From the time I was sitting on the ground when I landed on my tandem, I knew I wasn't done with skydiving. Before even getting to my feet I knew I was going to do it again. Within four hours, I was calling the DZ to find out about getting my license. With persistence and some great instructors, I have managed 7 more jumps this winter despite crappy weather. The whole focus of my life changed with that tandem. Am I a skydiver? I think so. I look at the sky and clouds now with a longing to be in the air that I never knew existed before. Winter Skydiving in the Northeast

the shoes, huh? I jumped with shoes (and as many layers as I could get under the jumpsuit) this winter and it was damned cold. I can't even imagine with just the shoes.........No way............ "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490 -
Well, as all too often....0:0:0 But, I had a fun day any way. While I waited for the wind to die down (which it never did), there were a bunch of tandems. One woman wanted video, but the handi-cam battery wasn't charged and didn't seem to want to, so I offered to take pictures on the ground before and as she landed. That was only the second time I've tried photographing landings, but she was delighted with the pictures. I would really liked to have had a chance to be in the air, but it was pretty cool to be a part of her first jump. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

I think she is remarkable. To be that flexible and energetic at 84 is something. It's too bad we are such a youth centered culture that a video like this is giong to get a lot of negative comments. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

Winter Skydiving in the Northeast

Damn that looks just way too cold. I managed to land in a well-plowed MUDDY field last week and trashed by shoes, so I had to go hone barefoot. That was more than cold enough when i had to walk over snow to get to my front door. All I can say is brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! Winter Skydiving in the Northeast

Oh, I so know that feeling. Until the last two jumps, the ground temp had been in the low 20's (low 40's lately). I don't even want to think about what the temp was at 10000 ft. The weather Sunday is supposed to be sunny and in the low 50's. I can hardly wait. I've been wearing Under Armor, thermals, sweats and a jumpsuit. But, would I have waited for summer to start learning? Not a chance!!!! "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490 -

I've got a jar I throw all my change into, including pennies. It adds up after a while. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

Me, three......It's nice to be able to read Bonfire posts at work. The internet speed is a lot faster there than at home. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

The lure to skydive can be a powerful motivator for weight loss. I had lost quite a bit of weight before I started skydiving last October, but for the first time in my life, I am not only keeping the weight off, but also slowily losing more without it being a major production. If the temptation to overeat strikes, think about your goal to skydive instead of reaching for those goodies.

I haven't actually got to meet anybody yet, but I've been posting here since November. Can I play too? I promise not to jump with it (my last landing was in a very, very muddy corn field), just to take it's picture in a fun place( if I can find one in Idaho). 0;1:0 As usual just one jump. The weather gods are pretty stingy with the blue sky around here this time of year. First time since November that I've jumped without snow everywhere. What a difference. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

Miy picture is. I'm 57 and get a kick out of being able to help kids (of all ages) with computer stuff. It is sort of a necessity for me since some of the classes I teach are online. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

The telephone. I have always found the telephone/mobile phone a pretty fast way to achieve the same if not more. *** It seems many the younger people I know ignore phones unless they feel like answering them. They will text message, but I'm pretty slow at that, but it works too. Myspace also lets us share photos that picking up the phone just doesn't do. Some particular reason you think people over 40 shouldn't have one? I've found it the best and fastest way to keep in touch with my daughter and my nieces and nephew. When I post a message to any of them, I generally have a response in a pretty short time. Not to mention, I've found quite a few other people my age do have myspace pages and it's a fun way to get to know them. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! When you want to have a clicky, use the url button under the box you type in. You click on it, paste/copy/type the url and then click the /url button. Then you've got a clicky. You can use the same technique to make bold type or underline things in your posts. Granny "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

My brother scrimped and saved all his short life. He was just talking about starting to do the things he dreamed about when he died from cancer at 51. Material things don't count for much if you don't live life along the way. That has a lot to do with why, after that first tandem, that I decided to continue skydiving. Oh, so that's what it's called????? I could use a little adjustment myself. I've about given up on weather forecasts. No matter what they say during the week, between Friday night and Saturday morning they can go to shit, unless of course there's some other reason to interfere with jumping. They it's sunny and nice..... "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
