took first aff class but no jump :(
grannyinthesky replied to chris03852's topic in Introductions and Greets
Out of curiosity, where is that recorded once you sucessfully do a pack job? Is it put in your log book with a rigger signature? There is an A-license card that comes in the back of the SIM that has all the required things and spaces to have them signed off. There are two different versions of the card. Have you gotten your SIM yet? "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490 -

Doing an unassisted pack job is a requirement for the A license. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490 -

Can you please exp.? I cant think of a way to tuck the bridle to tight to cause a PCIT, unless the closing loop is way to tight. Me 0;2;1 only did 2 FF jumps due to a minor injury in my right arm about a mounth ago. So slowly working back up to 6-8 jumps a day. Beer paid due to swooping in the beer line last week From what I've been told, if you tuck the bridal above the pin too snugly it can make it difficult for the bridle to pull the pin. I know the bridle was cocked and must not have been misrouted because it started to open just as I dut it away "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

Need some advice on flaring

Do you know who's doing the canopy course? I could really use some help in landing myself. I may just have to make a return trip. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490 -
Yep, it just didn't want to pull the pin. Best guess is that I was tucking the bridle too tight. I've got to say, a mal like that makes you realize how fast things happen. I was under my reserve by about 1500 feet, but I bet if it ever happens again, it wouyld be 500 feet higher. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

0:6:0 Well, quite a weekend and during the summer my weekends start on Thursday! I started the weekend with a cutaway, got my reserve repacked the next day and got back in the air Saturday monring. I think the first jump after a cutaway is almost scarier than the cutaway. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

I remember some guy riding a stuck/jammed pilot chute down under 1000 feet because said he was worried about the cost of a reserve repack and would not be able to jump again that day. Your ass/life is on the line up there last thing you should be worried about is the cost. I had my second reserve ride yesterday and the cost of having to replace things was not even considered. All my attention was focused on pulling handles........ "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

Yep. That's how I look at it.

Oh, just managed to have a pilot chute in tow to end the day. I've looked at the obvious potential causes and the only one I can think of that might have done it was tucking the bridle too snug between the bag and the rig. I cocked the pilot chute (I check that three times as I pack.) and I don't think the closing loop was too thight. I don't think I miss routed the bridal either. Anyway, I've got to say, a high speed mal sure doesn't leave time to mess around. It was nice that my main, freebag and cutaway handle all fell within 100 yards of each other. :) I was about to say that it was a great jump until I pitched, but when I think about it.....it was a great juimp all the way. How could it be anything else????? I'm here posting away. It would be nice to be a full-time skydiver, but being a teacher is about the next best thing. I get lots of time to play. Good morning, but here it's really only a little after midnight. Nothing like a reserve ride to make going to sleep a little difficult "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

Congrats on getting your coach rating. :5: I had a great trip to Washington state. Even with business meetings 3 days, I managed to jump at 3 dropzones, including my first time at Snohomish. What a gorgeous view and a great bunch of fun jumpers. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

Do you still log your jumps?
grannyinthesky replied to ozzy13's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I like having them signed. It's fun to look back at the entries and think about the people I've jumped with. It's also a good way to get someone's name if I'm drawing a blank. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490 -
Vskydiver's Gear Raffle, Leap for Lupus
grannyinthesky replied to JohnMitchell's topic in The Bonfire
No, probably just Wednesday. I'm going to try to get to Snohomish Friday late afternoon and then head to Ritzville at noon on Saturday after my meetings are done. But it is tempting to head back to Kapow for Saturday afternoon and then drive to Ritzville that evening. Choices, choices......
