Two things really irk me about merging. 1) Truckers who think nobody should merge past the point they do so they intentionally block traffic in the merging lane. 2) Rubber-neckers who slow to a crawl to try to get a glimpse of the carnage way on the other side of the median. Kinda along the same lines.... I stopped at the local UDF to pick up some milk this evening and while one clerk was ringing up the sale the other clerk (maybe 20-25) asked him, "There ain't a "H" in"shelf", is there?" . . . I'm one of them. I never touched algebra until my mid-twenties when I entered college. Much easier to learn that stuff at a young age. MUCH easier. I thought Algebra was a requirement to graduate high school... so how is this possible? Also, it is a pet peeve of mine when people say they won't use math in their current job. Do you have a need to think in your current job? If not then you won't need it. Math/Algebra/Calculus isn't about using the actual formulas, etc. later in life. The purpose is to apply thinking and analytical skills to every day problems. Math trains your mind to think. I graduated almost 30 years ago from a school system with a total enrollment(K-12) of under 600. Algebra was not required, just basic arithmetic and some geometry. Where did I post the cops version? Where does the owners version differ from the cops other than whether she was justified in shooting the dog? The only one showing bias here is YOU. You dislike cops and women so you assume she was some evil incarnation whose only purpose to visit the house was top shoot the dog. Uh, yeah...right. Ok. I'm biased as all get out. I called the cop a dumb cunt, I assume she is lying, I assume the dog was posing no threat to her at all, I assume she shot the dog just for fun. Yep, I'm biased. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

Hmmmm....he starts with the PA's, then accuses everybody else of diverting the subject. People can post all the signs they want warning about a dog. They still have the responsibility to control that dog. If you have read the article you would see that the gate was open, and the owners watched the cop walk at least 40 yards onto their property, yet they either did not attempt to control or were unable to control the dog. I twill be interesting to see if you can respond without insulting anyone, including the cop. A person making that assumption and accusation based only on a news report clearly tells a lot about that person. ARe you really that sexist or are you just pretending? Leave it to you, the sheeternal aircraft stuctural expert to drift from signage issues to this. I guess you can't defend the cunt's actions either. It appears you are. I have no idea what "sheeternal" is. Probably just the next thing you will claim to be an expert in, Mr. Plumber.

Why in the hell would anybody want a dog so viscious they need to put 4 warning sings out??? Dog like that should be kept in kennel with double fencing set in concrete. And, in protecting its territory, if those dogs appeared violent or dangerous with no owner in sight to restrain it, I hope the cops shot it each and every time. Did you even read the article? The dog's owners assert that there was a family member on the porch when the cop shot the dog. These poor folks inadvertently dialed 911 and a cop showed up and shot their dog. Any cop that has judgment that poor has no business walking around with a gun and a badge. The last thing we need are nervous cops with itchy trigger fingers on the street. And that family member either made no attempt to control the dog or left it to bark at the cop. Either way, he left it up to the cop to deal with a barking, potentialy agrressive animal as she saw fit. And she did. And now they are pissed. Say Something "Nice" About the Opposition . . .

So you are going from known facts? I am, for all intents and purposes, assuming the officer is telling the truth. You are assuming she is lying. Go back to watching Magnum PI. Right back at ye, buddy. Right back at ye. Damn you make me laugh! You wrote, "Well, they weren't investigators, that's sensationalizing, she was the investigating officer." Whether or not there were exigent circs. is up to the investigators who investigate the event. So there are investigators. Understand? (I highly doubt it) Since she DID find reason to shoot the dog there is a higher chance of there being exigent circs. than not. We will all just have to wait for the final report to come out...even you. "College algebra" is an oxymoron. That stuff should be covered in 8th grade. +1 HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

Oh, the irony! Oh, wait, I forgot...you watch Matlock re-runs so you are an expert in the law. Got it. What? You mean an officer can discharge their firearm and no investigation is made? Since when? Yes. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

This is not an issue of breed, it's an issue of the officer ignoring the signage and not responding properly. Absent exigent circumstances, the appropriate procedure should have been to find another way to check for welfare. 911 call made. 911 call canceled. Department policy is to respond anyway. "Exigent circumstances" more than likely existed. It's up to the investigators to determine that. 911 calls being canceled when a situation still exists is not rare or isolated by any means. Most departments' policy is to respond as if the call was never canceled, i.e. 911 calls, in effect, cannot be undone. +1 I am also a dog lover, but I realize that with ownership comes responsibility and certain realities. One of those realities is that certain breeds have justified reputations and those breeds will not be given benefit of the doubt when a situation arrises. You might want to go back and re-read what I wrote. The interpretation I got from your post is that the government will ultimately win out. Did you mean something else? Those are not all that difficult. My suggestion is to get caught up 'cuz if you don't get a good grasp on simple stuff like this, the rest will absolutely bury you. If you REALLY feel you need to get the solution, try this. www.cramster.com HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

This doesn't change what I said. By law only the Supreme Court has the authority to decide whether the law is repugnant to the Constitution or not. If you think it is, follow the procedure to have it struck down as everyone else is doing. Failure to follow this procedure and just ignoring the law because you think it's repugnant will make you a criminal. You can ask those who refused to pay income tax because they thought the law was unconstitutional. I bet they have some valuable experience to share. I don't think you understand the concept. Let me give an example. Say the Federal Government passed a law that banned publication of any material unless it had been reviewed and approved for publication by a representative of the government. That law is obviously in direct violation to the Bill of Rights. Citizens have no duty to obey that law regardless of whether the SCOTUS has had a chance to look it over.
