If we simply eliminate all the fully-grown adults who can't spell for shit, it would have essentially the same effect. So, since I didn't take typing in school and learned a trade instead, me missing letters sometimes that makes me or my opinions worth less than yours? Because I work hard 6 days a week instead of sitting behind a computer typing makes me less than you? You are sitting behind a computer typing, or didn't you notice that? My job does not require being able to type. only knowing how to fix any car ever built.

Quotewow.... he makes an excellent point in that we need to stop this partisan bullshit finger pointing and start working on a plan to get us out of this mess we're in and instead of agreeing/disagreeing you attack him personally? Quoteif they put aside the stupid bickering and started to relize that everyone has skills or abilities different from theirs and used them with purpose, some good things might actually happen. I happen to own a business that employes 4 people and helps support dozens of suppliers and has never been in the red or needed to open a line of credit to pay bills. I have never paid a bill late since the day I bought my business. I feel we should keep our minds on the important things and not crucify someone because they miss spelled a word.

wasn't the jonestown thing about koolaid also?

nope from now on it is Obama's fault and I hope the people that Bashed Bush at every possible opertunity hold Obama to the same and give him the same when he messes up. The witch hunt against the rigtht has already been started by Polosi but I hope they stop her and just hold everybody responsible for their actions not just republicans. Both sides of congress got us here and it will take both sides to get us out of trouble.

But whether you want to or not, you do end up paying for these unwanted pregnancies. Planned Parenthood and similar others reduce that cost, and not just by facilitating abortion. i didn't say i was against these programs, just that the federal gov shouldn't be funding them. the local gov should fund these by the needs and wants of the communities. that way the local people would be paying for the programs and the people that are close to the situation should be paying for the one they want.
-
I disagree with the Gov paying for either aproach. that is my point. It is not their job. Expecially with my money I have to agree with you, it is not the fed gov job to promote either side. I personally don't think the fed gov should spend any money on either side. this is a state or local issue. Just because little johny got little sussie to spread her legs and didn't take the time to buy a couple condums for a buck doesn't mean i should pay for the abortion or kid. make the parents of the minors pay the bills. Maybe then the parents just might take a little more interest in the activities of little johny and little sussie.

Nah this is what happens when the people are happy with the person they have elected as opposed to being terribly unsure about celebrating a debacle after the appointment of a president by the Supreme Court. so it is ok to waste 2-3 times the amount of tax payers money just because they like the guy? Obama doesn't even have a track record to tell us even if he could be good at being potus.

we will continue to see things get worse until our tax and labor figures become competitive with the rest of the world. I can see no good reason for a company to open shop here in the US when they can make the same product over seas for half the cost. As far as housing goes, when did everyone become entitled to have a house? or insurance? People need to become responsible for themselves. If someone wants something they need to find a way to earn it. maybe they don't need a big screen tv, cable with every option, or a 60k car with 10k in rims. Maybe people need to get a second job or look for a better one. How can unemployment be as high as it is with every paper listing thousands of jobs? some politician recently called the american people whiners, and you know, he is right. this entire mess is caused by people thinking that they should be given everything and have to earn nothing, living beyond their means, and not being acountable for their actions.

Considering all of his sons were taught their leadership skills by the guy who was an aircraft commander who saved himself by abandoning his crew when his aircraft was hit ( they all died) are we really surprised how they have turned out... The Bush boys are the EPITOME of the me first generation.... serving themselves is far more important than little things like honor... duty.... legality. A. You're ignoring Jeb's record and connecting him to actions done by his father B. That is a grossly over-simplified account of the Avenger being shot down. Radio transmissions were heard commanding the bailout. Unfortunately, two people died; one from his chute not opening. Bush earned the DFC for completing the bomb run after taking hits and then piloting the aircraft out to sea before commanding the bailout. C. You ignore the 57 other combat missions and the DFC The Bush boys are in their late 50's and 60's. They're not the me generation. One of Jeb's strong points is his commitment to legality and the system, as previously stated. You obviously don't like him because of his last name which just proves the point of several posts. LOL. This guy?>[url]http://www.whoseflorida.com/jeb-said_did.htm[url]. He's just like the rest of the family. Plundered Florida is what he did........ "It is revealing that the governor, who praises his record, isn't running on it. "When candidate Jeb Bush campaigned in 1998, he said, "Florida can do better." Thanks to the work of his Democratic predecessor, he inherited a budget surplus of roughly $2 billion. Florida was poised to do better, even to do great things. Instead, Gov. Bush squandered the surplus on tax cuts that have returned nothing for the state. Having made lower taxes for a few corporations and the wealthiest 4.5 percent of Floridians his priority, the governor provided slogans and gimmicks that he hoped would fulfill his campaign pledge. ... It is revealing that the governor, who praises his record, isn't running on it. When he isn't trying to sound like Mr. McBride on education, he is resorting to ads that lie about almost every McBride position and jab frantically at every hot-button issue: taxes, the death penalty, gun control. This is the Jeb Bush who in 1994 falsely accused Lawton Chiles of blocking a child-killer's execution. The same Jeb Bush ran in 1998. He just used a different script. Once in office, however, he reverted to the ideologue of eight years ago, taking a wrecking ball to state government before he has a blueprint." (Palm Beach Post editorial, October 27, 2002)" You couldn't possibly blame the 6 or 8 huricanes (can't remember the number) and other things for using up the surplus. nope your right his last name is Bush so that has to be it. Most Florida residents like Jeb and considered him a good govener. the programs he set up are, for the most part, liked by the people of Florida.

don't worry, we will all pay for what is happening, including the democrats.

are you trying to say that the government is spending the money on the wrong things? they wouldn't do that!

