    Twinkee's

It just crossed my mind...a whole episode of 'The Simpsons' will no longer be realistic. How can they survive at the twinkee factory after the apocalypse if there are no twinkee factories? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  2. Who wasn't? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  3. My daughter, who's in her early 20s and (trust me on this) is very attractive, did that when stopped for a minor infraction. Tells me cop was very nice, but... >>> Ticket. Yep, that's been roughly my experience & ratio, too. An attorney says 'trust me'....???? You know the rules of bonfire. Pictures, sir. Pictures. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  4. Oh wow! This was a tradition that I loved. They stopped playing it years ago and I have missed it. I'll play it when I get home and off the work computer. Many thanks! From memory - "Eight by ten color glossies..each one with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back telling what it was about...and he looked at that seeing eye dog..." I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  5. I had a few odd results from my philosophy. For instance: I didn't pull people over for rolling through red lights in the early morning hours. If you slowed down, checked to make sure it was safe, and continued...made sense to me. One night, I followed someone who did this just to make sure there was no evidence of DUI. It was 2:00am. The light was red, but I presumed he was smarter than the light. No evidence of DUI and I would have continued my patrol. He saw me and pulled over. I was kind of stuck. I had to get out to explain to him that I had no intention of stopping him. But having turned on my lights for safety and had contact, I had to report it to dispatch, which meant I had to run his license. Wanted for murder. Guilty conscience? Ah well. The job was full of little stories like that. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 6. Cops everywhere come in different flavors. Some are going to write you up no matter what. They would write their mother up. They think it is a mission from god or will get them promoted or something. Most are not interested in making more work for themselves for no reason. You got stopped. Punishment over. I never wrote just one ticket. I pulled you over. That was it. I started writing when I pulled you over for something..and you you didn't have a license...and the kids weren't secured...and you had an attitude that made me want to check other things...etc. Basically, if being pulled over wasn't likely to have any effect on you, you got to pay money for a ticket. Being polite and acknowledging whatever you did wrong will usually get you out of a ticket unless you were always destined for a ticket. 7. Thanks for the good memory and smile. "With God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!" That's from memory. I think the character's name was Mr. Carlson, station director. 8. Agree that asking the guy in front of everyone was really a jerk move. Some people really get off on controlling other people's lives. 9. Not a fan of the UN under the best of circumstances. When they try to tell the US how to deal with a State? Piss off. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 10. Seem to me there is good and bad for everyone. Republicans can claim they won a victory while lamenting the fact that he isn't trustworthy. Democrats can lament a loss while relishing the fact that he is secretly on their side of at least one issue (or at least not as conservative as he purported). Not sure he's that much different from other politicians. We keep electing people who love themselves. Why are we surprised they lie, cheat and steal to get what they want and sleep around? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  11. Nice video. I'm trying to track what's going on there. All of the reports I've read online agree with you. The system is working very well. Meanwhile, good targeting and precision munitions by the Israelis are keeping Palestinian casualties down. It's really hard to criticize the Israelis here. It took over 100 rockets in 24hrs to push them to action. Claiming afterwards that they are the agressors is just fabrication of the highest order. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  12. I think there is a legitimate argument that most Christian denominations are poly. Many of the churches I've been to take OT text and replace G_d with Jesus and often turn it into a song. If they are 'one', why do that? There are Unitarian denominations that reject the idea of the Trinity. Given the controversy of the origins of the concept (Comma Johanneum), I'm surprised more people don't reject it. I agree with the OP that IF there is one god, you would think it was a short trip from agreement on that point and laying down arms that were taken up over religion. However, human nature just doesn't seem to allow it. I was once touring Cades Cover in the Smoky Mountains. It is a valley that was settled by a few families in the early history of the region. On the motor tour, I stopped at the re-built '1st Baptist Church' where the sign explained which families built it. There were only a handful of families in the valley. They all participated. The next stop was at the '2nd Baptist Church'. Some of the families broke off and had to build another church. Guess what the third stop was? Only about six families in this isolated valley. All were Baptist. But they ended up with three churches because of religious disagreement. