  1. In DC, he'd be arrested for that. True. The nutter did a very bad thing. I suspect at 88yo, he figured he had nothing to lose and just wanted to grab 15 minutes of fame. In response to the discussion of the guards equipment: Would a security guard in DC be arrested for supplying his own vest? We had a friend who's son was a guard who's employer wouldn't supply the kid a vest.. We all chipped in and bought the kid a vest R.I.P.
  2. When your teeth turn green thats a real fart. The rest are just vapors. One Jump Wonder
  3. But their interests are not the same. And that's why your cute response is not much more insightful than a dog barking at a passing car. Hi A Sorry but this isn't your normal hangout "Speakers corner". You've got your opinion I've got mine. My opinion was just cuter than yours and was meant to do no harm. OTOH Your posts among others can result in some significant changes in the sport, not in safety but in a significant increase in the cost of a lift ticket as DZO's have to factor in the cost of defending themselves from frioulous law suits supported by other skydivers. Some of the posts in this thread includeing yours go directly against the principal of skydivers don't sue. From what I'm reading its obvious that you Andy among others think that skydiver that are injured due to their own stupidity should sue in spite of the waiver, and you among others are willing to help their bottom feeding lawyers, and condon other jumpers that do. Andy you are what you are and I don't think your cute. If this thread is any indication. We've turned a corner in the sport that I thought I'd never see. To bad One Jump Wonder

