Yeh, especially the assholes who are barrel-rolling when it's time to track. I call BS. When I barrel roll during my track I actually gain altitude, just like a plane!!! Kind of funny you bring that up. A couple of guys that were at the tunnel last week had people watching them go up and down in the tunnel. I shit you not, one of them asked "why can't you just do that in the sky and stay up as long as you want". The skydiver said "you can! the record is like 2 hours at altitude, but you get really tired after a while." Muff #5048

A rigger showed me that method on those risers (not the same risers that came with the rig). After several hundred jumps doing it this way I still haven't had any issues, and its way easier (elastic on the back is much tighter). And for looking more during tracking; Yes I probably should be turning my head a bit more, but remember you can only see what the camera sees not what my eyeballs see. So yes. I will make an effort to do a better job looking around in the future. Muff #5048

No, there is no way the other canopy could have struck me. He was too far above and behind on final, but I guess it's about setting good examples for everyone. S&TA says he wants us flying bigger patterns, then Ill (aside from solo H&P's) fly a bigger pattern. Muff #5048

Ill man up and admit a mistake I made for the educational benefit of others. Basically I flew a tight pattern with a high speed approach and cut off a guy flying a much larger pattern doing toggle 90's. While I was well below the other guy on final and I saw him the whole time and flew accordingly (in my mind) there was still a risk of collision that my S&TA decided was significant enough to remind me of. In the attached pic, the black area is the LZ. The red line is my pattern, and the green line is the other guys pattern. After "the talk" I adjusted my pattern/behavior to enhance safer landings. Maybe there's something to be learned here, or maybe I'm just an idiot for doing what I did. Anywho, this is just a heads up on how you may endanger your fellow jumpers. Muff #5048

I jump in Ogden too. If you were there yesterday you probably saw me. I usually fly wingsuits, but if there isn't anyone else to wingsuit with I do other stuff. Ill jump with you as soon as you're off student status. Welcome to the sport. Muff #5048

As promised, here's my Cobalt openings after getting the H-Mod done (thanks Masterrigger1). Some people say its a bit TOO slow, but having these after the slammers is a welcome change. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UudQzGQWVOw Muff #5048

Heres one of mine. 14 people on the load. 12 people jumping togeather. I was doing a rodeo to get a shot with my friends gopro. Most of the canopy flight is uneventful, but notice how everyone on the ground was safe as I'm coming in on final. BTW, a Pilot is quite a snappy bitch at a 1.7 wl (see how fast a slight toggle turn adjusts heading). All in all it has a fantastic glide to get back from where we were. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10vPZCLKHcA Muff #5048

When I saw that pic I damn near pee'd my pants laughing. Muff #5048

Will the millertime go headdown? Will he catch up for the sit? Will his DZO ever let go of him during breakoff? Will he be able to land the smallest parachute he's ever flown (a Pilot 111)? Lets see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWweABBzZao Muff #5048

Why is this news? I can go down to my local Walmart and buy a gun, some ammo, a case of beer and some cigars in one shopping trip. And thats in Utah of all places. Muff #5048

Nice work. And thanks for letting me demo your Shadow. I think I know what my next wingsuit needs to be. Muff #5048

I disagree with this one, and I have personal experience as to why. When I was looking to downsize from my 210 to a 190 I demoed a 190 and loved it. I then purchased one from PD through my DZO. In the 14 weeks it took PD to make my canopy and get it to me, I was already down to jumping a 170. I put 8 jumps on my BRAND NEW 190 then sold it. to the OP: Basically, I'm saying dont buy NEW at this stage in your jumping carreer. You MAY end up downsizing faster than you think (or maybe slower which is good too). If you're looking to buy gear make sure its gear you will have in a week or two, and yes, follow Dave's advice on buying what you are willing to jump right now. Muff #5048

