What type of handgun do you have for "home defense"
Krip replied to Tuna-Salad's topic in Speakers Corner
I agree with nam IMO There are different threat levels depending on living conditions. High density apt living in ghetto at one extreme to low density country living at the other. Threat level will also be depend if there's a natural disaster, Vs a common theif. I'm guessing Security requirements will vary depending on the threat level. Why rely on a hand gun at close range when a long gun can eliminate the threat before they ever get to the house with a hand gun. -
FYI for those without insurance or even those with insurance

Or move to Canada or Europe. Speaker's Corner in 3 -2 - 1 . . . Hi John You must have missed the diclaimer " This is a public service announcement" so its all good FWIW the falling off the ladder, roof, tree excuse only works if the injured is delivered to the ER by family or friends. If medics are doing the pick up at the DZ your busted. One Jump Wonder -

Hi C Since you cross posted the party in 3 different forums I think you'll notice the type of response you get will depend on ea specific forum. Speakers forum is a crowd. Most DZ.com people even bother stopping by. One Jump Wonder

Or you could just use a lead sinker, a.k.a. "ripcord stop." HW Hi Howard, 'Remember the lead "Sinker" ripcord stop. Took quite a few off of Security Systems (the old "Kelvinator" rigs)!! Funny about those things, in one of the final scenes in "The Gypsy Moths" when the kid lands and is stumbling around in a daze holding the ripcord, Hackman comes up to him and grabs the end of the ripcord and looking at it he says,"When you pull it you sure pull it huh kid!" Now that's a pull!! Also, "That's Hollywood!!" Didn't some folks replace their lead stops with knoted rubber bands based on the theory that the rubber band could be compressed and would pull thru the ripcoard housing or something. Anyone know about the rubber band "upgrade".? Did they work if caught on the reserve? I'm guessing not since we didn't see many. But ks was always outside the mainstream. One Jump Wonder

Hi Jerry, JR, et al. I need to try and make myself clear By suggesting mediation I wasn't implying that the DZ had done anything wrong. I was only trying to suggest a way to stop the flow of red ink from the DZ. The lawyers like a good fight because they always get paid. I doubt Mcnasty's lawyer would be interested in this case on a contingency basis I hope the DZ wins and has enough money let over to stay in business, without having to raise their jump rates to a unrealistic level. Hi Larry, Yer' right!! "We loved to jump and that's what we had!!" Daze gone by it was a hardy sport!! One thing else for sure, what with all the whistles, bells, ground proximity warning and over ride devices, lanyards, Jesus cords and what all, the number of jumpers who think they're "bounceproof" has risen considerably. Trouble is they can still bounce...just as high! The difference is the bounce is under a good canopy Old joke: Who says skydivers are stupid we invented a whole to way to kill ourselves One Jump Wonder

Hi JR I don't remember how long this "misunderstanding" has been going on at your DZ but lieing to the BBB is kid stuff. The lawyers OTOH are real $$$$. This crap can drag on for as long as people are willing to pay their lawyers. The end result will be even the winner will end up being a loser. The only real winners are the lawyers, To bad level heads can't prevail and settle this crap thru mediation. I just hope things don't get physical and or felony criminal.. I'm sure your aware that Mcnasty and their Lawyer may be monitoring this thread. I wish someone would pay me $200/hr to read this crap. No wonder divorce lawyers get rich. One Jump Wonder

I would have to think twice about choosing between the life of my dogs vs a stanger. Of course some folks would be worth it. Pls don't PM my dogs OTOH I know what to expect of my neighbors, and some other people I know. I'd save my dogs without thinking twice.
