We had a Chow/Shepard mix who was very smart and well behaved who would go after another cat even when her cat was sitting right there next to her. I am not sure if the dog thought she was a cat or the cat thought she was a dog. But I would have never brought another cat to the house knowing the dog was there. Blue skies, Jim

I can see this for dz owned rigs, but why would a dz take on this liability? If a rig does not get timely repacked under this policy and the jumper is injured due to a reserve problem, I bet a court or jury would rule in favor of the jumper at the expense of the dz and rigger. Blue skies, Jim

Wendy, I'm telling Trent tonight that if I ever am bed ridden or getting ready to check out to call you for me! Blue skies, Jim

Sunday was a slow day at the dz since many of the jumpers were still at nationals. Trent and I finally got to jump together on the sunset load. Neither of us could decide what we wanted to do so we decided to try and launch a hybrid. I stood in the door looking out and Trent took my chest strap with his left hand and was also looking out. I did a 3 count with my arm and we launched with both of us flat (belly to wing) to the wind. On the hill Trent slid down the hill and rotated me belly to earth still on my chest strap with his left hand. The amazing thing about the exit was its stability. It was smooth out the door and felt good rotating off the hill. Then it was a typical two way hybrid except Trent was hanging with only one hand which allowed him a lot of additional controlled movement. He flipped up out of the stand, rotated above me and then stood on my back. Then stepped off my back on the opposite side and while I held position, he rotated around me clockwise. What was amazing was that he faced me at all times during the rotation. What a fun jump! Wish we would have had video. Blues, Blue skies, Jim

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A woman pleaded guilty to third-degree assault Thursday for biting off a piece of her boyfriend's tongue in the midst of a kiss. Pamela D. Johnson told police that she had argued with Larry Sylvester early June 16 in the bedroom of her St. Paul apartment. When the argument ended, Sylvester tried to make up by hugging and kissing her, but Johnson said she became fearful and "bit down a little too hard" on his tongue, according to a criminal complaint. Sylvester, who at one time was engaged to Johnson, was taken to Regions Hospital (search), where doctors found that the front third of his tongue was missing. Police couldn't find the bitten piece, and Johnson told officers that she doesn't remember what happened to it. In her plea Thursday, she did not admit to assaulting Sylvester but agreed that there is sufficient evidence for a jury to find her guilty. She will be sentenced Nov. 16 by Ramsey County District Judge Marybeth Dorn. Third-degree assault carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine, according to the state statute. Compiled by FOXNews.com's Paul Wagenseil. Blue skies, Jim

Spoke to the rigger who examined the equipment and there is more to the story than just the cable length. Apparently the container originally had soft cable housings. At some point hard cable housings were installed. They are not Sunpath housings and are approximately 4-6 inches longer than spec. The surprising thing is the housing material used will stretch a lot more than the Sunpath housing. It looks like a pull on the cutaway does not even begin cable extraction until the pillow is pulled 6 or more inches, then at least another 6 inches after normal pull length were needed to fully extract. Agree with how well it is cared for. These rigs are easy to spot since they are clean, velcro (if any) is in good shape or replaced, no stiffeners or broken or show through the fabric, material on edges and around grommets shows no wear, harness threads are intact, metal parts have no burrs or other damage, pc pouch elastic is in good shape or replaced, etc. There are lots of other things... I didn't really mean to limit the context to only war only that there seemed to be a distinction in the language between what constituted to kill and to murder. As someone above pointed out, it included self-defense and protection of one's property as well. Blue skies, Jim

Ummhhh..... Reminds me of the tags that are added by the manufacturer to explosives which do help in an investigation by identifying the manufacturer, seller and sometimes the purchaser. Blue skies, Jim

Unfortunately, I believe the difference was that you could [should?] kill your enemies in war, but killing anyone outside of war was defined as murder. Blue skies, Jim

Would you trust a dental school student to work on your teeth?
gemini replied to weegegirl's topic in The Bonfire
I used the UT Houston Dental School clinic after I graduated and before I made any money. Had a friend who was a senior at the school at the time. Everything was fine except it was by the book! This meant a lot of testing and appointments to get to the point where they would just pull my wisdom teeth. Blue skies, Jim -
Along the Gulf Coast we get towering Cumulus Congestus (pinnacle) clouds at certain times of the year. I have had several opportunities to fall next to one of these pinnacles from exit to deployment. The tops of these monsters are well above 15K. The sense of speed you get is startling. At sunset when the cloud is gold, yellow, pink, red and rust would really make a great photo. I have seen a video of Anomaly flying next to one and then tracking away and it is pretty phenomenal. Blue skies, Jim

Ok hope I don't get flamed for this, but why can't there be both? How long is one of God's days? However long he wants it to be I would think. Blue skies, Jim

Perris used to have two webcams. Don't know if they still are up. One was on manifest window and the other was the landing area. Blue skies, Jim

The key is to have the cables the proper length. If they are to long, someone with short arms may not be able to them all the way out, BUT as previously stated earlier "Remember in a cutaway, pull the cables all the way out of the cable housings to insure riser release." Blue skies, Jim
