Judge won’t dismiss war crimes suit against Blackwater
birdshit replied to skyrider's topic in Speakers Corner
But did Iraq have laws at the time of the alleged attack? Did they have a working constitution at the time? Using the American standard (which is a slippery slope I know) then they cant be prosecuted for breaking laws that weren't in affect at the time of the incident... Don't taze me bro! -
Judge won’t dismiss war crimes suit against Blackwater
birdshit replied to skyrider's topic in Speakers Corner
Thats a tough call... Sorry for your friend. If the guys in question mowed down a bunch of unarmed civilians in a public square, then they deserve to be prosecuted. But as far as my memory serves, the feds had nothing to hold them on since Iraq is outside the jurisdiction of the justice department. Now they are being tried for war crimes? Thats a stretch in my opinion. Maybe they will make it stick, but I doubt it. More likely they will wait several years for the legal wrangling to be done and cut em loose. edit to add: the oral sex part and the wife swapping part is just a red herring (unsubstantiated) and has nothing to do with the actual incident in question, it is just an attempt to smear their rep. -

Good point. I am sure we were called 'insurgents' by King George at some point. Lets clear up some of your so called "points" To add a little to the thread: If you look at the last 8 years of Bush&Cheney Inc., they: 1. Repealed the right to a trial by jury for any person detained by the federal government. for non-citizens What about Jose Padilla? Do some research. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Padilla_%28prisoner%29 2. Repealed the right to a speedy trial (8 years in gitmo without even a phone call)for non-citizens or battle feild prisoners What about Jose Padilla? Do some research. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Padilla_%28prisoner%29 3. Withdrew from the Geneva Conventions (CIA Torture policy)your interpitation Interpitation isnt a word. Interpretation is. 4. Worked very hard to repeal Row vs. Wade Really? When and where? 5. Repealed the protection against unreasonable search and seizure (i.e. NSA Wiretaps of American citizens without a court order - in violation of the FISA Act) again for non-citizens with plenty of help from your chozen party Wrong, and chosen is spelled with an 's'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSA_warrantless_surveillance_controversy Actually the NSA wiretapped 300,000 americans. Really. 6. Repealed the Posse Comitatus Act, which allowed him to use the military in law enforcement activities on American soil, expressly against the constitution. Really? Yes really. Do some research. I assume you have internet? On September 26, 2006, President Bush urged Congress to consider revising federal laws so that U.S. armed forces could restore public order and enforce laws in the aftermath of a natural disaster, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. These changes were included in the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007 (H.R. 5122), which was signed into law on Oct 17, 2006.[3] Section 1076 is titled "Use of the Armed Forces in major public emergencies". It provided that: The President may employ the armed forces... to... restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition... the President determines that... domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order... or [to] suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such... a condition... so hinders the execution of the laws... that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law... or opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.[4] And then we have tax cuts for the top 1% of the uber-rich, giveouts to big oil and corporations on the taxpayer dime, the outsourcing of American jobs to India and China, the 500 billion dollar trade deficit, 150 dollar a barrel oil, raping the social security trust fund, reduction of worker rights and busting up of unions, the deliberate lies told by the administration in the runup to the Iraq war... This is just damn funny. Thanks No problem. I am always good for a laugh Did I miss anything? Most all of it And that's just the stuff we know about... So far the democrats have told the justice department that they are going to respect the rights of the states to set drug policy and not prosecute individuals that are in compliance with state law, a right that was not bestowed to individuals in the Bush administration. So, we have the democrats adding rights, and Bush trashing the constitution/bill of rights every chance he got... So is it the democrats or the republicans that are trying to "stifle your rights?" What planet did you get this all from? earth. been there? Come ON rushmc. Everything I stated was 100% truth. If you cant see it then you need to open your eyes.

Damn, lucky! That is the best response point by point ever! I love it! Especially the part about: - He soon after set up concentration camps to house these people: -Liberal Democrats -Socialists -Communists -Homosexuals -Anyone not in-line with fascist Nazi Republican ideals Sounds like something George Bush would do... Why not just toss a grenade in the guys sleeping bag? Sheesh!

Too tired to respond to all that... yes, no, no, yes, maybe, your all wrong, etc. Just pretend I came back with something witty.

My bad, I guess I could do some research instead of trying to remember a national geographic article I read 15 years ago...

Don't worry folks, nothing is going to happen. America is so brainwashed, feminized and pacified that they would rather accept outright slavery to the federal government and forfeiture of all of their civil/constitutional rights than actually do something. That's why we all sit around while things like Gitmo, CIA Secret prisons, NSA Wiretaps, lying politicians, crooked politicians, corporate control of america all go on and nobody does anything about it. Nobody has done anything about it and now it is too late. The system is so mired in corruption that the only thing that would break the stranglehold that corporate america, the super rich, the military industrial complex, the prison industrial complex has on the country would be outright revolution and armed conflict between average citizens and the federal government/armed forces. But that will never happen because America is filled with people that just don't care about what happens. People accept what the media tells them, and if CNN, FoxNews or whoever says everything is "OK" then they believe it without actually forming their own opinion or putting too much thought to it. We have become a country of weak minded chickenshits. Sorry, wave the flag around all you want to, but the founding fathers wouldn't even recognize the country they founded if they saw it today.

