Jumper Integrity & Logbook Veracity

Just curious - is there something you personally want to do that requires a D license which you would not be permitted to do with only your C? I'm not sure, but don't you need a D to get a pro-rating? The idea of being an almost 60 woman who could jump at demos is a pretty enticing idea. Jumper Integrity & Logbook Veracity

I was pretty much not thrilled with the idea of night jumps. My depth perception is pretty minimal in daylight, so I figured night jumps would be pretty tough for me to do. I was wondering if that was something you could get waived. Then I found myself doing night jumps this summer at West Plains Skydiving in WA. Rex, the dzo, was walkikng around asking who was going to to night jumps that night and I said something like "maybe, kinda, sorta... I'll give it a try." Somehow that turned into a yes and I found myself on the first night jump load at that dz. After I got out the door and discovered I could find the landing area, it was a great jump. The view of the area in the frull moon was terrific. And I discovered something sorta nice.... my depth perception at night wasn't any worse than in the daytime!! I manifested for my rw jump while I was packing. I really felt a sense of accomplishment for overcoming my trepidation about night jumps. Would I have done them if it hadn't been a requirement for gettting a D license (35 jumps away now)? Probably not and I would have missed out on some fantastic jumps. But I never would have considered falsifying my logbook to say I had done night jumps I hadn't done. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490 -
I did one jump today. 19 on the ground and -18 at 10k. A bit nippy, but oh so pretty with fresh snow on the ground. Well, there was a bit in the air too. Layer and good gloves make a difference. :) "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

I think Snohomish has to be the prettiest place I've jumped, even without getting to see any wildlife. The view is incredible. -

I'm getting there the 26th and leaving on the 2nd. I can hardly wait. It's so cold and windy here today that warm sounds really, really good. I've been trying to get close enough to my 500th jump to do it there, but I don't think I'm going to make unless we get some really unseasonable weather here. Now you've got another reason to come to Idaho and visit. We could go track down Star's van and pet out cows at the dz. -
0:3:0 For this time of the year, it was a fantastic day. Clear blue skies, some puffy whites (got close to one, but couldn't quite track fast/far enough to get there ..... you could see so far it was incridible after the summer hazy days. It was a little chilly, but who cares about a little cool air (5 degrees F at 10k). The forecast is looking good for this week and weekend so far.

Congrats on passing AFF, youngster.. I started skydiving at 57, two years ago. Good job with the reserve ride. I had my first from the same thing at about jump 35. It did make me feel good to know that I was able to deal with it competently. Welcome to skydiving. Where did you do AFF? "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! After just one weekend of Big Bird here in Star, I can sure understand that. I'm missing that plane already, too. I think I'll have to make a Mesquite trip again this year to say Hi. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490 -

Make plans for coming next year. It's supposed to be an annual event. We had glorius weather, great skydives, fun around the bonfire, ... everything a boogie should be. Kudos to Rex and Pat from West Planes and Rob and Rene from Skydive Idaho for working together to give us such a breat weekend. :) "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! This is what I was taught as well, and when I had a PC in tow earlier this summer, that is the procedure I used. I'm aware of the pro's and con's, but I think the important thing is to have a plan.... not to wait until he happens to make up your mind what to do. We're a little ways down the road in Star, near Boise, but Skydive Idaho is a great place to jump. We jump year round. If there's sun and/or enough altitude, Rob will get us in the air. We've got a great AFF instructor and some fantastic coaches too. Come on out! "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
