  1. I'll give you a $ if you can find B&B Airpark. Even MS can't have all the grass strips programmed! Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...

  5. Welcome back! What took you so long? I agree. Do FL w/tunnel. You'll come up to speed faster and with more confidence instead of trying to figure it out on your own after getting off student status. Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...
  6. Triathalon stock is rainbow-one with blue end cells and the other with purple. I sure am glad I don't have the purple. Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...

    ~Coach Jumps~

Thanks. That info ties in to a thread that popped up several weeks ago about stealing jumps from a "freefly" school. Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...

    ~Coach Jumps~

Although not "official" coach jumps, I try to watch for the graduating students at Spaceland and invite them to do small RW jumps. I just think introducing them to other jumpers as quickly as possible is a good thing.
  11. Yep, nothing like a little touch football in Texas. Coryatt was a good one for you guys, but Nguyen was my favorite Aggie. Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...

  16. Yeah and who is gona' argue with a guy carrying a loaded M-16 or whatever they call them these days? He could have told me to check myself and I may have tried it at the time. Wanted to get to The Ranch really bad. Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...
  17. At least my Z1 stayed on when my chin strapped popped off! They may not be as protective in impact as a ski helmet, but they are light weight and I got mine cheap. Except for the damn liner coming unglued and a bad riser burn behind my left ear in Eloy it has been worth it. Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...
  18. Continental was cool with it until 911. I liked carrying it because it always generated a lot of questions from strangers on the plane. Sure made the trips seem faster. In October though two of us had to pack our rigs in a checked bag (added insurance of $50 each way for $7500 total coverage) when security and NGuardsman told me that I could not carry the rig through security in Houston. Did not have it in a gear bag. We didn't even try in Newark. Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...
  19. Then what? The fun starts, you get more jumps? Or you work all the friggen time? Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...

  21. I thought the "before" method was the membership would vote on stuff and send their ballots to the board. The new method is that we will give our proxy to the board or someone who will attend and who will then vote on the various issues. Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...

    Gear Stores?

If you could stock your own gear store at your DZ what would you do to "legally" make it better than all the others out there? They all sell the same stuff at close to the same prices; some have better service than others. What do you want to see, what do you like, etc? The legal comment is for the poodle guys!!! Gemini ... 23. I think of a horseshoe mal like you do. You can get one from both a ripcord and a BOC, and both have different advantages and disadvantages depending on the situation at the time. I personally prefer the BOC because I have had the spring-loaded pilot on my back too! Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...
  24. I too was trained on a ripcord at SkydiveUSA in Waller. After graduation I went to the Ranch to jump with my son. The school at the Ranch wanted me to work with Sonic on using a BOC and do a jump with him before releasing me to jump ( I had about 20 jumps at the time all on ripcord). I had no problem with that and enjoyed getting to know Sonic and some of the other instructors. On the first throw out, I did it exactly as instructed. After being released to jump, I was told a story of an "old" guy who held the pilot chute without realizing it. On the very next jump, I pulled the hacky and held it for a second or two without really meaning to hold it. Don't know if it was in response to the "old" guy story or just me. Sonic had insisted that I continue to pull higher than normal until I was comfortable even after being released. I really appreciated his advice at the time. What I found to be the biggest change was not the throw, but the location of the BOC versus the ripcord. Several times I instinctively went for the hip location and then went to the BOC. Changing equipment can be one of the contributing factors or another link in the chain leading to an incident. Therfore, I agree with several others above...students need to be trained on the equipment they are going to be using. When they get out on their own they should be entirely familiar and comfortable with the equipment. Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...
  25. You did your 8000th and there is only one guy on the DZ with less than you? I need to visit your DZ. Must be a bunch of old jumpers there!!! Gemini ... Fear? Fear is riding the plane down ...