~~ donning my fireproof jacket ~~ Natural selection only works if your defect prevents you from breeding and passing down your genes. We cure people of diseases that should kill them. We allow tards to breed. We have hearing aids that (in prehistoric times) would prevent one from being snuck up on my a saber tooth tiger. No hearing aids = a lot of old people being soylent green. We have lasik and glasses for preventing saber tooth tigers sneaking up on us. No eye correction = lots of blurry vision people running around getting eaten or falling from cliffs. If we have a compound fracture, we have orthopedic surgeons that fix that stuff for us instead of having the limb get gangrene. We have dentists which can repair teeth instead of letting them go septic and killing us. We have technology that ensures our food is always 99% bacteria free, thereby eliminating the need for a natural immunity to bacteria, thereby allowing a lot of weak stomached people to live when they would have died as children. This also applies to clean water. In third world countries, dirty water is a top killer of children. Although, through natural selection, the same children have a natural immunity to hundreds of other bacteria. It's likely that many many children died 50,000 years ago due to bacteria and viruses that children today are immune to. That's how natural selection works. In some parts of Africa, the people are immune to sickle cell anemia because of natural selection. Sickle cell anemia is a predominately black disease.. Natural selection doesn't occur in a technological world the same way is in the wild. We build all sorts of tools to keep the weaker alive so they can live long enough to pass down their genes. I think that the only solution to this inherent weakness that technology provides us with is through eugenics. Genetically engineering children with better minds, better immunities, better strength, etc, is all possible. By simply turning off the genes that give us cancer, heart disease, bad eyesight, bald heads, weak joints, etc we can have children that live better lives, free from sickness and unnecessary disease. my $0.02 worth ~ Flame away ~

warped, what the hell are you talking about? I don't recall any of the things you are talking about being discussed!? 2nd amendment being repealed? Huh? How are us "rabid, marxist, socialist, neo-nazi liberals stifling free speech? How are the dems preventing you from worshiping? Are you on drugs? Edit to add: when the revolution starts, call me. I would gladly serve my country and take it back from the politicians and the corporations.

Geico, Allstate, Travelers, Education Connection, eXtenze, esurance, viagra, visa, bank of america... And then there are the 500 different drugs pushed by big pharmaceutical companies that shut down your liver, kidneys, causes cancer, gives you diarrhea, causes abdominal pain, causes nausea, causes infections, gives you glaucoma, and makes you bleed out of your eyes/ears/anus, makes your fingernails fall off and your teeth fall out... But it does clear up that stuffy nose..... In fact, all commercials annoy me! Why do we pay 100 bucks a month to sit and watch 3 minutes of TV followed by 7 minutes of commercials followed by another three minutes of TV?? DVR is the only way...

My gawd... Could you imagine if the states adopted such a policy? In the United States, the percentage of overweight or obese children has doubled over the past 30 years to 25 per cent of the under-19 population. http://www.betterhealthusa.com/public/227.cfm In 2002, 72.9 million children younger than the age of eighteen lived in the United States. http://www.libraryindex.com/pages/1623/How-Many-Children-BIRTH-INDICATORS.html So if we multiply 72,900,000 times 25 percent we get 18,225,000 obese children. If you calculate the tax dollars spent to keep a child in the custody of the government, lets just say a thousand dollars a month each, then your spending $18,225,000,000 a month, or $218,700,000,000 (218 billion, 700 million) dollars per year. Thats twice what we will spend in FY2010 for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe Ireland can afford that, but we sure as hell can't. edit to add: I can't believe two of you people actually support such a ridiculous policy...

Woman in W.Va. torture case now says she lied
birdshit replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
There is a difference between pleading guilty and confessing. In most cases, you get a reduced sentence for admitting guilt. An example of this is a murder case. If you plead guilty then you get life. If you plead not guilty and lose, you get death. Same for robbery, the sentence is much less if you plead guilty. More than likely, their public defender told them the govt had a solid case. In my experience, the feds have a 90% conviction rate regardless of the quality of their evidence, and pleading not guilty is almost always suicidal. So, they took a deal that gave them reduced sentences and in return pleaded guilty. Although, a reduced sentence still might be ten, twenty years... But, that is better than 40 years. Since this was (supposedly) a violent crime, it is probable that they were facing long, long stretches. I know of what I speak, unfortunately... -
Bullshit! Your logic/argument = fail. Yes, if pot is still illegal then any use, sale, storage, cultivation is by definition contributing to the criminal element. If it were made 100% legal than by definition it wouldnt contribute to the "criminal element". In Amsterdam pot and mushrooms are both legal and their daily/regular use by all segments of the population is actually much lower than the states (4 pct I think). They view drug problems as a social issue and not a legal issue. So instead of spending tens of billions on a failed, unwinnable "war on drugs" that creates cartels and sends trillions of dollars to them, they spend the same money (per capita) on treatment centers for addictive drugs such as heroine, coke, crack, oxy, etc. Their model has been in place for decades and it just works. Why can't America adopt a model that works instead of trying to reinvent the wheel? Because the politicians are so scared of alienating their conservative, brain washed, 80 IQ masses.

like the $923,053,000,000.00 (923 Billion, 53 million) we have spent on Iraq and Afghanistan? I think that works out to $7,100 for every man, woman and child in America. For a family of 5, thats $35,502 in tax dollars, just to pay for "the war on terror". And what have we accomplished? Bin Laden is still trolling around... Oh yeah and another 110,000,000,000 requested for FY 2010. Great use of tax dollars there...

No, the six congressmen in question are in the pockets of defense contractors, so they are just watching out for their "constituents"
