  1. So you want all this spending to be for naught? Personally, I hope that since we're spending the money anyhow, we at least get what we're hoping for out of it. If you want this to fail, it means you want that money to be a complete waste. Maybe try to put America ahead of political points next time. Blues, Dave
  2. Because the question is whether or not the current stimilus package is irresponsible spending. We won't be able to truly answer that question for several years, if ever. I think we can all agree that no spending would be catastrophic. QuoteDid you read the stimulus package? There are strings tied to almost every dollar that go against alot of Americas views, there is money going to stupid left agendas, not for the betterment of the US but for promoting the lefts agenda. The stimulus bill does not promote the beterment of the country, it promotes the liberal agenda.
  3. Sweden The only reason for Sweden not being take is nobody but the Swedish wants it, not even Hitler wanted it. It is a beautiful country with great people but not what I would consider a model for any nation to follow. the Banking and tourism is what keeps them going. they don't have much to sustain a large population like the USA, Russia, China. most socialist countries abuse and forget about the lower 20% of their population and most of those people live poor dismal lives with no chance to advance themselves or better their lives. Even with our problems with health care, our homeless get better care than in most third world countries. we are the most generous nation in the world thanks to our system and the promotion of generosity by our government. Americans donate and aid people all over the world of their own free will and our government rewards this with tax breaks. Obama wants to take that away. I personally think if Obama's plan does happen we will end alot of our private donations and the world will suffer, including here at home. the richest people in the US donate hundreds of millions every year but Obama's tax plan will have an extreme negative affect on donations and thus will affect the world.
  4. Quotename one socialist country that has endured longer than the US, that the lower 20% of the population has more than ours, and has not been invaded buy another country and split up or lost land? if our system, although not perfect, has endured this long, why would we want to change direction? lets fix the problems not change our entire path.
  5. So, Americans as a whole have made some piss poor decisions in at least the last 4 years. Greed has lead to a complete collapse of confidence and the financial system. Yet the guy with less than 100 days in office is to blame? That just doesn't make any sense. I certainly don't agree with all the actions he is taking, but to lay such massive blame before results are even measurable is insane. The current drop in the DOW is due to the numbers released pertaining to the 4th Quarter of 2008. The man wasn't even president yet. I know that many on here want Obama to fail, but you are screaming before you are even allowing him to fail, which certainly devalues your message. Obama's approval rating this morning was 62% (Gallup) vs 26% disapprove. The whiners on here are still sore that "The Deregulator" lost in November.
  6. who said anything about getting elected? the left wants to ram shit down our throughts and are using fear to do it. Hello Patriot Act, warrantless wiretapping, and war in Iraq. Both parties are guilty on this front, but I'd say the Republicans are even worse about it. Blues, Dave the patriot act i have mixed feelings on, if used properly can be a very good thing but if missused could be very bad. unfortunatly the gov rarely does things properly.
  7. Spoken as if this were the government's money to begin with...Bill, if you leave the money in the economy in the first place, not print unsecured notes and bills, and tax the shit out of everyone, the economy will recover. These "bailouts" or "stimuli" have nothing to do with the economy. They are page one of the democrat book titled "Tax and Spend". It is about consolidating power through government programs, spending now on wealth yet-to-be-created, and creating unfunded mandates for decades to come.
  8. That's revisionist history. So, in the interest of historical completeness: For all his cheerleading (which there was), the Reagan administration was also a skilled practitioner of The Politics Of Fear: Reagan capitalized on people's paranoia's of invasion by Communists, gay men with AIDS, brown-ish immigrants and "welfare queens". In 1980, he launched his presidential campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi with a speech championing "states' rights", long a Deep South civil rights era code-phrase used to embody Southern whites' fears of blacks. Those are just a few examples. So while much of Reagan's messages were positive, plenty of them were very negative fear-mongering, too. the difference wasn't that he told people what was happening, he left the public feeling it was being taken care of and we could live our lives. A positive outlook coming from the president means alot to how the people react and Obama isn't helping things with his sky is falling act.
  9. I've heard this before, but I never saw anything on it. Who were his 'buddies' and where do the complaints of elitism fall into place. i guess you were sleeping during the election or watched only cnn.

chuckakers will chime in soon to tell us that Barney Frank made them do it. actually it had alot to do with Cox and clinton. I posted the article on another thread a couple days ago. The "Enron Loophole" of which you write was sponsored by Phil Gramm (R) and supported by John "the Deregulator" McCain. Nice try though. as it was pointed out it was wrote with a dem and signed by Clinton. if the left wants to blame bush for signing bills the last 2 years for everything the dem's wrote then i guess you need to blame Clinton for everything he signed.

I'm glad one Republican thinks executive bonuses in failing companies are wrong. I'm sure someone on here will wail "but it's in their contract". most rep don't believe a ceo should get a bonus from a failing company. I personally think they should loose everything if the company fails, just like the rest of us.

  14. positive is not on the lefts agenda. Fear is what they need to make changes. the left has no intention of being positive until election time.
  15. Me: I'll take Moronic Assertions for $200 please, Alex. Alex: We didn't really land on the moon in 1969; The Holocaust never actually happened (and Hitler was a swell guy that just never got a break from the liberal media); The New Deal didn't work. Me: What are incorrect claims made by tin-foil hatters? Alex: Correct. We also would have accepted "incorrect claims made by people who lack an accurate understanding of history." Pick again. proven that the new deal didn't work. the unemployment rate had decreased about 10% during FDR's first term but had gone back up 5% and was climing during his second term until the build up started for the war.
  16. sounds good Obama already passed bush's spending and he has 3 years 11 months left.
  17. putting it in my right hand then taking it out of my left isn't a tax cut it is deception.
  18. my attitude is pull all US money and aid to those that "don't like us" and wait, then we will see a change in attitudes toward us. everyone wants our money and aid but hates us, well it is the way we are that creates the money and aid that they receive. they can't have it both ways.
  19. I see the spending but cutting taxes? what cuts have there been?
  20. That's not strictly true now is it? There's an awful lot of inherited wealth for a start, with lazy bastards just lounging around on their piles of cash. Also (although not stated) - working hard does not always lead to wealth ... at least not for the worker! working hard does pay off if you have the drive to better yourself. using you brain gets you to the next level. If you are working for min wage 40-50 hrs a week it is your own fault not someone else's and you deserve what you get.
  21. This is serious. If these guys can't define the problem properly, there solutions are not going to work. Comments? the new deal didn't work in 1932 what makes them think it will work now ?
  22. Thanks for clarifying that! No problem. I think they each should get a chance in a reeducation camp first. They could be subjected to such horrible tortures as Mathematics, Biology, and Civics until they see the error of their ways. and I would give the left lessons in paying your own way, hard work and i can spend my money how I want I've made a 6 figure income for the last 20 years, work hard, pay MY own way, paid off my house, pay my taxes without whining, have never been unemployed since leaving school, and consider myself left of center
