  1. NZ and Oz use it similarly, i think. I used to hate that word, then realized there are many more things in the world that are more worth the energy...lol Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  2. Why do you feel the need to insult females with that nasty wording. You hate females or something? Disgusting the word you use here makes the "N" word seem like a nursery rhyme term....... (and NO, I dont like either word I am just comparing) marc, that word doesn't have the same horrible connotation in other countries as it does here. spend a week in britain and you'll hear it a lot. Heck, it doesn't even specifically target women, IIRC. it's like saying "assholes"...i highly doubt rhys was targeting females with that usage. 3. no she doesn't. Seriously, if you watch just one episode of the show, any sane, normal person will come away from that half hour wanting to commit murder...by strangling her. She is HORRIBLE, no two ways about it. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  4. ok, so i'm replying to myself, but this is worth it. http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=1148592712&play=1 guys, keep me away from your kids...apparently, playing poker online will TURN ME INTO A CHILD ABUSER!!!! LOOK OUT! it's a money grab disguised as morals. the worst possible kind. *sigh* Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  5. oh trust me, I'm totally with you on this one. I agree that there's a lot more online players trying out the casinos, but for sheer access, nothing beats the net. Given the choice, Joe Fish from Nowhereville, AR will be much more inclined to deposit his $50 of drinking money online and play rather than spend hundreds of dollars taking a trip to Vegas or even his local riverboat. Taking away that ease of depositing means joe Fish probably won't play at all... The trouble for people who actually play online and make money at it is that cutting off all means for the casual (read: BAD) players to deposit money will seriously limit the incomes of these folks. as for the political side of this issue, I find it very funny that the drivers behind the "ban all internet gambling and poker" are the conservatives, whereas the people advocating less government in this case are the liberal types. lol. here, Sen D'Amato says it well: http://www.foxbusiness.com/video/index.html?playerId=videolandingpage&streamingFormat=FLASH&referralObject=5885742&referralPlaylistId=undefined Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  6. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/APNewsBreak-Group-says-poker-apf-15481559.html;_ylt=Al3H.fL.CjLeRdG3NJklRnW7YWsA?sec=topStories&pos=4&asset=&ccode now, there's a lot of background this story doesn't go into, or just gets wrong. 1. The seizure was done claiming violations of the Wire Act, which has already been determined by the courts to apply only to online sports betting, NOT poker. 2. The UIGEA, which doesn't go into effect until December of this year, does NOT outlaw internet gambling. It only makes it illegal for banks to accept/process payments to and from online gambling sites...with a further stipulation that it applies to "games of chance". 3. The Poker Players' Alliance (and Barney Frank's bill) maintain, with good evidence, that poker isn't a game of chance at all, but a game of skill. Anyway, all that aside, the larger issues here to me are internet freedoms, banking freedoms, and the stupidity of not regulating the industry rather than outlawing it. US players make up an estimated half of all online poker players...which is a $16BILLION industry. However...i suspect the REAL reason this was done was because brick and mortar casinos are hurting BADLY and want to force people out of their computer rooms and back to the poker rooms (even though poker is the least profitable game for the house). So will gambling be vilified as marijuana is, or will it eventually be regulated? 7. good choice. He'd be in my top 10 for sure, but right now i would have to replace him with Zachary Quinto (Sylar on Heroes and the new Spock ) Not only is he hot, he's whip smart and funny... *swoon* Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  8. lol Shah, you crack me up. Anyway, make sure he has a good desk light, since there ARE indeed people who go to college to...um...learn. And he might be one of them, who knows. Sorry, that's crazy talk. deep pile carpets, a wardrobe of well-fitting clothes, and some really expensive shoes. Girls dig that shit. ok, since apparently you can translate, tell me what this means: he uses it a lot and it baffles me. Not difficult to understand? Maybe if you live in Crazyland... Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  12. Flat earth people are idiots. They are wrong. Round earth is the truth. See, i can say that and you might agree....but they wouldn't. They'd say, "you're mean and arrogant! you should say 'flat earth people profess opinions that i disagree with!'" My point, of course, is that it's all a matter of perspective Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  13. ooooh!! I get it! he's the reincarnation of e.e. cummings! i always liked that guy's poetry... Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  14. ahhh...but what, then, is "opinion?" would me saying people who hold the "opinion" that the earth is flat are ignorant and unworthy of a response make me an Ivory tower Elitist? If so, then i guess I am. Sorry. See, if i responded to them by providing countless scientific studies, facts, observations, laws, etc...they would just say something like "that proves nothing, i need HARD EVIDENCE that the earth is round! Until then i refuse to change my 'opinion'". And then we're back where we started...me in my Ivory Tower and them on their flat earth, except now they are shouting at me and calling me an elitist jerk. Funny...that sounds a lot like SC. huh. 15. lol, it's really sad that my first thought on seeing that article in the news wasn't "wow, that's neat" or "they should sell them for more" but rather "how the heck are they getting away with that?" Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  16. why, because they're smarter than you? (seriously, you seem like a nice dude...but do you have to be such a stereotype?) Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

  18. let's see. based on my experience in government procurement and acquisition (which this falls under, trust me), FEMA probably had the following scenario: 1. "We have all these trailers we need to get rid of. Let's see if we can reuse or recycle them somehow" 2. OK, if you want to reuse them, they have to get inspected and certified. This will cost x dollars per trailer. 3. Dumping them will cost y dollars per trailer 4. what if we give them away to charity? Ah, legal fees for that cost z dollars per trailer. just as a guess, x >>> z > y >>>>> $0 5. can we sell them? yes, but then you have the question of where that money goes. You cannot just "put it back in the coffer". government spending doesn't work that way. What probably happened is somehow contracting and finance got together with legal to figure out a way to "sell" them in order to provide some kind of "slush fund" for FEMA. like for office supplies or something petty like that. When i was working at Kirtland AFB, we tried to find a way to donate used computers to charity. The legal and contractual wrangling required was sooo tedious and costly that in the end they just sat in storage....since disposing of them was even MORE expensive due to hazmat concerns. This is why i left my job, and why i'm trying my damnedest to find a job outside of the defense/government sector. 19. arrgh, now i feel like a horrible person. but trust me, i DON'T ignore her. There are just certain things in my life that are so far out of her realm of "normal" that explaining them crosses from "patient" to "tedious". Honestly, a lot of the stuff i don't want her to see because she's lived kind of a sheltered life and i hate to ruin that innocent quality she has that can actually be refreshing at times. 20. Anyone know of a way to block your updates from certain people on Facebook? I made the grievous error of accepting my Mother in law's friend request on there (honestly, how could i not? *cry*) and now every time i post an update she emails me about it asking what it means. Case in point...she now wants to know all about the American Boogie. what's that? where is it? argh. I know she's a bit lonely, but it's really getting ridiculous. Oh, and should any sort of...ahem...boogie "party" pics get posted and tagged...oh man, i don't want to think about it. Can i block her without removing her from friends? I know that sounds horrid and ungrateful and mean, but i'm not sure how much more i can take! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  21. yes. heaven forbid they be put to use rather than just trashed. where's the *roll eyes* emoticon? Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  22. lessee, using the generally accepted definitions in today's world... 1. Love the Lord. Generally considered to be a "conservative" view, i suppose. 2. Love your neighbor as yourself. Generally a liberal-leaning statement. He was a centrist! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  23. and seriously Marg, think of the exercise you'll get rolling vs, spraying! Free workout! I actually like painting (weird, i know) and i always use a roller and brushes, mainly because while i enjoy painting, i HATE prep and cleanup. 24. well, i don't know about standards and the industry, but it's pretty blatantly obvious that it's a movie about Spock. Based on *literary* ideas (like what i learned in English class) that character is the most dynamic and well-developed. And that's not just my extreme bias toward all things Zachary Quinto speaking, either. *drool* Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
