  1. i thought that if you had 20 days to file an appeal, you could have it heard by the court. my girlfriend filed a dvp on her ex and lost the dogs. we got a lawyer, he said the law changed last year, that the petitioner gets the pets if it is upheld. it was, and the judge crossed out petitioner, and wrote in respondent on the pre-printed form, and the lawyer said she had a solid case for appeal. he filed it, but we found out that the judge denied it, said he wouldn't hear the case. this sounds wrong to me, especially since the law clearly states that she should have won. can anyone explain this to me? we're in wv, by the way. it was a family court magistrate the first time, circuit court the appeal was filed with. thanx. http://kitswv.com
  2. i still do that when i am remoted onto a user's system and take a screenshot sometimes. hilarious, i click the ok on the pic to get to work and it doesn't go anywhere. http://kitswv.com
  3. +1000 on that!!! the first thing that comes to mind when i think of the confederacy is how lucky the north got too many times...i had the fortune to grow up the son of a southern historian who took us on family vacations to battlefields all around the shenendoah valley, some of the fondest trips i can recall. it may have had roots with slavery, but it was more the result of government not heeding the rights granted to the states in the constitution. southereners were true patriots in every respect who heeded the words of jefferson(i think, have to check) when he said we have not a right, but a responsibility to act when our rights are at risk(or something along those lines, it's a bit early) am i a fan of racism? no! my thoughts are that every single legal citizen of this country should have the same rights as every other legal citizen. this makes me an outspoken proponent of gay marriage, zero gun restrictions for non-felons(5 day waiting period is ok, it is needed to ensure legality of purchase and allows a cooling off period for hotheads), and any other means of fighting discrimination... but of course, someone is always gonna bitch, because "it's all about me" in this day and age... http://kitswv.com
  4. Burning Man organizers are scrambling to quiet a loud and angry response to its recent ticket lottery, a drawing that resulted in less than a quarter of its most ardent community members getting selected. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13772_3-57372989-52/burning-man-tackling-community-fury-in-ticket-snafu/?tag=cnetRiver http://kitswv.com
  5. switch to gmail...i wouldn't wish that on anyone...just one more way to let google keep tabs on ya...just sayin' http://kitswv.com
  6. at least where i work there is a person on the other end. we use the feature occasionally and i have been known to handle 4 chats and a phone call at the same time, and remote onto the system all at once. can't do 5 chats, too confusing, 4 is pushing it. it's actually a great way to handle some of the simpler problems, but for the really hard issues, i like to talk to the eu(end user). http://kitswv.com
  7. anyone heard of this case? http://www.openforum.com/articles/why-is-a-fast-food-giant-going-after-a-one-man-business my thoughts on the matter say that he should use the notion that his spelling is correct and that the reason the chick fil a trademark is unique...thoughts anyone? http://kitswv.com
  8. so maybe its a touch too simple, but why can't we just let shit like this offset. say britain owes us a billion and we owe them a billion, call it even. would that help the national debt? http://kitswv.com
  9. i believe he said "sawed off" shotgun. i had one with a 12" barrel that had a spread of about 4 feet from 25 feet. while i have not fired a shotgun with an 18" barrel, i would have to respectfully disagree with the pattern being able to be covered by your hand from 15 yards or less as i have a mossberg with a 24" barrel that will spread slightly bigger than that from 25 feet. of course that would be dependant on the size of the choke, the size of the gauge, and the size of the shot. http://kitswv.com
  10. now while posting a link to a website debunking facts is cool and all, it is really no more than one other person's opinion as i saw no references to the information appearing there. i have read before that there has to be at least one curve every five miles, reason being that eisenhower (or whoever, it's been a while) thought that people would become distracted or fall asleep after miles of straight road, particularly out west. unfortunately, it was from a history channel documentary on the interstate system and i cannot provide documentation of this. it feels right, however and i choose to believe this rather than the link in your post. after all, just because a study shows something or someone posts it on a website, does not make it true, no matter how many people believe it. something i like to keep in mind when people ask for references to something being posted here, or when it is said that one source or another is not believable. case in point, numerous references to a hacker named "OxOmar" in this link from the bbc. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-16456100 his name is "0xOmar" a reference to hex code hackers are very familiar with. http://www.canada.com/news/Saudi+hacker+targets+Israel+with+Trojan+horse+virus/5957243/story.html http://kitswv.com
  11. there is actually a billboard i've seen for about 3 years now that has a picture of iran's leader(forgot the name) and said "they make a killing a day" or something like that and asking what we were going to do about it. sounds like a call to action to me and makes me violently ill every time i drive by it. if a leader of a sovereign nation wants to lead his country, it's none of our business what he does and we certainly can't go around deposing leaders just because we don't agree with their style of leadership, period. http://kitswv.com