Obama promised over 1 trillion in new spending, the increases have to start sometime

Quite right. When writing my post I was thinking back to when I served as a township trustee. We had about 40 miles of roads, mostly gravel, to care for and the only kind of bridge we had to worry about was an occasional culvert. I really miss being a trustee. $10.00/day for any day we worked more than 2 hours, long hours in the winter plowing roads, grading roads and cleaning ditches in the summer. NOT! No matter what we did, how hard we worked, there was always somebody pissed off at us because our decisions didn't work out to their personal advantage. Were Amazon and Kallend living there?

For the people pissed about the auto bailout

Given when sort of performance $1600 million in bonuses buys us, do you REALLY want to see what would happen if the banks were forced to make do with less valuable executives? I particularly like this bit: "Most of us sign on to do jobs, and we do them best we can," said Frank. "We're told that some of the most highly paid people in executive positions are different. They need extra money to be motivated!" That seems to be a position frequently taken by many right wingers here in SC. I'm sure you've turned down all pay raises and refused any tenure, correct? OK, so you can't tell the difference between a pay raise and a bonus. I think most of us can. And you can't tell the difference between malfeasance and contract - your point being? You could TRY to address the point. Why do highly paid executives need huge bonuses to motivate them, even when their corporations are failing? 2 reasons. 1 - because they know they can get it. 2 - they don't do the job because they are being nice, they are doing it to make money. would you turn it down? -
Capitalism taking its course led to the mess we are in. It also led to Madoff's scheme. And Enron. And Tyco. And Worldcom... If you are going to lay the few messes at the feet of capitalism, then you also have to give it credit for the tremendous growth and standard of living increase seen in the last couple hundred years. Every system has it's advantages and disadvantages. We're witnessing one of the occassional bubbles that are bound to happen when capital rules. Bottom line is that most of the mess can be blamed on human greed. Which, of course, is the prime driver of capitalism. I disagree. There can be capitalism without greed, and there can be greed without capitalism. To say greed is the driver of capitalism is like saying burnt toast is the driver of having breakfast. Not every capitalist is possessed by the kind of greed that causes the problems we see today; any more than every cook is so in a hurry that they burn the toast on the way to serving breakfast. The driving force of capitalism is growth. Sometimes, in a hurry for growth, capitalists create bubbless. Sometimes in a hurry to get done, cooks serve up some real shit. It doesn't mean serving up shit is the primary driver to being a cook. Well, I disagree with you. Hunger drives cooks like greed drives capitalists. In extreme cases, the greed drives them to criminal activities like Enron, Madoff, Tyco, Worldcom, or to "default credit swaps" which bring down the entire economy. We are in the worst recession in most people's memories thanks to GREED. I don't think it was the greed that caused this mess but greed combined with criminal / moralless behavior. The government does have laws in place to deal with this, but like other cases, have failed to uphold these laws. The court system is to messed up these days to give the honest, hardworking American justice. To many people use the court system to gain something they don't deserve or push for more rights for the guilty. We need to remove frivalous lawsuites from the courts and start holding criminals accountable for their actions. Alot of this mess is because the people running these companies have no fear of being held accountable for their actions. If every ceo new that if they ran a company into the ground they would lose everthing they have received they would be more likely to run a balanced company that is sustainable and profitable.

makes it alot easier when you don't have to deal with the union.

The problem w/ that Bill, is that the very people who need, in part, to be adding right rudder are too busy admiring their new raises that they don't fucking deserve. That is part of the problem! They should have stopped this auto raise bullshit and put their money where their mouth is. the elected ones in DC have, for a long time, shown that they can't be trusted with the power to govern. Leadership is standing up and setting an example, and congress has again shown poor leadership. the checks and balances set in our constitution does not have a check set in it for greed.

Must be a good day to be crying the "D" word . . .
marks2065 replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
It's a bad day to just cry. The congress has fucked up, not the dem's or the rep's but congress. we are in such a mess thanks to the bailouts we will probably not see the problem solved in our lifetime. The country is still going to struggle wether or not they put up the money, but now we have the struggle along with the debt. I guess the problem is that we as a country are to lazy to suck it up and work through a problem. We are always trying to take the easy way out and this time it is going to bite us in the ass for a long time. -
US Taxpayers: Get Ready to Bend Over...AGAIN...
marks2065 replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
I may be wrong, but isn't the dem's that wanted the bailout for the auto industry but couldn't get the support fom the rep's? Isn't Bush doing this in spite of what the rep's want? -
Still Calling it Right -- The Dollar is being Attacked by its Own...
marks2065 replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Isn't the value of the $ held in part by the value of assets like gold? if so doesn't the overprinting of money devalue the money itself and cause inflation?
