  1. Like you,i'd been making my turns based purely on sight picture without incident. But as my technique changes[initating turns higher and keeping the canopy diving longer]now pulling 270's,and following a chat with a mentor,i'm now an alti convert and i'm saving for a SUUNTO.. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  2. Personally i've no preference to what works best getting from a deep spots.I've used rears and brakes both techniques got me back to my pla safely without incident. I'd add though,i do use the accuracy trick and my ears[guess when everything goes hush hush]i assume i'm flying at the same speed as the wind assuming i'm flying with the wind[otherwise my hush hush trick is pointless which it may be anyway]. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  3. I'd think the trick would be not to get caught! But why would anyone want to make an illegal skydive?Just for the badness of it,sort of like making an illegal base jump!or how some films[movies]have portrayed, the badness of getting away with something else. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  4. A news update!!!!!Two 19yr old men were arrested in Scunthorpe and taken to seperate police stations for questioning......Source channel 4 news.. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  5. Take alook at www.skydivemag.com/ ,but more specificly run a search on canopy control and you'll find plenty of safety related articles on the subject...... .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  6. Congratulations Jumbo & welcome to this awesome sport.Learn to love thy canopy .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  7. Just my 2pence! But to me it's all about awareness.Flying in brakes, observing the other canopies in the air and making adjustments in your flight plan to allow you to "Land Alone". If you jump a DZ with a large PLA,you could practice your approaches away from the main landing area[Not that magnetic spot nearest the packing shed]. Always practice new techniques up high, using your altimeter to gauge how much altitude is lost per technique, slowly, over time bringing things closer to the ground and building a sight picture. Remember it's not a race to the ground so take your time and be safe. P.S.Master the slow flight techniques first .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  8. I don't know if this will help as i'm only pulling 45's at most myself and not too often at that, just when the mode takes me! But the technique i've been using is druing the "swoop"flying the canopy on the edge of brakes"where toggle input starts to bite" and leaning into my harness in the direction i want to carve..i'm not saying basically harness turning the canopy is a better technique but i keep most of my initial speed through the carve and have "touch wood"not failed to land this moneuveur Looking forward to this thread as i'm always scouting for ways to improve my techniques .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
  9. Not personally! However, whilst at Vichy[espace boogie France] this year a friend of mine took the oppertunity to do just that. From what i observed and from what he told me,is you sit side saddle on the passenger seat of the microlight, the pilot takes it to altitude, kills the engine and you jump Hope that's of some use! .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

    Holy war

I don't usually do political! But i live in well lets say a very cosmopolitan area[UK] If someone, regardless of beliefs steps out of line,it's dealt with.Religion or skin tone dosn't even enter the equation... When the Twin Towers were attacked someone[Al Queda] had clearly stepped out of line[reap what you sow] Iraq[i didn't buy weapons of mass destruction BS] but do believe if the mass graves were anything to go by that the coillition forces did the right thing and the regime reaped.