  12. i got my boy the same gun, it rocks, he thought it was the best thing ever. he loved it as well, until he shot the .410! had i not been trying to help him hold it tight, he would have dropped it. apparently "santa" got him a box of 3"magnums(since the xmas present fiasco in another thread i told him it must have been his way of getting even), and since he's 8 and small for his age, it kicked a bit more than i had anticipated. he wanted to throw it in the river, but after an hour, he asked if we could go shoot the .22 some more... http://kitswv.com
  13. http messages, i don't know them all, but 403 is forbidden... http://kitswv.com
  14. columbus oh, to sanfrancisco, ca and back in 84 hours. it was usually a team operation, but for xmas i took it, and my partner took it for new years. rough trip, about 4 hours sleep in 4 days http://kitswv.com
  15. i saw it the other day and had a great laugh wondering how many people understood it.... "there's no place like 127.0.0.1" http://kitswv.com

    Eggs

not true...eggs are not nearly as bad for you as being made out to be, it was a throwback from the 60's-70's bullshit marketing when a lot of stuff was deemed bad based on bad science and rigged studies...except now that chickens are pumped fill of drugs, they're not as good as they are from free range chickens http://kitswv.com
  17. thanx again all for some wonderful ideas. i actually did entertain the military school idea(not for this, just for a combination of some actions from earlier), but threw it out. we have decided to give him all of them, except the ones he opened(to be held for his birthday in march), grass drills for an hour(yes, he does them, i can get him to muscle failure in 20 minutes), and the only thing santa is leaving under the tree is a big lump of coal(the ones santa leaves will be given to him after about an hour). i think he learned from this, and all of the friends i've talked to(myself included)admitted to peeking. of course we didn't take them out and play with them, but i can't hold too much against him for a (relatively) minor offense. and it helps after having a day to think about it, i was steamed when i talked to him about it. i really appreciate all of the responses, it does take a village to raise a child, i just want to ensure i'm not raising the next ted bundy... http://kitswv.com
  18. you've hit the nail on the head, i seem to have had a lack of emapthy(?) until i hit about 19 or so, not quite to the point of being sociopathic, but not too far from it. i'm worried that he'll get worse if it's not corrected. but overreacting is no good either. it sucks being a parent sometimes, it's too easy to screw up, and he's really improving in so many other areas, i don't want to lose the progress we've made. http://kitswv.com
  19. the grass drills take the place of spanking, he hates them. and i don't blame him, it's parenting. we're just at a loss as to what to do to try to instill respect into him, he's smart so it's hard to get him to understand. i also don't want to scar him, but i don't want to let him run wild either. it's not the presents so much as my ex was terribly upset...he felt bad enough after we had a serious talk with him, i think he'll get xmas, just really ticked off that i haven't been able to get through...thanx for all the good advice... http://kitswv.com
  20. it's not having the latest and greates, that would be win 8 beta...it;s the fact that xp is ancient and not supported by ms anymore. i work as a help desk tech and wish that everyone in ameriprise would get rid of xp. the main difference is that in 7, it's not a dos based kernel anymore, dos is merely an application. with the power of computing doubling about every 18 months, it doesn't take a genius to see the problems in using an os over a decade old. http://kitswv.com
  21. pissed me off pretty bad and his mom was crying, said it broke her heart. i understand he's only 8 and wasn't thinking of that, but i'm at a loss as to what to do, we thought of holding his presents from us for birthday presents in march, santa not coming and leaving anything but a lump of coal, can't quite come up with anything but grass drills, that we know for sure. it wasn't so much the presents, but the breaking of trust and the thing that was going through his head was, "i can get away with it". nothing about the right or wrong in it. any ideas? http://kitswv.com
  22. put a nice big whit blanket under it, makes cleanup a snap, just roll it up and shake it out outside http://kitswv.com
  23. that's all well and good getting laws struck down after years in the court system, but it does not a bit of good to those persecuted under them in the meantime, hard to give someone back years of their life spent living in those conditions. just a thought... http://kitswv.com
  24. i will have to disagree with the 'no punishment deserved' attitude here. put it this way: a kid is playing with a gun and doesn't know it's loaded when he blows his friend's brains all over the ceiling. punishment deserved? he's feeling terrible as hell, would that be enough? this situation had a positive ending, but the op admitted he wouldn't have been prepared had not restaurant regulations been in place. i would not suggest anything too harsh, i don't use corporal punishment myself anymore, but i feel a somewhat hard tack needs to be taken to prevent future mistakes with terrible consequences in the future. this being said, what i would do would be to have a face to face with a very mean face and in a calm, and extremely firm voice line out what if's. very important with the facial expressions and don't yell. go through what could have happened worst case, getting into some grisly details to leave etched into the brain. then, be sure to lose the mean face, give super hugs, profess undying love for her, then go out for ice cream or something. http://kitswv.com
  25. i just read it, it was fucking hilarious. of course i've heard it before, but hey, i've been watching funny shit for a couple of hours now. http://kitswv.com
