Jay Carney Berates Insurance Companies For Complying With Obamacare
davjohns replied to rickjump1's topic in Speakers Corner
There's a central point to all of my complaints about the government. No offense to you, personally. But the People of the US have forgotten who the boss is. I'll give you a hint...the temporary employee who sits in the White House isn't it. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -
In a written document that is supposed to be original work where not attributed to another, I see the case. Quoting someone else in a speech because you agree with what they said and can't say it better...especially for a politician... Much ado about nothing...no matter who did it. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Obama's approval rating is the lowest of his tenure
davjohns replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
I really don't consider his approval rating nearly as low as it probably should be. I don't think Bill wants back. I'm not sure he wanted to be President to begin with. I think Hillary rode his ass in. He was just there for the boobies. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -
I would be happy to claim you in the Libertarian camp. We've got boobies! Pretty much agree on the taxes issue. The Feds need certain minimal revenue to effect international commerce regulation, national defence, diplomacy, etc. Most of the things currently done by the Fed should be done by States or lower. To me, schools should be a local issue run by people with a vested intererest in them. There shouldn't be a US Dept of Education to tell people in Alaska how to train their children. Reserved Powers were erased by taxes. Confirms how evil they are. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

That's an idea. Have someone else flip the coin. They can keep it covered and just ask you what you want it to be. I'm not sure flipping a coin is so bad. Let's face it...most of us don't do any better than the coin. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Just as the reasonable people predicted . . .

Inconceivable! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -

Being fair, "if you like your health plan, you will be able to keep your health plan" sells much better than, "if you like your health plan, tough shit". Come on. Anyone who thought a government that can't balance a budget could make an overarching healthcare system and do it well... I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I would suggest that makes you "independent". I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

