We've just received some e-mails to our abuse address of a user who is contacting sellers via the classifieds and attempting to get them to log in to an external side masked as Dropzone.com DO NOT FOLLOW THE LINK While clicking on the link itself will not do anything, logging in to the fake dropzone.com login screen will give the scammer your dropzone.com login details. Please ensure that if you have received an e-mail from the user and followed his link, and logged in - that you change your dropzone password immediately. The user will have a collection of username and passwords, of all those who filled out his fake form. I will not be posting the URL here, as to avoid people accidentally entering the info. But the URL is a .net.tf followed by dropzone.com.htm at the end. The message he is fowarding users looks like this:

The following scam has been reported: Click here to read more about these kind of scams. Remember: DO NOT do business with anyone who offers to send you payment for a higher amount than your selling price with the understanding that you'll send back the balance. Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be acting on behalf of a "client" or another "customer". Be suspicious of anyone claiming to be from Nigeria or West Africa If you agree to accept a check payment, then do not send anything, gear or "change" before the check cleared. And be careful, if you manage to clear a fraudulent check then you may be liable for the damages if the bank finds out later. Make sure your bank authenticates the check. If it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.This username has been disabled.

Apologies again, I thought I had gotten all the links - but seems there were still 1 or 2 remaining. I've resolved the filter drop down search now as well.
-
Apologies for that, that was my bad. We were busy taking action in preventing bots from using the site maliciously and had to change a few links, I must have missed that one. It should be resovled now.

It definitely won't become a rule here, as we are not involved in the actual sale transaction and we're merely putting the two parties in touch with one another. We can not be held liable for anything that happens between the two parties. However, we think it's worth letting people know, for their own benefit - that they may be breaching TOS with regards to PayPal.
-
That's very unusual... Can you please attach a screenshot so we can see how the layout looks and in turn find where the problem lies. Thanks

We've managed to track this down to an increased number of spam bots targeting the site. We're busy working on resolving it and enhancing security measures for these bots.

Hey guys, We've been meaning to get to a confirmation screen or a moving of the button, apologies for being a bit delayed on it. However, we have now included a confirmation popup when you click the report button. This will help in the accidental reporting of posts.

Thanks for the feedback with this, we're busy looking into it and I'll be forwarding an e-mail to the server host now to enquire about server stability. There should be between 3 and 4 ads on each page (banner, right sidebar and footer) - if yours is showing differently, please attach a screenshot so that I can verify that it's not something like Malware adding extra ads. But the errors are unlikely ad related.

Hey, We haven't noticed any slowing on our side - but it's quite possible. Can you maybe see if it's an ad slowing it down? It may be noticible by displaying what is taking a while to load. Or by using Firebug (if you're using Firefox). Unfortunately due to ads being geo-targetted, we may not see the same ads you do and in turn not experience any load issues, which makes it difficult to troubleshoot.

Explaining the situation to the bank is often a good measure, they will likely try and get law enforcement involved. There's been several cases where users have received the checks and taken them to the bank for authentication, which then prompts further measures by the bank on investigating the origin. -
Men: I Love You But Sometimes I Just Don't Get You
Meso replied to LuckyMcSwervy's topic in The Bonfire
I don't think what you mention is gender specific, and I've experienced the same thing from girlfriends I've had. Where they would seemingly be so into the relationship for a period of time, then act like they couldn't care less for a period. And just when you think they're actually just wanting to end it, they return back to having the appearance of someone who cares. It can be attributed to several things though. But often has to do with moods, or even mood disorders. These things were always more prevailent in people I dated who were diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. And would cycle between viewing a relationship as something that is filled with hope and positivity (able to portray that feeling), and then times when they would go for a few weeks feeling depressed, paranoid etc and that would prevent them from acting that same way within the relationship. More times than not, it will likely just be someone playing mind games. But mood disorders can also cause the same appearance and are sometimes worth considering... Talking to them about why it happens and seeing if they're consciously aware they're doing it is usually a good first step. -

Hey, We used to have a bookmark function on the articles, which was removed due to insufficient user usage. But it may be something we bring back at some point, but we'd have to take another look at how we handle that. For the forums, you have the ability to "Watch" threads, which is essentially the forum version of bookmarking. You can watch a thead, by clicking on the "Thread Options" button on the top right of the thread, and clicking on the "Watch Thread" option. Once you have watched a thread, you can view it in your posts area. This can be accessed from the My Stuff box on the right of your screen "Posts", or directly from the URL here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=my_topics; Watched threads are listed at the bottom.

Can you please post a link to the search feature that you're using? The only one I can think of that offers real name search is the advanced user search for premium members - and that seems to be working fine.

Thanks guys, Forwarded both of these on to be brought up with the ad hosts.

$5000 you say? ;) There's been 3 $250 000 tournaments this year, $100 000 for the winning team. Dota 2 recently had the International, where the prize pool was $10 000 000, yup - 10 million US dollars. The winner got something like $5 Million. It's likely that CS:GO will also have an event like that in future, where one can expect a $2 000 000+ prize pool. It's become comparable to any atheletic sport now though, big sponsorships, team management, and well - decent sized cheques. They practice 10 hours a day and own practice houses where they bootcamp prior to competitions. And it definitely takes skill to train your reactions and land the shots - and know what your opponent is thinking so you know when you're being flanked or where the opponents might be in a clutch situation. I mean there's always a few levels of play though, back in 2002-2004 there was a large pool of 'fun' players, which still exist today. But there was also a large community of pro players playing for money, where it was very serious. Without strategy there's definitely no winning a competition :) Got to drop those smokes in just the right places, heh. It's definitely the easiest eSport to watch though - quick, to the point and easy to understand.

How's this for a thread bump, 7 years isn't too bad ;) Couldn't help it though... I used to be a competitive CS player back in the day, started playing in Beta 6 (2000) - and continued to play competitively for a few years until 2005 or so. When Source came out, I stopped as it annoyed me to death how much it had changed for the worst. I got back into the 1.6 scene playing pickup games a lot in 2009 - 2011. Then Counter-Strike Global Offensive came out, and I was hesitant at first - as I was a 1.6 purist. But I've been playing CS:GO for about a year now and man, things are on the way to being how they were back in 2003 where it had a thriving community and the game got a lot of support. This weekend was ESL One Cologne, and there were some of the most insane games played. The American team, Cloud 9 came really close to beating world #1 NiP (for those unaware, the European scene has always been the strongest). So for anyone who still spends their extra time behind a PC screen, it's definitely worth giving CS:GO some love, especially for some of the old 1.0 - 1.6 players who enjoyed it back in the day. I mean, just check out what it's like these days as an eSport. Watching the commentated streams is great (From the recent Katowice event): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2QNAs5SAiQ Long live CS ;)

Watched it this weekend, kept waiting for something bad to happen in the typical movie plot style. Was quite an enjoyable movie.
