This was an age when the sport was still very new and aeroplanes had not yet flown in Europe. The risks were far from negligible and Shepard was seriously injured while rescuing a fellow parachutist. She eventually gave up after hearing a voice warning her not to parachute (the opposite one I hear). Definitely an interesting discussion for me, I've been curious about ground effect flight for a while. Geeky I know... Try a google search for Ekranoplane, Caspian Sea Monster, WIG flight, etc etc.... That rig (the union jack flag rig) was made for the British 100 way record in '99. It was flown in the formation by the chairman of the BPA Chris Allen. Nice eh? I've also seen some nice promo shots of it by Sven Zimmerman, and Knut Krecker, who were working with the rig manufacturer Chris Thomas of Thomas sports Equipment. They used to do them for the original dytters, they also had a wee gismo that would interrupt your walkman at one point. I'm pretty sure Timeout have an LED port on their latest model. Och stop it you kids, the numbers mean fuck all. neither post numbers, nor jump numbers. At 800+ jumps, I started getting coaching and advice from people with less than half my numbers. Bill Booth, Kate Cooper, etc are newbies here in terms of numbers, go figure?. Judge a person by their actions and words, not on posting propensity, and never assume you know it all because you have 10+, 100+, 1000+ jumps.
