This thread was spun off a Thread in the Incidents Forum when someone said "Two Hand per Handle" was the industry standard and Chicagoland was the only DZ teaching One hand oper handle that that the poster knew of. I strongly suspected that that statement wasn’t true. From the looks of this poll it is fairly close to 50/50 which would indicate that there is no "Industry standard". I don’t disagree that two hands may be the better method for FJC Students for many reasons. There is less chance of out of sequence deployment, a greater chance that the student will fully cut away(Punch, Strip) and fewer issues with hard pull. Weigh that against the possibility of not finding the reserve handle using the one hand method.. When on Student rigs there are 2 backups to the reserve handle (RSL and then AAD) neither should be counted on but these are FJC Students and it seems to me that two hands would be the safer method. What I am hoping to find out in this thread is not so much what you Learned (Many of you learned a long time ago on equipment that is no longer used) but "What is CURRENTLY being taught at you DZ to FJC Students".

We could go back and forth forever.. If you cant see the difference between Armed Robbery (An Intentional VIOLENT Criminal Act) and DUI (Non-Violent Unintentional) Accident.. Then there is nothing either of us can say that will make any sense at all to the other.

Suggestions: 1) Invest in a case of Beer and hang out after Jumping hours. As you hand someone a beer mention you have been having trouble finding people to jump with. 2) Ask Manifest if there any Load organizers at your DZ or Tell Manifest you are looking for someone to jump with. Still have trouble finding people to jump with?? Find a different DZ and repeat the first two steps.

Intent. One you are committing a Violent Crime and someone gets Killed. The other you are Committing a Crime (Non-Violent) and someone is killed. An argument can be made that both were accidents, But sticking a gun in someone’s face and threatening to kill them.. and doing just that is very different than an Accident that you had no intention of hurting someone.

What I am saying is that there are Levels. Civil Cases - Preponderance of Evidence. Criminal Cases - Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. I think Capitol cases should be Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt. yes.

And I think the persons history is completely relevant. A Situation like this one, If were a First offence I would be much more likely to be lenient. However if the guilty party had a history of such behavior, It makes a huge difference. I do think most people deserve a second chance.. I do not think they are entitled to a 5th, 6th or 7th Chance.

Violent crimes where an Innocent person was killed. If they are commiting a Violent Crime while peddling Dope and someone is killed, Sure. The most sick and Violent of all crimes. Absolutely. fortuanately the other inmates generally do this service for us when they get to prison. Save alot of time and money. I would like to start an incentive program though.. For each Child molester an Inmate Kills, they get one year off thier sentance. If they are commiting a Violent Crime and someone gets killed.. DO it. We used to Hang Horse theives. But I guess I am getting to liberal in my old age. I Wouldnt unless they used VIOLENCE to steal the car and an innocent person got killed. Then, Absolutely.

Again.. You bring up Innocent. This guy is not innocent as you agreed. I don’t want to see any innocent people die. Innocent people are the Victims of the criminals. The instances of a TRULY Innocent person being executed are extremely small. And yes I want to see that number down to NONE. In the meantime, If a Jury of 12 people can say "Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt" that the person is Guilty of a capitol offence, and then they have exhausted their appeals (Generally about 10 years), Then carry out the sentence.

You keep bringing up "Innocent Victims". The ONLY innocent Victims in this case are the ones that were Robbed at Gun Point and KILLED by this guy and his friends. Do we agree on that?? Do you agree that this guy is NOT innocent? Then why do you keep bringing up Innocent Victims? Do you think we should lock up killers in a box till they die of natural causes? I personally think executing them is much more humane. If you truly are not going to ever release them, End their misery. If you are going to release them, Them you are going to be in reality KILLING truly innocent people as the VAST majority of violent criminals that have served time WILL Commit additional Violent Crimes once released.
