The following scam has been reported: Click here to read more about these kind of scams. Remember: DO NOT do business with anyone who offers to send you payment for a higher amount than your selling price with the understanding that you'll send back the balance. Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of a "client" or another "customer". Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be from Nigeria or West Africa If you agree to accept a check payment, then do not send anything, gear or "change" before the check cleared. And be careful, if you manage to clear a fraudulent check then you may be liable for the damages if the bank finds out later. Make sure your bank authenticates the check. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.This username has been disabled. -
Apologies over the functionality failing. Rest assured I'll look into it and try to resolve the inability to filter spam correctly as soon as possible.

Require CAPTCHA code during account registarion
Meso replied to skydiverek's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Bots can indeed learn how to crack captchas. There are algorithms where code is able to recognize objects based on the pixel structure. This can be seen on Facebook for example, where the computer has been taught to recognize faces. So similarly, the computer just has to learn that if the pixels look similar to what would usually be an A for example, to then input A into the text field. There are a few methods that be used to crack captchas, but they can definitely be cracked by bots (unfortunately). And as a new method comes out that makes it harder, there's always someone trying to find a way to crack it. -
Hey, The spam bot issue is a difficult one to escape, and we've looked at various alternatives before. We have the ability to ban users based on IP or username, as well as a couple of other methods. These spammers get through the captcha (likely manual registration as opposed to auto). And they then use several proxies from completely different IP blocks to switch between their IPs. So while we can ban the user, they then register another account and use proxies again. We do have ways at stemming this, but occasionally, especially when our staff are away for some reason - a few may get through. But our moderators are usually very quick to react and ban them throughout the forum. The other options would be things like implementing a waiting period after registration before they'd be able to post. But that's not ideal. If you have any ideas, feel free to PM me. PS: With regards to the post about sorting the classifieds. It is something that we're going to implement in the future.

Can you please specify in more detail as to which advanced filters you're referring to? We've got several 'advanced' features through the different areas of the site. I can then provide more information and take a look at it.

Show user's signature somewhere in the profile
Meso replied to unkulunkulu's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Thanks for your suggestion. I understand where you're coming from, but I can say that I don't think we'd be putting the signature in the forum profile, at least not in the near future. We try to keep the profiles as concise as possible, reducing anything that isn't really needed on the profile page. And for the amount of people that would find it useful, it wouldn't justify the extra clutter created on the profile. -
