    Forum Update

no problem boss man... we appreciate you giving us this place to play free of charge. Ok, now everyone go to the pub and buy HH a beer... You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  2. ... either that, or a couple hundred companies wanted to increase productivity for a couple days and paid HH to take them down. You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  3. This would also work well if you did something silly and put a hole in your canopy.... Or, what I heard a lot of: "Hey, sorry to hear about your leg. Uhh.. since you're not going to be using your canopy/rig/goggles/altimeter, can I borrow it for awhile?" Damn vultures.... Ok, well I didn't mind lending my canopy out, because it was enough for that person to decided to go with it and get rid of the spinetto that might have hurt them. You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  4. those are some nice ones! Now could you get dz.com on the computer in the backround, and take another picture? You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  5. Well, here's my thought on that (and I may just be talking straight out my arse) Yes, a highly loaded canopy should be more rigid, however, it's still a tiny wing. If the turbulence is bad enough to affect it just slightly, it's more apt to go all to hell a lot faster, you had less holding you in the air to begin with. You don't scare me! 6. that's hilarious! Try reading the forums through it --- Gear and Banging The "Give it to me" Dropzone Gear and Banging forum where you can wad pulls any gear related blows and shafts. Spews forum is being moderated by a plowing Senior "Suck my tits dry" Rigger. --- Wait... who's moderating that forum? You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!

probably something stupid like a pocket protector or name badge You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  8. It sounds like that Xaos could have just as easily been a tiny Vengence. The way I read it, he hit some bad turbulence. All it takes is for one side to 'collapse' just for an instant, the whole thing spins, you now have line twists and a spinning main at 50 feet. One of the dangers of flying a pocket-rocket.... But if you want to blame it on the gear, to make you feel better about what you're flying... knock yourself out. You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!

If by 'they' you mean what are the women wearing - I"d say sunglasses. If you mean the men, I'd say wedding ring. You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!

  12. You might want to search through this forum, I think we talked about this before. The general concensus (IIRC) was that the IP5 wasn't going to be a great camera for skydiving. Lower picture quality, less battery time, I *think* it's missing the lanc port (for cam-eye) If you use it, let us know how it turns out. You don't scare me! 13. Little late here... but finally decided to add something... The first couple aren't normally what get you. I'm very comfortable putting my canopy down anywhere. Having put a number of jumps on a sames sized Stiletto and Sabre2 - I can tell you the Stiletto is less forgiving of mistakes. Good example - a good friend of mine was jumping a Stilletto, not loaded high at all (we're talking like 1.1/1) on one particular landing, reached for the ground in the middle of her flare. The canopy managed to turn about 90 degrees by the time she hit the ground, on her side, tumbling. Luckily she wasn't seriously hurt - everyone who saw the landing thought she was. A similar move under a Sabre2 would still be ugly, just not as ugly. BTW - she finally sold her stilletto and went to a sabre2, same size. You don't scare me! 14. Above 12 stories they have a *better* chance of surviving, they won't automatically survive. Something about it gives them time to get their feet down, and they have one helluva "hug the beech ball" (I know, it's 'beach') position. A long time ago, on a wreck dot far far away, we had this discussion. My idea was drouge chutes for the kitties. The plan was to, right before exit, pack some alka seltzer up their ass, then shove the drouge up there... otherwise, you might go through too many cats in one day if you keep losing them. You'd better be pretty floaty though, I think the last guess of a cat's terminal velocity was somewhere around 60 mph. Birdman flight with kitties? You don't scare me! 15. Right, I understand that much. I've double checked the tnsnames file and it is in fact setup to start communication on 1521. The problem comes when oracle randomly picks a port to continue communication. That's why I asked how your 'netstat' display shows you still communicating on 1521 - I've checked multiple workstations here, and even had a friend of mine check his environment and every workstation's connection to the db is on some random port number, usually in the 2,000 - 4,000 range. From Oracle: Firewalls, Windows NT, and Redirections: ======================================== On Windows NT, when a connect request comes in to the listener, the listener spawns an Oracle thread. This thread is a listening thread and is started on a wild-card address, meaning that the thread is listening for connections on the current IP address and an unused port number given to the thread by the networking software. The Oracle thread will contact the listener using IPC and inform the listener of its listening address, connection load, and some other status information. The listener sends back to the client a REDIRECT address. This tells the client to reconnect to the newly spawned Oracle thread. Since this Oracle thread is on a random port (a range of ports cannot be defined), the firewall will not let the connection through. The resulting error is usually a TNS-12203. You don't scare me! I'm in love

That's why I said 'take the new off it!' I dunno though..will end up costing me some money I'm sure. And there's sure to be ass-kissing and flattery involved You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  17. get used to it, skdiving equipment is almost as bad as computers. When I bought my new rig a while back (Sabre/Mirage/Raven) - within a year, the Sabre2 was introduced, mirage started putting on chest rings (Unisys) and the Raven Max was a little while after all that. Oh well... it happens... You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!

    I'm in love

that's right.... go ahead and get the 'new' out of it. Now don't you think something a blackberry/white/blue color would look better with your gear? I mean, red white and black just don't quite seem 'you' You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  19. Didn't one of those guys write something to Parachutist about this? Pleading with DZOs to *not* let 16 year olds jump? I was thinking it was Bill or Ted. heh.. I said Bill and Ted. I'll go see if I can find it.... Thanks to the human search engine (Phreezone) - March 2002 Parachutist, pg 13 "Too Great a Risk" submitted by Bill Booth You don't scare me! 20. No... Borderware Sucks. Andy - If that's just more than the initial connection - how did you make it do that? Because I've looked on 2 different 8i servers now, and they both were making connection up in the 2000s You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  21. Andy, This is on Win 2000 Your "someForeignHost.net" is the server with oracle on it? Are you sure it's Oracle 8? The initial connection is sent to 1521, but, from what I understand, then the Oracle server radomly picks a port to communicate on. A netstat for me looks like: TCP termserv:4664 dbserv:2153 ESTABLISHED TCP termserv:4666 dbserv:2154 ESTABLISHED TCP termserv:4765 dbserv:2197 ESTABLISHED TCP termserv:4883 dbserv:2251 ESTABLISHED --- You don't scare me! 22. We have enough geeks on here, thought I'd ask... I'm not having any luck elsewhere. First of all - I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to Oracle, this is just part of a 'turn-key system' that isn't turn-key at all. Anyway... here's the problem - Webserver on the secure net of a firewall (DMZ) trying to access Oracle 8i db on the internal network. The version of Oracle we had before this (7.something) worked just fine - pop open TCP 1521 and I think it was 1526, and life was good. Now, in Larry's infinite wisdom, things have changed. As near as I've been able to figure, the initial contact with the db server is on 1521, then it assigns a random port somewhere above 1024. Without opening everything above 1024 up, how do we make this work? I've tried the USE_SHARED_SOCKETS thing - it didn't work. Thoughts? Suggestions? Prayers? You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  23. what the heck, I'm bored, I'll pick it up for dave not my best work, but I do have better ways to spend my time.... You don't scare me! I got chunks of guys like you in my stool!!
  24. Are you going for a debate here fred? No one will argue that! Now, we could get the vi vs. emacs thing going again.... ... I forget how the rest of it goes, but you're mother's a whore!!
  25. speaking of 420 ... how stoned would you have to be to forget your leg straps?! goodness glad he lived to not make that mistake again... ... I forget how the rest of it goes, but you're mother's a whore!!
