Well said!! While I cant say that Paris is a Victim (She does seek the attention), I don’t recall hearing about anything she has done that hurt others. She got in trouble for DUI and the Driving on a suspended License. Something probably close to half the people I know have done. I am not defending her.. Agreed. It was more than Just the Unions. Poor Management, Underestimating the intelligence of the American Public and Failing to adapt to new technology all Contributed. Yep. There was a Time when Unions were very necessary in this country when there were not Labor Laws in place. That time is LONG gone. The Unions did choke the US Auto Industry to the point that they could not make a better product. It became impossible for them to compete with Non-Union manufacturers. While I agree most of the problems with American cars came from Poor Design and engineering and horrible management. Much of that was caused by having to design cars that Over paid and under motivated Union Help could assemble. Combine that with Seniority Rules where an aging work force was given priority over younger more energetic and motivated workforce also helped lead to the point that most people knew that anything coming out of Detroit was CRAP. Also Core philosophy Difference between Japanese and American Companies contributed. Japanese Companies would build a Part to Spec and then look for ways to improve the process and the quality. American Companies would build a part to Spec and then look for a way to make it Cheaper. I deal with manufacturing plants every day (I sell Engineering Software designed for Manufacturing Plants). I have many customers in Auto Industry both Union and Non-Union Plants. The difference is amazing going from one plant where the work force is motivated, happy and productive (Non-Union) to the Next plant where it generally seems that everyone is sitting around arguing, glum and scared to do anything for fear of getting a Grievance filed against them. Non-Union Shops where change is embraced and accepted and a Union Shop where any change will be fought by the unions especially if it means reducing Labor costs.

Royal Purple has been around for quite a while. They are big supporters of Sportsmen Class Drag Racing and Jr Dragsters. They have a lot of different Products and a good Reputation at the Drag Strips I used to Race at. I never used them so I cant comment personally but I wouldn’t hesitate to try them based on their reputation. In general I would Use just about ANY Oil on the market with one exception... Quaker State. Every engine I ever tore down that had used Quaker State was Sludged to hell and back.

Maybe it is time to try again. I think more people now understand that Canopy Control Courses Benefit everyone and not just HP Canopy pilots. Of course none of this addresses the issue of HP Canopy Pilots swooping in and around slower traffic. Which is why we need some clear rules on when that is appropriate. Not just leaving it up to the individual Jumper to determine if they think they might be able to thread that needle.

How about amend the B-License Requirements to include a Requirement for completion of a Specified Canopy Control Course? Maybe add an additional requirement for the A License that a Jumper must demonstrate a proper landing pattern on X number of Jumps? Include questions on the A License test about Spiraling over the LZ and S-turns on Final. Those would help but does nothing to address the issue of very experienced Jumpers doing HP Landing in and around slower Traffic. The only thing that will help THAT problem is a consistent rule that says when it is and is not appropriate to do a HP Landing in the main landing area. Leaving it up to the Judgment of the individual Jumpers to make that decision isn’t working. DZO`s don’t want to say “hey, you cant do that here” because then the jumper will just go down the road to the next DZ that lets them get away with it. If we had a consistent recommendation (BSR) for when it is and is not safe to do a HP Landing in regards to slower traffic in the area (Separation in Time and/or Area), Then the S&TA`s could do something. Till then we leave it open for the jumper to just say “Show me where it says I cant do that.”

I didn’t say Give up, I just want to make sure people understand that this undefined nebulous "Education" that people keep referring to will have little effect at all on the Skygod that already knows it all. He will continue to do what has been doing, Especially if it isn’t even against the Rules. It will also have little to no effect on the new (and Old for that matter) jumpers that Spiral down over the LZ and S Turn on final. You cant teach Common Sense, You can Teach the Rules. Then if people choose to ignore the Rules, Someone must take action. (S&TA and or Other Jumpers)

Not demonizing anyone. Just cant understand how so many people are saying that it is OK to Swoop throgh Traffic. (This statement is just as Valid as those that are claiming people are trying to Ban Swooping) All these are Bad things and must be addressed and addressed in the same manor. If someone does these things, They should be grounded. We have rules that tell us NOT to do these things. It says so right in the SIM. No where in the SIM do I see where it says don’t Do HP Landings through Slower traffic. Right now at many DZ`s it is up to the individual Swooper if they think it is clear enough in the main landing area for them to do a HP Landing. What I am saying is that I do not trust their judgment to make that call. We need standard and simple guidelines for when it is and is not OK to Swoop the main landing area. Read the responses here, Many of them dont care if others are in the air, They are going to swoop no matter what. They feel it is just as much their right to swoop as it is our right to land safely. If we are in their way, it is because we did something wrong. BULLSHIT!! If you want to Swoop, Go for it. Just do it in a safe area away from slower canopies. Other issues like S Turns and Spiraling down over the LZ need to be addressed too but we do already have rules that say DONT Do That. Now we asking for a Rule that says Dont swoop through Traffic. Enforcing these rules is a different matter. Maybe what we really need is to just place a few Baseball Bats in the landing area. If someone does S Turns, Spirals Down over the LZ and/or Swoops through Traffic, Just pick up the nearest Bat and make sure they dont do it again for a while. If the S&TA`s will not enforce the rules, Someone has to. Oh.. Wait.. There isnt even a rule that says Dont Swoop through Traffic.. Nevermind.

I keep hearing this nebulous "Education" over and over. You can Train and Educate some people till you are blue in the face. It will not change a thing. Some people will NOT learn. No Amount of Training or Education in the world will give someone common sense. The ONLY thing that will work for these people is to make sure they understand that if They Swoop through Slower Traffic, they will be Grounded. You cant “Educate” a Skygod. They already know everything.
