  1. I was on a volunteer fire dept. many years ago in a very small community. Dogs were not a problem though almost every farm had a couple running loose. I think it was because nobody tolerated an aggressive dog so they were culled out long before they could be a problem. I imagine Fido wouldn't like the looks of a fire axe much. 2. I think every canceled 911 call should be checked out by an officer. But what of firefighters? My question concerned a call that wasn't canceled. How do professional firefighters handle dogs that show aggressiveness? 4. The best lessons I learned while getting my cert were taught on my practical exam. The DE was ex-Air Force and since we had lots of time left he took me through the entire maneuver sequence, including recovery from unusual attitudes, with the panel covered. That alone caused me to fly "outside the cockpit" far more than anything anyone else had ever told me. My sympathy to the victims, their families, and their friends. 5. Good questions. One I would like to add: If the call had been for a fire and not canceled, what would the firefighters have done when confronted by a barking dog of unknown aggressiveness? 6. Have you tried microwaving it? I buy it about 5 lbs at a time and fry it until it is 1/2 cooked then freeze it. When I am ready for it I let it thaw in the fridge and finish cooking in the micro. Faster than frying every time, cheaper than the precooked stuff. 12. Everything you said is, unfortunately, true. I feel for the multitudes who will never get a shot at the big time, regardless of talent, just because they don't have a gimmick. 13. Eh, she's just a marketing gimmick. Literally hundreds of far better racers (some of whom have won more races than she has ever entered) are left sitting on the sidelines because they don't have a marketable butt. This was probably the final step in the transformation from NASCAR to NASJOKE. 14. If a dog approaches me and is barking I always assume it is not friendly until proven otherwise. With that in mind it is hard to say just what happened. The only ones who know for sure are the officer and the dogs, and the dogs aren't talkin'. Having had the pleasure of the company of canines almost all my life, I can say from experience that dogs that are friendly towards family can very often be aggressive towards strangers. Dogs also get braver when in numbers. Just a couple months ago I had to have my pet put down when she became extremely aggressive towards a little girl. Completely out of character for her as she had not even barked at a person before. 19. So? Science IS self-correcting, unlike religion and politics. Ah! But religion and politics are self correcting. For example..... Religion: "We can't explain it" is corrected by "God works outside man's scientific laws." Politics: "We screwed up" is corrected by "its for the best in the long run". 21. It doesn't matter if your a Republican, Democrat, Independent, Nazi, Communist, or Martian....the GDP is not rated in percentage. I don't know why you are insisting it is rated in % when it is measured in $. The change in the GDP is rated in %. I'm an ignorant SOB when it comes to financial markets, but at least I know how GDP is measured. 22. As I tried to bet Mike (Mneal), it will be within 20% of 4.8% either way. I still feel that way. You are so far off the mark you don't even know why your wrong. 4.8% isn't within 1000% either way. No shit. 25. There will always be idiots. Looking at the graph, I wonder why the red and blue lines merge around 12 months post passage? I would hate to see it happen, but i did read a while back one suggestion to eventually eliminate the majority of the problem. It was suggested that all new cars be required to have a jamming device to prhibit the use of cell phones while the vehicle is moving. An exception would be made for calling 911 or other authorities. Yes, it's drastic so let's hope it never comes to that.