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 13. Yeah, Hamas and Israel are having quite the party right now. Thanks to the widespread ownership of things like grenades, machineguns and missiles. Yeah. The party is two-sided. Think of the possibilities is one side was not armed. Not to mention the "widespread ownership" comprises the military of Israel and Hamas. Not like your next door neighbor is shooting rockets... Actually, Hamas has to fire rockets at Israel because everyone in Israel is armed. Entering Israel for the purposes of mischief just isn't going to go well for the miscreant. In that case, the well armed militia is a huge part of the guarantee that they will continue to exist. In the case of the US, you had a bunch of guys who just fought for eight years against a government they considered oppressive. Their writings indicate they wanted future generations to be able to modify the government; by force of arms if necessary. Clearly, they wanted the citizenry to have the arms necessary to overthrow the government and start over. It was the ultimate 'check' or 'balance'. They had just used it. They wanted to ensure it could be used again if needed. They also gave some perfectly valid arguments about the right of the individual to self-preservation that are still effective today. Rage all you want. Weapons are tools. They give the holder an advantage over someone who does not hold them. Democracy demands that ultimate power reside with the 'people'. Like it or not, brute force is the ultimate power. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 14. The whole 2nd Amendment is based on fear. When it refers to "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State..." that's a fear that without guns the security of the nation will be in jeopardy. So it's been about fear from the get-go of the founding of this nation. We're beyond that now, and should get over it. OK. I'm finding this guy so ridiculous that he's kind of amusing now. I assume this screen name is a facade for someone just having lark. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 15. http://tekstovi-pesama.com/g_img2/0/a/13202/average%2520white%2520band-2.jpg Wasn't that allowed to sunset because it had no effect on crime and only served in infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens? On the day it expired (my birthday), I had two previously prohibited AR-15s on my livingroom floor for assembly. They had flash suppressors and bayonet lugs. Those were the two things that made them illegal the day before. Yup. Need to bring that law back. These drive-by bayonetings are getting out of control. 16. So you think private citizens should be allowed to own nuclear bombs? Private citizens should own nothing that cannot be carried in their B-2 bombers. I vehemently disagree. There are plenty of things that will not fit in the B-2 that I want. A C-5 Galaxy, however, can carry a tank just fine. I can't believe you want to restrict my rights like that! And while I agree on the other nine, I think the concept of interstate commerce and the SCOTUS have gutted number 10. Of course, it was one of my favorites... 17. So you think private citizens should be allowed to own nuclear bombs? Nope. But I don't think anyone should have nuclear bombs. Now, tanks, grenades, machineguns, flame throwers...hell, that's just a party in the making. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  18. Well, that's humorous...if completely opposed to all the clarification in the Federalist Papers...but thanks for clarifying that he meant for everyone to have the same weaponry as the military. 19. Over? Heheh Southerners! Our plan to lull them into a false sense of security is working!!! Victory is getting closer! 20. Not true. Don't let your disdain of religion cloud you to the ability of the individual or group. True. But thinking differently does not mean inferior thinking. Allowing your prejudices to sway you into understimating your opponent is a dangerous error. Is religion used to control the masses? When has it not been? Does that mean the leaders are acting without logic or a plan? It would be foolish to assume so. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  21. Bingo! We have a winner. +1 I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  22. Fair enough. But allow me the ability to lament the situation...even if it isn't new. Do a little research on the Burr - Hamilton duel when you get a chance. Very interesting. I agree with many historians in believing it was actually an act of suicide. David I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 23. I'm not sure that's what he was saying. And if it was, he is wrong. Planes sometimes hit pockets of air that cause them to drop rapidly. When that happens, passengers can get tossed around and hurt pretty badly if they aren't wearing seatbelts. If the plane goes nose first into the asphalt, seatbelts are useless. But there are lots of other things that can happen. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  24. I have watched this thread in the hopes that someone here would be more creative. Dropping a nuke on Israel? I think not. What is the real end-game? Get creative. 25. But the disincentive of the taxes can rise to the point that someone considers it no longer in their best interests to earn more. That's where the IRS placed me. I didn't mind working half of my time for fee and half pro bono. When I realized the average rate was greatly lower due to taxes, I didn't care to continue.
