  1. the big pain is what is yet to come, paying on the debt created by government.
  2. Ther was a law that stated a senator cannot be apointed to a office that they voted in pay raises for, since Hillary voted for the raise to sec of state she shouldn't have recieved the position. therefor she should be ousted.
  3. and at what percent do you consider it to be a problem? I am just one business and have seen alot of this over the last 6 years. this countries liberal agenda is breading this kind of behavior and it will get worse with the liberals in the white house. nothing that has been done over the last 12 months has encouraged responsibility. everything has been spend and the government will bail you out. What message does that send to the people of america?
  4. i guess this is a proud moment for the land of Lincoln, 3 govenors are jailbirds and one on the way there. Our 44th president earned his rise to president in this political arena and now runs our country. God help us all.
  5. no she shouldn't have been given treatment, this will probably be anouther welfare case we taxpayers will need to pay for.
  6. as far as willing to live through a depression, of course i don't want a depression, but if one happens, i'll live through it, as will almost everyone else. i just don't believe that this stimulus is going to stave one off if it is coming. the money is just going to come out way too fucking slow to get money moving around. if you want to get money moving, you have to put it in the hands of consumers, and the only way i agree with doing that is to not take it from them in them first place. they don't want to do that because they're afraid people will do terrible things like save it or pay off debt. WTF!?!? aren't we in this mess because people didn't save money and couldn't pay their debts? that is excactly why we are in this mess, people think they are entitled to what every they want, they are not. they are entitled to only what they work for, anything they recieve that they did not work for is charity or welfare. Government needs to lean how to be responsible and frugal with their spending and then maybe the people will follow in that example.
  7. Do you really, no shit, see these people every day? What business are you in that these are the people with whom you associate? I own a business that is right between the low income and middle class area of the city I am in. I have actually had one person tell me that they were saving their welfare check for gambling the next weekend and having to use it for car repairs ruined their weekend. The car is a 2001 denali with $7800 in rims and tires on it! The gambling boat in Joliet IL will cash your welfare check at the window (seen it done). the welfare system is being severly abused and needs major renovations to the programs.
  8. if it means not becoming a country like the ones we have been fighting against, then yes i will take a depression. Hard times shows who the weak are. the strong minded, strong willed always clime to the top in tough times and that is what we don't have running the country now. What we have now is weak liberals running the country that let the whining of a few dictate how this country is run, not to the betterment of the whole country but to apease a few lazy weak minded people that can't support themselves because they won't get off their asses and work themselves into independence. We are becoming a nation of whiners and welfare recipients that think they are entitled to whatever their nieghbor has. Every day I see people that are on welfare and food stamps that won't work because they don't have to. They do have a big screen tv, $10k in rims on their cars, and spend their welfare check at the boat gambling, but we pay for their house, medical, and food. With every bailout (welfare check) we give these people we make our nation weaker and more dependant on other countries. we as a nation are becoming a welfare nation dependant on other countries to survive and that will cost us dearly in the future.
  9. and the new deal by FDR was mainly spent on infrastructure and did creat temoprary jobs. this bill is a partisan piece of shitfilled pork. If this bill passes, them dem party will probably sink their chances of having control of congress in 2-4 years.
  10. I'm a big supporter of public schools, and I don't like vouchers. I realize that parochial school parents support them, and I understand their logic (even if, on balance, I disagree with them). But if your stepdaughter's school is a public school, it was totally wrong for them to make the kids do that. Private schools may have specialized missions; but, in terms of things like politics, religion and ideology, public schools are supposed to be agenda-neutral. I don't blame you for being pissed. The publisc school system is good but needs to be made to be acountable to offer only teaching, not to express views of the teachers. the voucher program would make schools acountable by loosing funding if the students went elsewere. right now they just do what they want and the parents have no recourse but to let their kids be influenced by teachers that are impressing their values on our kids.
  11. it is not the information that is bad, it is how it is taught. Learning the teachings of science and religion is good to expand knowlege and understanding for all. the problem I have is when the teacher or school uses the classroom to move their personal agenda forward. My wife just had an argument in the grade school when they made her daughter and the rest of the class wright a letter to Obama about how the voucher program was disciminatory and shouldn't be allowed. well our views are that if you can send your kid to a better school then you should have that option. Obama had that why can't everybody else? My point being, knowledge is good, understanding is good, but having the school or other educating body force their views on the young minds of our children is wrong. therefore they should be made to teach what is out there to teach and let the families decide how to use that in their value system.
  12. Nothing FDR did worked better than WW2. people seem to not want to understand that FDR's policies did nothing but extend the depression. when FDR took office the unemployment rate was about 25%, after his new deal plan it dropped to about 14% but by the time his second term started unemployment was back to about 20%. The jobs FDR created were only temporary and when the new deal money ran out so did the jobs. fortunatly for FDR wwII started so he could ramp up manudacturing and that is what ended the depression. The only real bright spot in FDR's new deal was that the projects he promoted in the new deal like roads, dams and other infrastructure, gave us the ability to produce the products needed for the war. With that in mind, spending money to build our infrastructure and other areas like that would give us benifits down the road, but the pork in this bill for the left's personal agenda will only sink us deeper into a fiscal nightmare for years to come.
  13. Um, Obama didn't say that. He said he wants a dialogue. I guess some people confuse dialogue with concession, but they're not actually the same thing. and that opened the door to Iran saying what it wants us to do or there will be no peace. we are on the defensive now not them.
