Canadian Women's Hockey Celebration
Belgian_Draft replied to Belgian_Draft's topic in Speakers Corner
So exactley where in the rule you quoted does it say the IOC owns the facility? Where does it say they have complete control over the athletes? No law enforcement agency expressed any concerns about the celebration. BTW, who is angry? I, as well as others reading your rants, are getting a good laugh out of how you think some great evil was done and that somehow it is up to you to decide who is right and who is wrong. get over yourself already. The IOC got anal, the team gave an obviously insincere apology to apease the IOC, and everybody is happy. Except for you since you seem to feel they should be flogged before being drawn and quartered. You STILL have not shown where they did anything that could be construed as unsportsmanlike. That shouldn't take much effort. First rule of holes: When you realize you're in one...STOP DIGGING. Very true. But nobody says we can't hand him a bigger shovel.

Holy shit that's funny! hat has to hit an all time high on the irony score. The only one here with a problem is the guy who got his panties all in a bunch because of his jealousy of a group of talented athletes who won a team gold medal and held a private little celebration on the ice well after everyone else but a couple photogs had left. Get the fuck over yourself, lucky. Get the fuck over yourself. That's what I have been trying to get you to address.... how did they violate any code of sportsmanship? They were alone! They didn't throw their victory in the face of their opponent, they had the class to celebrate in private. Maybe if you would wait until you are sober before posting here you would understand what is being said and your spelling would not be so awful and yu posts would make some kind of sense. Maybe you need to do as Amazon suggested. Give it a try. You're trying to show what a great human you are, I was merely giving you the opportunity to show us that in all ways other than mere words. Anyone can say flowery things, then take teh crutches away from a 5-year old kid. Here ya go, answer these: 1) How do you feel about people w/o HC? 2) Rich people who have 20 lifetimes of cash who use that cash as score rather than survival, yet whine about the gov removing a little more of that score to pay for things for the poor and/or to pay down the debt? The money rich people (or poor) have belongs to them to do with as they please. It is not for the government to force them to pay for health care for others. It is sure as hell cold hearted not to help, but it is their money. Do you sit at your table/desk each year filling out tax forms wishing there was some way you could pay more taxes? I didn't think so. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

Once again you show how big a difference there is between what you perceive as reality and what actually is reality. Show us where there is a hard rule that the ladies broke. There isn't. The only one that the IOC could argue as being violated would be one that requires athletes to retstrain from partaking in any actions that may be construed as detrimental to the image of the Olympics. Fine. So if they raise a fuss about a women's hockey team celebrating their gold medal in an otherwise empty arena, than they have to take issue with the city/IOC passing out 100,000 free condoms. That's not even getting into the rest of the nightlife that continues for the entire run of the games. Get over it , dude. As always your jealousy of talented athletes (or anybody with any kind of talent) shines through loud and clear. Oh, one more thing.... Who the hell are YOU to talk about ethics???? Oh great. Now, besides being an economics guru, a top-notch trial attorney, an aircraft designer, materials expert, peerless pilot and political strategist, you are now an expert on international athletic competition and IOC rules & procedures. We are so lucky to have you here as a member of this forum. If you believe that I have some great waterfront property in Florida I'll make you a great deal on. In case you hadn't noticed the outcry against the IOC was a lot more widespread than just here on this forum. You don't see it as a revocation issue? You aren't very familiar with how the IOC works. Since when has the Rose Bowl and BCS been professional sports? How is waiting until the other team and all the spectators leave before celebrating on the ice not respectful? How????? +1 It wasn't that long ago that athletes from some countries had no choice but to win. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. -

Yea, but the olympics are about worldwide sportsmanship. Unless it's in strict privacy, celebrations must be PC. Even NFL doesn't allow excessive celebration. Their celebration had nothing to do with sportsmanship and most people agree that there was nothing wrong with their actions. The apology they offered was expected. Since the IOC makes the rules and can interpret them anyway they see fit, the team had no choice. It was either apologize or face the possibility of losing their medal. Yes, the NFL has rules about excessive celebration. But those are for during the game. Ever watch the end of a Superbowl? Final game of a World Series? Stanley Cup? Rose Bowl? BCS national championship game? The only thing these girls did that was different was wait until the place was empty, which I see as a great show of respect to their opponent. I was thinking the same thing. The basic hp/weight ratio may be ok, but the chassis/tire/aero combo is way off the mark. VERY sweet ride regardless. In the Democrats you'll find supporters and detractors. For a person to be chastised by the Republican party he has to murder somebody and even then, as long as it was a Democrat he murdered it still wouldn't be that big of a deal. These women are Olympic champions in one of the roughest team sports around. I pity the fool that tries tell any of them they are too young to drink. Set the woods on fire, girls! You earned it! If the arena was full of people I would agree. But it was empty except for the team, coaches, and a few photographers who would have photographed their celebration regardless of where it was held. I guess one has to be willing to fail a LOT before getting that good. Belarus-Gold, USA-Silver, China-Bronze Maybe they can combine it with curling?