I shit you not, this dude would not fit in the seat with the arm rest down. He needed 2 of those seatbelt extentions just to buckle up. Meh... I just had a few drinks and fell asleep (Hell, I MAY have leaned my head up against him like a big fat pillow). I woke up when I started feeling the plane descend, and just "dealt" with it for the 20 min it took to land. I'm sure my snoring pissed him off as much as his fat rolls pissed me off. Muff #5048

Ill jump on the "I can't stand fat people who fly" badwaggon. On my way back from z-hills I had to sit beside some 400lb tub of lard. I'm 6' and weight 158lbs. I can sit in one of those seats with room to spare. If you are so fucking unhealthy fat that you need to raise the arm rest so you can spill your excessive tons of fun into my space YOU SHOULD BE CHARGED AND MADE TO BOOK 2 FUCKING SEATS SIDE BY SIDE!!! I don't "hate" fat people. What I DO hate is when someone elses shitty diet choices directly affect my comfort on an airplane. Muff #5048

Ive had the dream where I was late to work and the whole dream consisted of me getting ready as fast as I could. Then I wake up at about 3 in the morning and can't get back to sleep because I'm afraid Ill be late to work. That shit is infuriating. Muff #5048

I use Kingford Match-Light (it gets ready really quickly and you dont have to fuss around with lighter fluid). Only thing is, you have to wait until the starter fuel burns off otherwise your food may taste kind of funny. Muff #5048

Post 1st Jump sickness? (Hours after)

Maybe I can help you here. Your adrenaline was forced into a hyper-active state. For me, when this happens I'm in a total state of Zen. Everything that happens is it's own moment and the usual after effects are that of exhaustion and euphoria... It happens when you do anything that you are HIGHLY concerned about and then live through. It happened to me on my first jump. It happened to me on my first wingsuit jump. It happens to me everytime I downsize a canopy. What you are feeling is nowmal! You jumped out of a plane in flight and lived. Some people never want these moments, while others chase them (I'm the latter). As far as breathing during freefall, just do it like normal. The act of taking air into your lungs is no different at 13,000" than it is at ground level. Muff #5048 -
Smaller canopies and higher toggle pressure..
millertime24 replied to NNault's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Is it the same type canopy? What size did you go from and what are you on now? Ive been jumping HP (according to the USPA) canopies for a good while now, and I fing the toggle pressure doesn't really increase. The responsivness for any given ammount of input though, drastically goes up the smaller you go. An example would be like today. I normally fly a Cobalt 135. Today I went down to a Nitron 120 and it took WAY less input to get the canopy to do what I wanted. The front riser pressure was much higher, but toggle pressure seemed to be about the same. Muff #5048 -
Masterrigger1 does them. I'm sending my canopy to him in the morning. The way I see it, Ill do the cheaper things first before buying a new canopy. If the H-Mod fixes the problem then Ill likely jump it for the next 300-500 jumps. Anywho, Ill keep everyone updated on weather the mod works or not. Muff #5048
-
How do I get that done? More importantly, who does it and how much does it cost? Muff #5048
-
Here's what I'll do; When flying my wingsuit I will, as I always have remain vigilant of other canopies and their location before I open. Once open I will continue to evaluate weather my wl'ing will put me on base/final with the students/tandems. If I can SAFELY overtake their altitude on my 135 I will do so and land long before them... If not Ill land elsewhere and get some exercise walking back to the hanger. What I will also do is (and this may sound bad but it isn't meant to) question the HP guys performing large turns in the landing area. Basically why they did it, and how they determined it was a safe approach to make, maybe learning a thing or two in the process. Thats what this junior jumper is going to do.

I also went over the frame by frame... on the un-edited video off my camera. In one frame you see the left risers and after the next 2 you see the slider (not collapsed) at the risers with a almost full open canopy. Things I KNOW AS FACT: -The rig (when I put it on) was packed with NO slider showing. - This has happened before with a packer unfamiliar with this canopy. - After this happened and I used a dedicated packer for the rest of my weekend it didnt happen again.