Someone clicked 'Left Wing'. Nobody has admitted to 'Right Wing' as yet. Lots of people love boobies, though. Makes you wonder why we haven't had a supermodel / president. Been there. Done that. I didn't find enough in the articles to allow an assessment of the sitaution. Failure of a subject to obey verbal orders isn't decisive. I've dealt with deaf subjects, subjects that did not speak English, and mentally impaired subjects. I don't know what is meant by the officers' report that the kid raised the gun in their direction. A one-handed move to surrender the weapon is completely different from a shouldering of the weapon to fire. There is nothing in the articles about how long the officers have been on the street. I can tell you that my first encounter on the street went whizzing past me. After a couple of years, you seem to have plenty of time to assess a situation and choose a response. I suspect these articles were intentionally written without more facts in order to create controversy. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I sometimes wonder how people like that survived evolution. I guess there were once hunters, gatherers, and hiders? Poor people. I feel for them. I love going to those kinds of places with people like that. It's so entertaining. Much more so in person than on this video. Then, I feel badly. It's like I'm torturing them for my amusement. Personally, I have to make an effort to relax in haunted houses. My first, second, and third reaction to someone jumping out like that tends to go badly. My brother managed to startle me one time. I thought I had killed him with one shot to the temple. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. ATTN: Ladies, do you want to see naked guy post whore glory?
davjohns replied to KawiZX900's topic in The Bonfire
Not to sound like a DFW (dirty filthy whore) but... I don't get how women can see a nice head like that and not want to put their mouth on it. I guess I can understand that. I feel the same way about breasts. And...it had to be said... How YOU doin? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Great - now we get to add more lawer bills to the 634M . . .
davjohns replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
I take it as axiomatic that all government programs will cost much more than the price they are sold to the public at. Just so you will know...the US has special administrative courts for the IRS. Practice in these Tax Courts is specialized for attorneys. Nobody mentions the cost of these in our tax system. Social Security has its own special administrative courts as well. Again, a specialized area of practice for attorneys. Anyone want to guess what's going to happen with healthcare? For all I know, a system is already laid out in the law. I haven't checked. I can't imagine the system will go for long without specialized courts to settle disputes on interpretation of the law and related regulations. And a new specialization for attorneys will evolve. I'm not particularly for or against ACA. I just find it counter-intuitive that a government that can't pass a budget on time (let alone balance a budget) can add a layer of government beurocracy to healthcare and make it cost less. That beurocracy has to be paid for somehow. And there are always additional costs nobody expected or discussed. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. My point exactly. Jerry - agreed. My interpretation of Libertarian is pretty much, "I'm in the middle...now leave me alone!" Wet t-shirts, handcuffs, pictures, and the police were called. This was SO DAMN CLOSE to a great night! Some people can screw most anything up. I'm sure we've done this before. I just see so many people accusing other people of being 'left wing', 'right wing', and much less pleasant descriptions. I'm guessing our microcosm is similar to the outside world: very little 'wing' and a muddy middle. I tend strongly toward Libertarian / cynical...which I consider fairly centrist. Others don't. So, where do you place yourself? Anyone going to post their membership card to one 'wing' or another? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Pigeonholing is stupid. "Right wing" and "left wing", "liberal" and "conservative" are words that don't apply to many people at all. Me? I'm probably "right wing" in a lot of ways, and feel that the government shouldn't be involved with marriage AT ALL. Don't recognize it between ANYBODY, because it's a stupid outdated social custom that doesn't need to involve the government. If people need to have something to make sure their partners get benefits, fine: We can have a government-recognized domestic partnership. This can be between a man and a woman, two men, two women, two women and a man, or any other combination people care to come up with as long as all participants are adults who can give informed consent. The word marriage should not be in the government's vocabulary. As for abortion rights? Go wild. I don't like kids, I don't think most people should be parents, and I sure as hell don't think people should be encouraged to create more fuck trophies that they aren't going to care for, and that will annoy the shit out of me. Want an abortion? Awesome, thank you for being responsible and not creating yet another unwanted child. Frankly, I think every law that needs to exist already does, and most of the laws that do exist need to be struck from the books. Made me laugh. I can't say we are in perfect agreement, but close enough to make me want to buy you a drink and shoot the breeze. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. As a matter of principle, I have to agree with you. However, there's always that little devil on my other shoulder. He sounds an awful lot like a friend I had in law school. He said, "I never vote. It just encourages the bastards." I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. I have to disagree with you. I have a small degree of personal knowledge in this area. There is plenty of waste in the government. I've seen a great deal of it personally. It pretty much makes sense to me. You can get sued and have to pay if you pursue and it goes wrong. Try suing the department for not pursuing. Can't be done. Easy decision. Keep in mind that there is no affirmative duty for government to protect you. The police are not required to get your vehicle back at all. Now, the interesting quetion in my mind is this: were the cops driving the more expensive police pursuit cars decked out with heavy duty bumper, V8 engine, etc? Why are they still spending that tax money if they have a policy against using the equipment as intended? Seems to me you should have been filing a report over the phone or at most to a bicycle cop. Otherwise, I think your local government has the motto -"Doing less with more". Was that on the side of the car? Sorry. I don't mean to make light of your frustration. It just seems to be the way the government is heading. Costs more. Does less. Blows smoke. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. Victim of thug-with-a-badge wins lawsuit; City of Denver refuses to pay
davjohns replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
That surprises me. Most of the time you always sue the governmental employer as a co-plaintiff in police civil rights cases, as a matter of course. Assuming the plaintiff's attorneys aren't incompetent, my educated guess is perhaps they were concerned that if they did name The City in the suit, the City might get dismissed for the very lack-of-agency reason at issue here - thereby establishing a "law of the case" they'd be stuck with - so instead they preferred to deliberately leave it ambiguous until the post-judgment phase. IMO, if that's what they did, it's a risky strategy, because the statute of limitations to sue the City has probably expired by now; so if they lose the issue against the City now, the plaintiff's attorneys will be in jeopardy of a malpractice claim. I had the same questions Andy does and agree with his assessment entirely. If the City was not found responsible in the lawsuit, of course they are not going to pay. For everyone else, I know it seems odd, but you have to think about it a bit. Your employee leaves the front desk for a smoke break. While on break, they run across the street and murder someone before returning to work. Are you responsible? Of course not. Even if he was in uniform and on the clock, it is possible he was not acting within the line and scope of his employment. Without knowing the details, you can't say. The issue should have been presented to the Judge. It appears it was not. If the Plaintiff failed to submit the issue of the City's responsibility in the matter, that make the City a villain. It makes them a non-party. Again...hard to say without the details. The Devil lies therein. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course. -
Agreed and thank you. Nice to see a little courtesy in SC. Pretty sure you'll be reprimanded for it shortly. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

It seems there has been a proliferation of Confederate flag waving in the last few years. Including the clown in front of the White House earlier this week waving the Stars & Bars along with the Flag of the USMC, perhaps he was was unable to see the irony. Perhaps a little more subtle than burning a cross on Obsma's front lawn, but the point was made. Everyone's in favor of states rights until it conflicts with thier own world view. I really wouldn't mind if the south succeeded, those Red states sure are a drain on our federal resources. Your point is only true if you equate the confederate flag as racist. Not saying some people don't do exactly that. But there was much more to the civil war than that. It was for sure a plank, but it was not the whole story. Just a personal perspective from someone who grew up in Birmingham, Alabama... The Stars and Bars was about tradition, history, and being Southern when I was growing up. Blacks flew it and wore it as much as anyone. I was friends with whoever my friends were. Color just wasn't important. We were fairly colorblind as far as I can recall. The General Lee wore her colors proudly and there was nothing racist about it. Just good ol' boys. Never meanin' no harm. Then entered the fear mongers. People started making money by drawing lines between the races. The meaning of symbols were changed by people who wanted something to rally hate. Racism got much worse. I can barely communicate with some of my old friends. They seem to have a problem with my skin color. We are not better off today. Just the view from my foxhole. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
