I don't have anything here, but when I get home I will ask the MD and see where she points me and I'll let you know. Blue skies, Jim

If I work for almost a year to organize a big way, state record, etc. should I pay myself full price? If the answer is no, then where do I draw the line? Do plane captains get a free ride? Do video guys? If I invite BJ, Ponce, Kate, Dan or Tony to come do they get a free ride? I understand your position, but I also think there has to be some room to get the quality people you need to make the big way safe, fun and successful. Blues, Blue skies, Jim

Welcome! I was a little younger than you when I started, but my brother-in-law was older. We have been welcomed at every dz we visit and treated the same as any other jumper. Learn well, be safe and enjoy the sport. Blues, Jim Adv Tm 46 68-69 Dien Khanh

Thanks Terry my {oversight} bad. The key is that they be the proper lengths. Blue skies, Jim

And it is a pretty fair assumption to anyone who has read all the posts. And finally we can both agree on that point. Thanks for the lively discussion. Blues, Jim

My wife, an MD emergency room director, does drug research trials usually involving the elderly who have been diagnosed as terminal. Often there are not enough elderly patients to participate, so the first alternative is used: Anyone who is a 3+ year cocaine user in a terminal condition since their internal organs and circulatory systems would be equivalent to a 70 year old. If someone tosses their cutaway handle and takes a reserve ride, the cutaway handle is often lost and replaced. Experienced jumpers and riggers know that cutaway cable lengths vary between containers and container sizes and trim the cables as necessary to insure simultaneous riser release. In a recent incident a jumper cutaway and upon feeling the riser release deployed the reserve into the main that was trailing from an unreleased riser (one released, one didn't). Upon examination it was found that one of the cables was to long and had not fully extracted even though the other cable was completely disengaged. The cutaway handle was still hanging from the harness when examined even though the jumper was sure it fell away. Please, if you lose a cutaway make sure the cables on the new one are the correct length for your container. Talk to your rigger. Next time you need a repack, test your cutaway and the riser release sequence. Remember in a cutaway, pull the cables all the way out of the cable housings to insure riser release.

Talk about contradictory terms! You will die for truth and freedom, but you imply that there is no truth or freedom in our society because the government and anyone who participates in government or the military lies all the time, about everything, to everyone. Is there not one honest person out there who will or has stepped forward and do what is best for our country? Blue skies, Jim

Still no facts just inuendo and Hollywood make believe. Who got all the profits? Where are they? What were they doing this for? Blue skies, Jim

Unfortunately, I also agree with this K. Our political system does not breed statesment who place the country first. We have politicians who rise to the top by making promises they never intend to keep, change position depending on the latest poll, and place their own needs(through their polical party) bofore those of the country, Blue skies, Jim

And I am asking to see the research that you keep referring to and all you give me is jumk without support. Now let's discuss the real situation that has been blown way out of proportion by the media and hollywood: Did some CIA operatives or contractors ingage in illegal activities? Yes SOME did. Were drugs flown on CIA aircraft. Yes, drugs were discovered on some flights. Look at the situation at the time. Druglords ruled in the Golden Triangle. If you wanted to operate there you had to pay the toll whatever it was. It was a horrible situation and ruined many lives and careers. As Kallend pointed out earlier the end does not justify the means, but the truth was that some of the people would do anything to get the job done, other people were simply criminals acting under government cover. However these acts by some in the CIA (or in the name of the CIA) did not drive US foreign policy. Eleven cops shooting an unarmed civilian in New York doesn't mean the NYPD has a policy to shoot unarmed civilians. It means there is a problem with personnel, ethics or training that needs to be fixed. Blue skies, Jim

Anyone can name names and items that have been made into movies, but I asked for facts. Got any? Nope you didn't say that, so what? Blue skies, Jim

That's a good price for the container with the options you mentioned. I got the same options except for the RSL, pillow reserve handle, custom color toggles and reserve handle. Opted out of the cut in laterals since I am getting bigger in the middle. I had a 50% off coupon and all the options except stainless rings were free last June so my cost was lower. Blue skies, Jim

US backed Vietnamese against the Japanese. Ho Chi Minh was part of the package, but the US did not back Ho against the French even if the the OSS wanted to. Get your history straight. Please furnish me with provable facts if you can. I don't have to "believe" the govt story because I was there. Worked out of the Emassey annex in Nha Trang and have first hand experience. Flown by Air America many times. Where were you? Blue skies, Jim

This doesn't have anything to do with the thread. STFU. Blue skies, Jim

Nope you are not even close. The US backed the Vietnam Nationalists which included many factions one of which was Ho Chi Minh's group. Prior to WWII's end, Ho quietly started killing off the coalition member leadership so that his party could take over. When Ho requested US assistance to oust the French after the war's end, the US decided to back it's ally France over the Nationalists. In effect, the US allowed France to reimpose colonialism over the Vietnamese. That was our mistake that cost 58,000 American lives and 3-4 million Vietnamese lives. Nope, wrong again. The US individuals participating in the war eventually succumbed to the corruption and dollars which over the years became more and more prevalent. However the Vietnam war was not fought for drugs and money by the governments involved. You have listened to Hollywood for to long. Blue skies, Jim

I think one reason the arrow is not used at more dropzones is that it periodically has to be pointed in another direction. I know on the Gulf Coast we can get 90/180 degree shifts under light/variable conditions which play havoc with the students and some experienced jumpers. The dz must state the landing pattern to be used and enforce it. Coming in on final with canopies coming at you is not something that should ever happen. Blue skies, Jim

These guys were not conscientious objectors they were draft dodgers and felons. A conscientious objector was a person who once drafted petitioned the draft board as a conscientious objector. Some served honorably in the military as medics, some were given alternative service, some served with the chaplains service, some petitions were denied, some served jail time...but they were all willing to stand and defend the postion. They did not run and hide. Blue skies, Jim
