Not as hard as you think. Technically the BATF considers the "reciever" to be the firearm and only it is traced. I mean you can go out and buy any assortment of gun parts without having to register anything, but the reciever is the controlled item. That being said; I could show you multiple websites where you can purchase what are called AK-47 spare parts kits that include every piece of an AK-47 except the reciever. On that same exact webite you can also purchase a 20% complete reciever for the same gun which is enirely legal because at 20% completion the BATF still doesnt consider it to exist as a reciever yet. Now on that same website are instructions on how to finish building this reciever and parts kit into a working firearm and all you need are a few metal working tools and a little metal working know how. In doing this you havent technically broken the law yet as you can legally (in some states) make you OWN firearm as long as you dont sell it. Now let me ask you are these traceable? Do you think that getting rid of the manufactuor would elliminate all af these millions (yes millions) of parts kits and raw metal that exist already? I think not if anything a home made AK is cheaper than a store bought one. My point is getting rid of the manufactuor at this point is as useless as tits on a bull. Muff #5048

So by that line of reasoning if I install a car sterio fo my friend and he gives me 100 bucks for doing it then I, by law, am required to claim that as taxable income? Ive seen MANY a jumper who have their one favored packer and will go to them every time and give them cash at the end of the day for services rendered. Unless I didnt have an actual job (with w-2's and the like) then hell no I wouldnt claim it. Muff #5048

Or you could just buy a Glock and take the whole safety catch out of the equasion. Muff #5048

Fixed it for ya. Your attention to detail never ceaces to amaze me. I guess thats why they let you fly the planes and let me shoot the x-rays. Muff #5048

Well thats kind of a pain in the ass. Ive packed brand-spankin'-new canopies before and jumped them it just take me like twice as long to do it. Oh well. Still Im not paying more than about 7ish bucks for a pack job. Its not THAT damn hard. On another note, I dont see what PACKERS are bitching about with the 120 day thing. Its not like they are master riggers or anything (well some are). I think if you can pack 3 rigs per hour at 7 bucks a rig then thats 21 bucks an hour non taxable. That isnt bad money. Muff #5048

I might just bite the bullet and pay the packers for the first 50 jumps or so. Muff #5048

Way to load a question. Of course not. A convicted felon cannot purchase a firearm LEGALLY! So what do they do? Thats right, they buy it off the street or steel it. So how do we stop that? Passing more BS laws wont help. What they did is already against the law but that didnt stop them. After all, they already are convicted felons. Agreed. All a felon need do is have a legal buyer buy them the gun. Then said legal buyer marks up the price, files the serial # off every part of the gun, buy an aftermarket barrel for it, and voila criminal gets gun that is completely untraceable to the original source. On the flip side of that coin lets say you make all guns illegal. All one criminal has to do is find a source thats importing them illegaly (much like drugs are done) and stock up there. In this scenario though, only the criminals have the guns and law abiding citizens do not. Muff #5048

So I just ordered my new canopy from PD yesterday!!! Its a Sabre2 190 which, at this elevation (4200' msl), should be plenty zippy for me and still provide me with good flare and landings. Ill be loading this thing at about 1.1. The color scheme is the exact same as in the attached photo minus the PD logo and the fact that mines a Sabre2 and not a Spinletto. Im so stoked about this thing too bad you have to wait 10-12 weeks to get it. But it will be like Christmas when it gets here!!! Muff #5048

I havent been to a movie since National Treasure2 came out. I detest paying 8 bucks to watch something once when in 6 mo I can rent the same movie for 2 dollars. Do I have a bitching home theater setup? Not really. But what I have is great for me plus I can sit at home and drink beer while watching my movie and pause it when I have to take a piss. -
Thats very true, but do you know exactly what your AGL is while your in the plane? I dare say unless your somewhere really flat then theres no way of knowing. We fly over mountains on our way up to altitude. Point being I know the speed of that reserve deployment is far faster than the main so if its 2000' or lower reserve it is (for me anyway).

Your right. I see that now. But still.......Waffle House? Muff #5048

Both 23?!?!? That dude looks like he's 50 or better. And that chick he married looks like she's 250 or better lbs that is. Also, I believe that some people were put on this earth for nothing more than my entertainment. Muff #5048
-
Agreed. That being said I will go straight to silver if we get out anywhere below 2k. I think reserves are designed to open in like 500' or something like that. Muff #5048

What alititude do you require your students to lock-on and pull at?
millertime24 replied to flyinhi79's topic in Instructors
http://www.uspa.org/publications/SIM/2008SIM/section2.htm#21g I personally pull at about 3k to 2800 pretty consistantly. Also, these are Basic Safety "Requirements" meaning should be followed. Not General Recommendations which sometimes you have a choice weather to follow or not. But I'm no instructor so take what I say with a grain of salt. Muff #5048 -

Fat people are offended by Pixar's WALL-E

[rant] This kind of grates on my nerves a little bit. A majority of fat people are fat because they made themselves that way. I cant tell you how many times Ive had to shoot knee x-rays on people who are over 300lbs. Or have to be squished of a flight because some fatass cant put down the damn twinkies for 5 fucking seconds. Im also one of those people who belive fat people should have to pay for 2 seats on the airplane as that is what they are taking up. If you want to be fat fine. Dont complain to me though about people making fun of you because you weigh so damn much. If you choose to make yourself into a disgusting fatbody then Im going to laugh at you or maybe even ask you wheres a good place to eat with absolutely no sypathy or remorse. Fuck I cant stand fat people complaining about being fat. [/rant] Muff #5048 -
So I just got done getting my car inspected and registration renewed. All I can say is DAMN am I happy Im in the military. It would have cost me $42 for the inspection and $118 for the renewal. I paid $32 for the inspection and $32 for the renewal! Instead of this state fucking me out of $160 bucks they only got me for $64. Now I have money to go jump with YAYYY!!!!! Muff #5048