  14. it is kinda hard to vote for the ones that are running, usually it is voting for the one that is less likely to destroy our country. even when you vote you my not get the one you want just because there is cheating, scandles, voter fraud, and stupid gullable people voting. the hole process is flawed to the point we can't get good people in office anymore.
  15. it is kinda funny how our new president is in office a week and has already got us being the ones that need to concede and accept Iran's terms. kinda fucked up imo.
  16. Quote>Letting each state set their own regulations means that we will need >different equipment or different programming to work on those cars. That was true for a few years (i.e. CA cars needed different equipment than non-CA cars) but manufacturers rapidly standardized on the newer technologies. Thus every car in the US now has an engine controller, catalytic converter etc. Quote the government made the car companies standardize some things to make the diagnostic eqipment more universal but did not mandate anything for software or anything other than basic engine controls. each company can use what they want for abs, body control, air bags, ect. they do have different engine computers for green states and alot of different diesel cars can't be sold in those states due to emissions.
  17. it isn't bad to want better, just the speed that it changes. It would be nice to pay off a piece of equipment before you need to change it out. Being in the auto industy, i know what it takes to stay currant with the constantly changing electronics on cars. with the EPA saying all states need to follow the same rules and giving a slow change to those rules makes it much more cost effective to implament. Letting each state set their own regulations means that we will need different equipment or different programming to work on those cars. the cost of keeping up with technology changes in the automotive repair end is between 10k and 40k a year just for my shop. fixing what we have now is the best way to reduce emissions and bringing all the states along together greatly ruduces the cost of the repair equipment by standardizing the equipment. Everyone seems to forget about what the total cost is of creating a car. About 25% of a cars total lifetime emissions is in the manufacturing of the vehicle itself. also making multiple pieces of equipment to repair those vehicles costs $s and recorces that could be better used in other endevors. people that buy a car because it gets 10% better gas milage will need to drive that car for 60-80k miles just to brake even with the emission levels caused by the production of the vehicle. people that use E85 actually pay more per year on fuel costs and use more gallons of fuel. E85 gets about 20% less miles per gallon so to brake even on the dollars spent on fuel you need about $1+ difference in E85 to regular gas. Hybreds wear out tiress twice as fast, still have a lead acid battery under the hood and also have a drive battery (although less toxic) that no company in the world is set up to recycle. these batteries when replaced are being stored untill someone finds someway to recycle them. although I agree with making enviromently safe cars, keeping everyone on the same page with gradual changes is the way to go, not letting everyone go off in all directions is the key to making changes that are the most efficient and enviromentally friendly.
  18. I think its a VERY clear signal to Pakistan and their Taliban supporters. If you cant eliminate the threat to peace and stability to your neighbor.. Afghanistan.. then we will. IT will prevent the Talaban from feeling all warm and fuzzy in their third world shit holes. If you will not make peace.. we will find you and spray the little vermin down with Al Queda_RAID Hey! We agree! i guess war is good only if she believes it is good. smack Bush for doing the same thing that has just happened under Obama. I'm sure the left will start crying when this one is still going on in 8 years and costing 10 billion a month.
  19. Thanks for your unsubstantiated opinion. One of mine is that in order to win a war, you must be better than your opponent, and at all costs avoid becoming him. Blues, Dave to not become him you must first defeat him.
  20. what's debatable? did we loose WWII and they have lied to me all these years?
  21. Well we did not need to create massive slave labor and death camps to beat the Nazi's... although we did throw a bunch of Japs into some pretty harsh places out of stupidity. I guess you would have been good with that back then. We won WWII because we did what it took, period. We didn't let anyone or any thing stand in our way and we used anything that we could, including the bomb. was dropping the bombs on 2 major cities in japan was not the human thing to do but it did save poss hundreds of thousands of american lives. but i guess that would have been ok with the liberal left to not use something that actually saved our guys.
  22. What if, in order to be better than your opponent, you have to become like him? Or, more precisely, do some of the things your opponent does, in order to win? well then i guess the left doesn't mind speaking german, russian, or what ever the fuck they are speaking in the middle east.
  23. the country is broke and now we get to pay for other countries abortions? I am pro choice but not pro " lets pay for everyones mistakes ". why can't we just focus on us for a while? Actually, it probably saves us money in the long run. and how does paying for abortions overseas save us money?
  24. the country is broke and now we get to pay for other countries abortions? I am pro choice but not pro " lets pay for everyones mistakes ". why can't we just focus on us for a while?
  25. The torture and subsequent murder of un-tried people sounds a lot like something a terrorist would do, doesn't it? It is important for the US to demonstrate that we are willing to hold ourselves to a higher standard. That means upholding human rights, providing swift and just trials, and being "better than the other guy". Doing dick shit like waterboarding and saying it's not torture, or trying to justify torture by questioning patriotism or suggesting it's worth the "win" is foolish and generates more enemies for the US. .jim People who are not willing to do what is necessary to win wars will eventually be oppressed by people who are. We DO hold ourselves to a higher standard. That's why our "torture" consists of waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and playing old Dean Martin records real loud. Their's consists of rape with splintered broomsticks, daily beatings, genital eletrocution, and a variety of other wonderful things. Get a grip on reality before you are a muslim by force. Idiots. Geez. +2 in order to win a war you must be willing to go at least 1 step further than who you are fighting. anything less is a waste of time and effort. showing weakness (like pulling out of the war, releasing prisoners, or even having a large percentage of the population show outrage for the war itself) only instills confidence and resolve in the ones you are fighting and makes the war harder to fight and win and that ultimately costs more lives, time and resourses.