    Dork Zone

Because he feels threatened by the open forum of dropzone.com and is powerless to stop it. It's a immature attempt at marginalizing the threat. FWIW some people used to refer to another skydiving chatroom "rec skydiving" as Wreck skydivng Some folks even as adults never grow up and regress to the same behavior they used as children. ie Name calling pay One Jump Wonder
  5. Hi R Great Link Want to hear just one good reason The link is some kind of a LEO site there are 40 pages of all opinions for reasons why: someone should have, could have, would have, might have, will have, and was justified in doing what they did. Stop resisting One Jump Wonder
  6. It's a $5 HnP. If it's literally going to cost a buck or two, yeah, it matters. Once again, is safety worth a "buck or two"? Why not just dive out, as instructed? Well, you should. But people are fallible; they're creatures of habit, and sometimes they just plain forget. We're not talking about a major brain fart, like forgetting to cut away before pulling silver. It's anticipatable - by the DZO, who employs and sets the procedures for the pilot, as well as the pilot himself - that a small percentage of jumpers will forget to not exit poised on a low-tail aircraft. That being the case, although it's negligent for the jumper to jump up, it's ALSO negligent for the DZO and pilot to have tail-low configurations on jump run. The term "personal responsibility" is grossly over-used, even by sharp people, to connote unilateral responsibility. And that's where this thread tends to break down. But in most interactions between and among people in society, many responsibilities are shared, and not unilateral. This issue is a good example of it. Interesting opinion
  7. Yeah....you OLD GUYS take longer to heal! Hi T Yep John is getting OLDER/wiser. He's also probably very close to Retirement Plus he's got a very nice wife and great kids that have started to leave the nest. So yes johns risk/reward/wisdom matrix may be different than others
  8. I think this may be still true today for all demoninations of cash The banks use counting machine's so there's cross contamination We recently got a couple of bricks of new $2 bills and the ass wipe teller insisted on running the NEW, CLEAN, $2's thru the counting machine. "Sorry sir its bank policy to insure that your not short changed" The previous teller didn't count the bills and only touched the bundles on the wrappers. Gotta find a new source for clean, virgin, DNA free money. To get back on topic New uncirculated money is a status symbol to some folks. One Jump Wonder
  9. Danger ranger Either this a sorry excuse for a troll (see profile). Or heads to every DZ in a 2 hr radius from manhatten. Cross keys, ranch heads up for this lawsuit magnet. One Jump Wonder
  10. It's all just marketing BS for thosae that like to put on for others. Gold card, platinum card, clear card, black card. It's the constant chase for superficial cool. The target keeps shifting, by design, so that (in the approximate words of The Onion), you have to get the next really cool piece of fucking shit so everybody doesn't think you are a fucking toothless hillbilly living in a fucking cardboard shack. Damn I thought my weekly payday loan was a status symbol. Now i got to get some sissy colored credit card to show how some very shallow people how I want to be. BTW cash is very dirty. Just ask some one who works in a bank how many times they wash their hands every hr. One Jump Wonder
  11. I echo these sentiments. He's been around in the sport a long time, written some great articles on rigging and demos, and he's someone whose name I've grown to respect greatly over the years, even though I've never met him personally. And now these bizarre posts full of accusations are destroying that image I've had of him. He's throwing away his good reputation in a childish temper tantrum. And I'm concerned for him too. Hi JR I've written the MODS to try and stop this nonsence but they've either their "working on it" or decided to let it continue. If anyone else thinks the mods should shut slyde down for a while maybe they should contact their local mods with their concerns. OTOH we could do conduct a poll One Jump Wonder
  12. Hi Jerry My thoughts about what to do with your stuff You know the deal every persons situation is unique, Now that your ahead of the game and got some time to think about it I'm sure you'll make the right situation for you. Last summer we went to a friends funeral, his log books were on display in the chapel and the look on his kids faces was priceless. (The log books were in premo concdition) I'm sure my friends kids and grandkids will be getting dads log books out once in a while to spend some quality time with their dad. Maybe you should be thinking about about mounting you wings etc in a frame for presentation to your kids after your gone. That way maybe your stuff won't end up in the bottom of a box in a dresser. I'm thinking of a mountingin a frame like soldiers do with their medals. R.I.P. R.I.P. One Jump Wonder
  13. Hi Jerry What you going to do with them when you go to the other side It would be a shame for them to end up on Ebay or 6' under after your gone. FWIW I'm not interested in your stuff. Their priceless to you, you earned them and the memories that go with them.
  14. I've seen gun safes cut open with torches and/or cut with power tools more than a few times. As to the age of the suspects, well, that ranged from 15 to 50. This was more than a single burglary. More then a couple, actually. These are reports that I have personally taken, in a single city, not some state wide or even county wide statistic. Luckily, at least in Texas, theft of a firearm is a felony and is a separate charge from the burglary of a habitation (also a felony). Any one can do a search on Youtube and watch how to break into a gun safe, break into one of those night stand gun box's, pick a lock etc Some of the dudes doing the show and tell are teens I Should have done some more research before I bought my cheap ass 800 lb safe. A good safe would make the bad guys or teens work their butts off for at least a hr. One Jump Wonder
  15. Hi JR Very strange, don't know what's driving that train. We live in Wa state. The state has a open carry law, (can carry gun in open without a permit) not sure if there's a 500' minimum distance from schools. Wa State has imo very liberal gun permit rules. If you want a permit and haven't been convicted you get a permit in a couple of weeks. No safety class's required. With permit in hand waiting period to buy a gun is zero. One Jump Wonder
  16. Was there a "distance rule"? As in how far away to poop? Did it depend on wind speed/direction? Hi Don't understand your fixation with "shitting in the weeds" sounds like you been taking the kids to potty. So listen up here's the way it was back in the day.

  19. Nah... it's a rant about the state of skydiving than anything else. Slyde has some issue's with USPA Check out his profile and his latest posts for the rest of the story. It is what it is One Jump Wonder
  20. Have you looked at any web sites that sell guns lately? Pretty much all of them have messages to the effect of "the scary black man is going to take away your guns." How about the NRA? The quote about "the scary black man going to take away your guns" Reminds me of the book "The Turner Diaries". The book was on of the things that imo set off Timathey McVeigh at oklahoma city Federal building. In the turner diaries there's a chapter about the Gov't using blacks from the inner city to confisicate guns from liscensed gun owners that refused to turn in their guns when order by the gov't. BTW after the thugs took away the guns they raped the defenseless women. IMO Really far out stuff but a small portion of our society believes this crap. Tim Mcveigh acted on the propaganda. Too bad. BTW the book "Turner diaries" was available at our local library. A person should be able to blow thru it in a few hours. It reads like a comic book but some folks From what I'm reading here this story line in one form or another is making it's round on the net. One Jump Wonder
  21. Hi G Didn't BoA take over Countrywide before the the last election? I don't think BoA is going to miss your business. A lot of C.U.'s (military included) take better care of their customers than BoA. I've been happy with the service I've recieved from the Pentagon Credit union. Try iy you might like it One Jump Wonder
