That is NOT what happened here according to the article. THIS Issue was parents and friends Cheering after they were asked not too. The schools are finally taking a stand on this. Yes, This can be abused in the future but that does not appear to be the case here. In fact the article goes on to say that all the school wanted was an apology but the parents refused and are threatening legal action. Great Fuckin Parents is more like it. Lets teach our kids hey we can break the rules, disrespect the other graduates and if the school does what they told us they would do, We just call in the lawyers. It is just a symbol. What matters is what that paper represents. No one is taking that from these kids. To really answer that question you need to fill in alot more variables. 1) How much have they had to drink? 2) Have there been any leprechaun sighting? 3) What phase in the Moon in? 4) Have Beth been Drinking anything OTHER than Jack? 5) Which direction is the wind blowing at the moment? It would be an Improvement however some people really like to cling to long held traditions. Who "gives a Shit" is the parents of the other kids that are abiding by the rules and would like to hear their Childs name when it is called and not some rude people hooping and hollering for the kid called right before theirs. A little decorum for a ceremony to honor a major achievement. Each Graduate is entitled to the same respect. If parents and friends cant appreciate that then action should be taken. The idea that you hold applause until the end of the Names is pretty standard now. This is explained at the beginning of the ceremony. Smaller schools where they are not trying to get 500+ graduating seniors across the stage in a reasonable amount of time, May have the flexibility to allow cheering for each student. Larger schools do not have that luxury. Rules will have to be more strictly enforced.
