Interesting, as many delicacies "taste better" b/c of the horrible things they do to the animals before slaughter (see what makes veal & foie gras "taste good".) If taste is your #1 priority, would you say that despite knowledge on foie gras that you would purchase it anyways b/c you love the taste? Though I love great-tasting foods myself; food is for sustenance. Unfortunately many people have forgotten that (or just never attended biology class). Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

What the article's author was really saying. Freeflybella, excellent link on veal cows.

Vice President of the V club baby! (V is for Virgin). My best friend was president since I was a super-big tease and didn't meet the qualifications. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Sounds like me except the "no drinking" part. In fact I was pretty plastered every weekend through my junior & senior years of high school. But I've always known how to separate work & play and it never affected my grades or my virgin morals.

Hey, I was no victorian. Seriously; compared to my friends I was the royal black sheep. But, I once made cool posters for the "Gator Gallop" at UF which my best friend organized among many, many other activities she coordinated. It was always: "Hey, Care! You want to help do this, that, and then this and it will only take X hours/day for this long and will be SO awesome?" "Ummm, will it interfere with my lounging by the pool time?" "Well, yes, but it will be really fun & you'll end up with this amazing product that you helped create & organize." "But, I feel like going for a swim." "OK. Fine! Will you at least make a few posters then?" Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Straight As, occasionally a B, awesome off-campus luncher, involved in all the extra-curriculars, art, photography, piano, & two sports. That was high school. College was pretty much the same grade-wise, but lunch turned to soup, only played sports in the gym for fun w/ friends, quit painting (which I later took up again) & playing piano, and became even more excellent in the extra-curricular department. My best subjects were always English Literature & Math; go figure. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

You're not as bad at debate as you thought. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Well if by "tree hugging 'Peace, love, go hug a gay baby whale' groups'" you mean "extremists" () then I agree 100%.

The best feeling AND likely keeping humans safer as well being that those more likely to abuse/neglect animals are also more likely to do the same to humans. I've recently reduced my donations to the Humane Society of the U.S. b/c of their new "safe animal shelter" policies. (Here alone where I live as soon as our local Humane Society shelter went "no kill" the Animal Care & Control was overflooded and have to put many adoptable animals to sleep each day; not to mention what people do to their animals after trying to drop them off at the Humane Society which is full and no longer accepting new animals, and thus people resort to horrible other options of getting rid of their unwanted pet.) I believe in humane uthanization. I love that there are those like you who can handle such on a daily basis. It would be very, very hard for me not to take them all in. I said I wouldn't reply to any more posts not having to do with my topic, but well, yours sort-of did and as I mentioned earlier; we all make exceptions as it suits us.

Even certified humane has its problems; but I don't buy any meat other than wild caught fish (that is dolphin/sea turtle/mammal safe) so.... But I realize other people do and certainly certified humane is a better option for those people. In fact, the reason I can't call myself officially "vegan" or "vegetarian" is b/c I DON'T make others conform to me and thus when I visit friends/relatives (though my closest ones accommodate me anyways) I will likely eat whatever they have prepared (with the exception of pig). My goal is not to turn the world vegetarian. Assuredly if everyone believed as I do (wouldn't that be perfect) then even I would eat more meat as I DO believe in the food chain.

Why do so many people hate Speaker's Corner so much?

Same article by Ingrid E. Newkirk: "It can easily be argued that as long as there are any dogs who are sitting homeless on death row in shelters, no dogs need to be bred. But, since pit bulls are the most abused dogs..." I'm not going to spend my time refuting the PETA opposition. I conceded myself that I do not agree with some of their tactics. Pit Bulls have nothing to do with what I chose to post about and once again used a PETA link b/c they were the only ones who, in addition to the facts, provided a video. I also mentioned I would provide numerous links from various sources (credible) in addition to PETA. Rather than refute what I posted, you bashed PETA. Well, OK. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Here we go; I'm opening my can of worms. Here's the first submission: Butterball Turkey Video In future posts I will cite many additional, credible sources other than PETA, however PETA just happened to be the one w/ actual video footage. This Thanksgiving (if you lika ze meata) when you purchase your turkey, please look for a "certified humane" label. There is almost always at least one brand available at every local grocer.

The most dangerous weapon I've ever handled is a bow & arrow, and was told how to stand. I was able to hit the bullseye but got a huge welt on my left forearm. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

That was funny. Billy thought the the guy was having a stroke. I'm guessing the guy wouldn't sign the waiver to let the video air unless they showed "Part 2" right? Men! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I put this thread into Room 101 on the premise that it's biased. Edited to add #s 2 & 3: 2. Lip gloss 3. Fur coats/clothing/accessories.

Do you really want this guy coming to your party.

I think it's important to laugh and make fun of everyone equally regardless of race, creed and/or party affiliation. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
