DSE, I agree. I want my students to be focused and visualizing at any point in time that we are not reviewing critical altitudes, the dive flow, and hand signals. I would politely remind the other jumper that the student needs to focus on his or her objectives of the skydive. They can chat on the ground later. 0:6: What an amazing weekend. Friday got in one jump before it got dark, but it was a fun one! Friday night was girls night out. So much fun. I should have been worthless on Saturday but I felt amazing. Saturday - 0 jumps - went to Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY to watch the fall meet and do a little wagering (also bet on the Breeders Cup races in Santa Anita). I cashed 0 tickets - big time first for me. But I had a really good time with a good friend. Sunday I got to the dz early. It was absolutely gorgeous in Indiana this weekend - temps well into the 70's. 2 really fun three way jumps. 2 AFF jumps with an absolutely phenominal student. He is also one of our pilots and his dad is a skydiver - so he has some amazing natural talent. Is it wrong to give your student a kiss pass? Just wondering! 1 jump - 2 plane 8 way. We put all 4 new AFF Instructors in trail plane and made a bet that whoever gets to base first (from lead plane) gets bragging rights. Two of the guys docked pretty simultaneous (even video makes it hard to tell who "won") and I was there a split second behind them! The 4th made it in and it was awesome. Now it is back to work and I am mad that the weekend has left me! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Have you been drinking tonight Trip?! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Yes. Recently during the AFF Instructor rating course. I am not sure if I breathed during the practice and evaluation jumps. When I landed I was so out of breath I felt like I had just run a marathon - completley gasping for air... Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

That's funny!!! And hey... guess what I am going to do the same today! I actually have to ditch a little earlier as I have an AFF student at 3 p.m. today. :) Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Today going to the DZ. Then this evening the girls of the dz are all getting dressed up and going out. :) Should be fun! Tomorrow going to Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY to bet on some horses. Sunday going to the dz. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

It is in the upper 50's. Sunny. Gorgeous. I asked a co-worker to close my office door around 5:00. I am totally ditching work to head to the dz and sneak in one decent jump before it gets dark. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Born/raised in the same hometown of Lizzie Borden, Fall River, MA. Left there 25+ years ago and bounced around on Govt. dime ever since. Where did you start jumping? I started in Leabanon, Maine... 15 years ago... so you were long gone from New England! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Average lows in Atlanta for the winter are in the 30's.... they do have coats! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Ok 8... I am joining in the fun. I don't expect you to get what we are all saying. I think it is obvious you won't. You are so opposed to a 170 (the "safer") canopy in the opinions of people here with thousands of jumps, instructors and riggers - because you "can handle" a 150 just fine. I hope you can in the not so perfect conditions. I weigh approx 145 pounds and jump a Pilot 168. I have over 500 jumps and just about 140 on the Pilot. Before that I was jumping a Triathlon 220 (I had jumped a Sabre 2 190 for about 20 jumps before purchasing the Pilot) that I had since being off student status. And I have to tell you. I really enjoyed that canopy and love the hell out of this Pilot. Can you give us any valid reasons why at your level you are opposed to jumping a 170 square foot canopy until you really begin to perfect your canopy piloting skills? I also lived in Atlanta for a while (95-96) and a couple weeks after I moved there they had about 1/2 inch of snow. Atlanta was completely shut down for 3 - yes 3 days!!!!! Later that season they canceled school because it was 11 degrees. Ok, I understand not having plows or being able to deal with snow (even 1/2 inch) but don't tell me the kids don't have coats!!!!!! Where did you grow up? Born and raised in Central Mass. Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

I wont ever have to shovel snow again... Yeah, you can just shut it Deedy!!!!! Freak winter storm in central Florida!!!!! Yep, I see it happening! Why oh why did I ever leave Florida the brief time I lived there?!?!?!?! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Brrrrrrrr... Sorry, I live in Orlando. Getting kinda spoiled with the 80+ temps. I do not miss shoveling snow. Yeah I don't like you very much right now!!!! It is sad when I think 60 is warm. Isn't it? Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Will do Sarldo!!! For Indiana we have a kick ass weekend ahead with temps in the mid to upper 60's on Friday, Saturday and Sunday... need to jump before it all goes away... I went home to rake leaves yesterday afternoon and thought "give it a month and I am going to be shoveling snow". UGH!!!! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

I have a big office and a big window... and would also much rather be outside. BUT the good news is it is roughly 55 degrees out and sunny and the drop zone will be open in about 3 hours. I can get one good jump in before the sun sets. And it will be worth the hour drive! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Hey Nat... since you are in London I had assumed you have the Brittish accent... but not the case since you are from Canada? Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Our dz beer of choice is Natty Light. UGH!!!! So, when beer dues are paid it is paid with cheap natty light... and then I get myself some Landshark :) Though we now have a Kegerator... so we drink whatever is in the Kegerator.... God I love the beer light! Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

Where is the "kick him in the nuts" option? Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I -
There is a gear section on here that reviews all canopies made and their flight characteristics. I would suggest going there first, then post additional questions you have. If you looked at a Stiletto you would know immediately it is not the canopy for a novice. Description: Since its release, the Stiletto has become the most sought after high performance "elliptical" nine cell canopy in the world. Whether it's the soft openings, responsiveness, extremely fast rate of turn, flat glide, or incredible landing capabilities, the Stiletto is the canopy of choice for those pilots who have taken the time (and jumps) to hone their piloting skill. I would reconsider not taking advice from complete strangers... Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I
