I saw a guy wearing this shirt at the Holiday Boogie, and I promptly went out and bought one for me AND my geek father. Front: "Schroedinger's cat is dead." Back: "Schroedinger's cat is not dead." I suppose I could explain, but that would take the fun out of me understanding what it means and most other people NOT understanding what it means... Actually, I think this rumor came about this time because of the sale of some land across the road to KB homes....I heard it before the rains came. There's no truth to them...found that out this weekend. Elsinore is not closing, at least not anytime soon and not because of development!

I would spend some time hunting around on www.omniskore.com as well. Also, the Airspeed articles that are linked at the top of the RW forum are an excellent resource, as well. As for the relative difficulty of blocks and randoms, the rules, the culture, and all that jazz...errr, you'll have to talk to people and just start doing it. I've been competing for 3 years and I still am ignorant on a lot of it. But time in sport has nothing to do with it. I bet if you talked to someone like DanBC or Craig Girard, they'd tell you the same thing! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

Card carrying member of the Sierra Club, here. As far as SUVs go...the problem is that people are stupid. They think they are "safer" in those road tanks because they've bought into car company hype. Unfortunately, there's no good way to regulate stupidity. Living in LA is nice because we have a curbside recycling program that takes a LOT of stuff. So much so that our recycling bin is more full than our trash bin in an average week. now THAT, to me, is cool. Don't get me started on global issues and our current administration, though. heh...about a month ago I saw one of BT's "laptop symphonies". Basically a DJ set, but he doesn't use vinyl, he mixes real time on his laptop...pretty cool. He did a live remix of Lenny Kravitz's "Are You Gonna Go My Way" that practically brought the rafters down in the club. Yes, that was me. I was from out of town (at that time; I now live in SoCal), and I wasn't going to be able to take them with me on the plane, anyway. I'd rather you have them than them just getting thrown away.

OMG....Eric Denney. You don't know me, and I don't know you, except through the nurses and doctors at Riverside County Med Center. I broke my femur at Perris in August of 2003, and all the staff there kept talking about this Eric person and how bad he was hurt, and how hard he was fighting. Since I was another skydiver, they brought me news of you during my 4-day stay. I felt a small connection with you through them, even though my injury was so much less severe than yours. Not boring, but nice. Spent it helping a good friend move into his new place, watched fireworks on the beach, split a bottle of wine. Quiet, but that's OK. Considering the fact that you need 6 hours of freefall time, you'd better get jumping! I suppose anything is possible, but experience and time in the sport does affect the quality of instructor you'll be, IMHO. I didn't get my rating until this year, my 10th in the sport. But I've seen a lot in those ten years and that enriches my ability as an instructor, I think. Good luck. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
