.com had the most options for me yet so I'm stoked and hope something will work out. Thank you Lisa and thanks Sangrio and everyone else for the great Classified section on DZ.com! Much love and blue skies, Carrie http://www.geocities.com/skydivegrl20/
