Approved Step through? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Hey Chelle, Congratulations on your first wingsuit flight. Having said that, are your jump numbers and time in the sport, specified in your profile, accurate? I would imagine so seeing how specific your breakdown of jumps per discipline and your total jump numbers are. The most important things to have when jumping wingsuit are currency and experience. I don't know you but with approximately 50 jumps per year in the sport, would it be fair to say you have a minimum of both? I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, you may be very capable, just be careful, that's all (anyone feel I'm being over-sensitive?). There is no rush in this sport, in fact, taking one's time will usually reap bigger benefits... When you say you demo'ed a suit, how much supervision did you have? I think the Espace Boogie WITH the AN72 would be a damn sight easier (and I've been to Russia...twice). Maybe not as cheap, but for all round convenience,,, Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Yank his PFI rating! (Then I'll buy his Prodigies off him cheap, rather than just using them for free all the time!) :-P Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Shameless bump to say there is still (just!) time to get your tickets for the Brit Chicks for the Cause raffle that is being drawn this weekend. We've also had a late addition to the raffle prizes; after already supporting the main JFTC event with prizes, Apex BASE have donated 50% off a First Jump Course with them which is absolutely awesome!! Check out the full list of prizes and buy some tickets. If you are not based in the UK we will automatically return any "local" prizes such as repacks etc to the draw. We'll also have to come to some agreement about exchange rates and postage, but don't let that deter you when we have all these awesome prizes! Don't delay, there's not much time left! Good luck everyone! Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

At a very quick glance I saw at least 15 people on the list who post regularly enough on dropzone.com for me to recognise them. I recognised more people who do or have posted on the "proper" BASE forums such as BLiNC or the FBA. I don't think so, it's just most people don't feel the need to shout about it publically. Or maybe they are even embarrased to post here! :-P Me, I just can't help myself. :-) See you in a few weeks... Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

All of those registered have received a list of the participants, and the gondola "manifest". Not all of the registration numbers are consecutive and it appears that just over 100 are actually registered. It looks like a good bunch registered and I'm looking forward to seeing some old friends. The Brits will be around a couple of days before and after the boogie but there is another BASE boogie for some of us to get through first! I jumped Mr. Kellett's Prodigy for the second time this weekend and was impressed by the performance. Neptune says I exited at 13800 feet, deployed at 2700 and was in freefall for 140 seconds with an average speed of 53 mph (51, 55, 67, 35 at 12k, 9k, 6k, 3k). I know it's all about the glide ratio and not about the float (afterall, Yuri can make it to the bar at the Italian Terminal wall in one) but I wonder what sort of other times/speeds people are getting on a Prodigy? I'll have to take my GPS next time to get some glide ratio data. For the record, I weigh 76 kilos (168 lbs) naked and I'm 180 cms tall (5' 11"). I found the suit very easy to float but a lot harder to glide. I found the suit quite sensitive to an agressive body position and felt like I wanted to tip head down when I tried. What am I doing wrong or is it that I'm used to a lot higher leg pressure from the larger surface area and bootied leg wing on an S3? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

Are there any con's to having colour coded lines?
cpoxon replied to Newbie's topic in Gear and Rigging
Yeah, you look like a student! :-P Just to clarify, the lines have coloured tabs, not actually coloured lines right? Have you got packing tabs as well? ;-P Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live -

This weekend is the annual Weston Wingsuit Festival at RAF Weston on the Green. It will be the usual mix of getting the first timers briefed and up in the air as well as the more experienced guys getting together for some flocking. We'll have the usual selection of Classics, GTis, and Skyflyers on hand for first flights and demos. Also, that nice man, Mr Darren Kellet, has lent me his medium and large sized Prodigy demos. Thanks Darren (hope to see you there sunday). If you are coming along for your first flight, please read the British Parachute Association's Guidelines for Jumping Wing-Suits to make sure you are eligible. Any questions please feel free to contact myself or Fordy See you there! Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

FFS, yes it does. You are right, the original post doesn't refer to the whole deployment method, but it does refer to the handle. With the Wings freefly handle, the design is based on the pull-out style (the low-profile handle is tucked/secured away, and the handle must be extracted before pilot chute can be) so when drawing the comparison it is appropriate to call it a pud to differentiate it from the standard hackey which is unsecured, and bulkier. What would you call it? Henri refers to it as a "freestyle handle". Does that mean one should call it something else if one is flat-flying in a Wings? Because on the Wings handle the stiffener is wedged under the flap that closes around the bottom of the container. If the handle was sown all across the apex, there would be no flap to wedge, unless it was sown half way up and a crease put in it. I think this is where the confusion is arising; I have seen newer Javelin's with pud style handles that are sown to the top of the pilot chute but they are solely contained in the BOC and do not use the side flap to wedge it? Hmm could do. But I'd still like to know how to bungee it, because it is bugging the hell out of me now!! Yes, I think the chances of damage are fairly slim, especially with even halfway carefull packing, but it is a simple (or so I thought!) thing to do, so might as well.... It's not a link, it's a ring, sown into the bridle (Rigging Innovations Voodoo), so I'd need a rigger to do it, as it is on the canopy, but I might do that. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
