    Cold Weather

Now I know why I live in Phoenix. It's Feb. and it has been 80 degrees the past two days. Perfect jumpin' weather. "Death smiles upon everybody, all a man can do is smile back" ~Jason
  8. Just go sit in the bathroom all day so they can't find you. If they get to you before you make it just put your fingers in your ears and hum......"I can't hear you!!!!" It's worked for me. Good luck. "Death smiles upon everybody, all a man can do is smile back" ~Jason
  9. I have lived in AZ my whole life and can safely say that there are no beaches here. Just heat, dirt, and the best skydiving weather anywhere. Unless everybody has been playing some kind of trick on me. "Death smiles upon everybody, all a man can do is smile back" ~Jason

    Head Cold?

Has anyone jumped with a bad head cold before? I only have one jump to go before I am off of student status. I have a cold so I have been putting it off. I'm afraid my head might explode! That would ruin my whole week. "Death smiles upon everybody, all a man can do is smile back" LOOK AT THE GRIN ON MY FACE!!!!! ~Jason
  11. I started skydiving through the tandem progression method about 2 months ago and had made it to IAF level III yesterday. The objective of the skydive is 2 360 turns and forward movement. On my first dive, I felt it went well but did not do the turns well enough to pass. My JM said I did everything fine.....I just needed to RELAX and not tense up. I decided to try it again and I failed miserably. The exit went great and I was flying much more relaxed until I started my first turn. I dipped my shoulder way to far and started to spin out of control. I tried correcting myself but I still don't have good body awareness during freefall so I tried correcting myself the wrong way which made the spin even worse. At that point the only thing that went through my mind was what my JM told me. "During a spin out of control.....PULL." So, that's exactly what I did. Here I was at about 9500ft with my canopy already opened and this was the first jump without radio assistance for landing. Knowing that I had a long canopy ride down I started second guessing my decision to skydive. Not because it scared me, I never felt my life was in danger but because of the sheer embarrassment of such a big screw up. When I landed and walked into the hangar I didn't even want to look at anybody in the face. During the debriefing my JM told me that it was not as bad as I thought it was and right before I reached for my ripcord he was getting ready to dock with me to stop my spin. All the experienced jumpers came up to me to tell me that they have all done that before too but I know it was an attempt to make me feel better. I thought that was nice but the fact is I wasted a skydive. I don't know that I will ever become relaxed enough to do something simple like a 360 turn. But I have spent a lot of money on this sport that I have become addicted to but I know that it's not for everybody. My frustration may get the best of me if I try it again. I don't think I could handle myself if I made the same mistake twice. Does anyone have any pointers on how to turn at a reasonable speed? Thanks for your help.
