  1. NO. They Don’t. That is a fallacy. It just means the Government has less money to piss away so maybe they will make better decision on what to do with what they have. (I know I am still dreaming here) We have way too many taxes as it is and our "elected officials" continue to spend more than they have. Even if they had MORE money, they would still spend more than they have. Clearly they don’t really NEED all the money they currently collect, If they did they would use it more wisely. I understand that taxes must be paid. I have no problem paying my share, I just don’t like the idea that they want to take what was MINE (Earned, Taxes Paid) when I die. Whoever I leave it to will either grow that money or they will squander it away. Either way the government will still get tax it as it goes back into circulation. If someone inherits millions, It doesn’t effect you or I generally. I would much rather see that money go to someone that may do actually do something with it as opposed to going to a fiscally irresponsible government. Republican or democrat does really matter, They are all guilty of wasting Tax payer dollars and they spending more than they have. That would not happen. That does not happen even if you dont count the inheritance tax. Even at a lousy 5% annual return on that $5 Mil they are making $250K a year subject to CapitAl gains. They will be paying alot more in taxes. Another fallacy.
  2. Absolutely although I have never been lucky enough to stumble on an arsenal quite that big in one place at one time. I saw several generations of family there, Bonding, teaching gun safety and blowing off some steam. Looked like a blast to me (And I will bet there was Killer Fried Chicken and Potato salad there too. Them Women can COOK!!)
  3. Absolutely. The current Administration has actually been worse than the dems when it comes to this. But this also means You dont FIRST raise taxes. Keep them the same, mandate a balanced budget and schedule future tax reductions.
  4. Turtle had no luck at all with holes this weekend. First he tries to break his foot by finding a small hole while landing, Then this morning as we were leaving the Farm to take him to the airport (Still dark out) he doesnt see the big mud puddle in the parking lot, Steps in it, Fall and lands on his camera case Breaking a couple ribs. (Sober even!!)
  5. I am curious if you really think this way or just put words in peoples mouths (Figurative speaking) for the sake of argument.. You have done that atleast 3 times in this thread already. Noone ever said anything about a free ride. Simply that ONE of many taxes should be minimized. Not just for Farmers but for everyone. We have plenty of Taxes, The Government does NOT need more, they get plenty from Income Taxes, Property Taxes, Sales Taxes and Capitol Gains. Then they waste what they have. Cutting spending on pork barrel projects, inefficient government organization, non-essential social programs, and other government waste would be much better for everyone. This argument started when someone suggested a 95% Inheritance tax, which is ridiculous in my opinion. The Government will get more than their fair share of that money without having to Tax the estate and/or Inheritance. They taxed the money when it was earned, Thay taxed the money as it Grew (Capitol gains), They will get to tax it again as it gains interest, they will get to tax it again when it is spent, They will get to tax it again as income when someone else earn that money and the cycle will continue. At some point, enough is enough.
  6. To SC in 3. 2. 1... And Yes. It does.
  7. And there is the real problem. The more money our Government has, the more ineffective they become. They don’t even bother to stop spending more than they know they well have. Our Government should live by the same rules as the rest of us. If you only have X dollars coming in, You can only spend X dollars. This would FORCE congress to actually make rational decisions on where the money should be spent. (Yes, I know I am REALLY dreaming on that one) Yes, We must pay taxes, Yes the Government needs money to run but they need to keep wasteful spending under control. Not just give them More money so they can waste that too. On that I agree. But what happens in reality is that that the government takes money from those that work for it and gives it people that do not. I am not just referring to welfare programs which are such a small part of the over all picture. There are MANY cases where the people inheriting the money just squander it away and/or just never contribute anything back to society. Our government will get their Cut as they do that. But many people that inherit significant fortunes do actually grow the fortune and in cases like the Family Farm or Small Business (That can easily exceed the $2 Million “Value”) many times the person inheriting the Farm or Business has worked on or with that business for many years. They are paying their Taxes, they are paying their Dues in the Family Business and then someone dies and they have to sell everything to pay the Taxes on what was already taxed many times over. That is the problem with the inheritance tax.
  8. I am glad I don’t get all the government I pay for. We pay Income Tax, We pay Capitol Gains Tax, We Pay property Tax, We pay sales Tax. At some point, enough is enough. If we live a Smart Life and manage to save some money and/or acquire property that all these Taxes were already paid on, we should be able to leave that to a someone with the Government trying to tax it more. I haven’t read ANYONE here even come close to saying we should have to pay Taxes. The argument is over the Inheritance Tax and was started when someone made the ridiculous claim that the Tax should be 95%. The land that many Family Farms are on is worth more than 2 Million depending on location. That doesn’t mean that the Family working it has a dime. Just that property values have increased. If the Farmer Dies and leaves the Farm to his Kids that may also live and work on that farm, the inheritance tax can cause then to loose the farm completely. And No I don’t think this should apply to just Farmers. Giving the Government more money is NOT the answer to most problems. Our Government is already way too bloated as it is. Bush has been just as bad as a Lefty when it comes to spending money we don’t have for things we don’t need. Everyone should pay their fair share. The real argument starts what is fair.
  9. WTF makes a Genuine Assault Rifle?? If I change the stock on one of my SKS Rifles from the wooden stock to the Fiberglass, Does that make it a Genuine Assault Rife (Well according to the Brady Bill it did.) A "Grenade" made in a plastic shell with Gun powder, Fuse and BB`s.. Would not be much more than a Sparkler when lit. (Trust me on this I tried all kinds of ways when I was a Kid to get this to work. Never did more than shoot Flames and Sparks for about 12 inches) Talk about grandstanding over a Bunch of Toys. As for charges against the mother.. That is absurd. If that is the case they need to come to Georgia and arrest just about every Father in any rural area because around here just about everyone gets a Hunting rifle before they are 14. What is the difference between a Hunting rifle and an Assault Rifle? The stock, Oh and generally the Assault rifle is LESS powerful. This story is just ridiculous. A kid with a Bunch of BB guns.
  10. But shouldnt that money be taxed too?? Like they said, It isnt yours anymore. You are dead. It should all go to the Government. Another questions to the one that think the govenrment is entitled to all (or 95%) of my belongings when I die, What if I am married? By default I would be leaving that money to my wife, Should she have to pay 95% (Or any of it for that matter) of it to the Government?n Or should she just pay the 95% Tax on half of it since the other half was sort of already hers?
  11. What about my family air looms? Are they no longer mine too? We are back to "If you die, Should the government get everything I owned?" Wanna see a militia get "Up in arms", Try enforcing that. Yes, and it will be taxed again and again as it is spent and/or gains interest. But me leaving my money that all taxes have been paid on to a family member is NOT putting that money in circulation where it will indeed be taxed again and again.
  12. If their business failed, Most likely they made some bad decisions somewhere. Maybe the business itself was a bad decision or maybe they didn’t adapt to a changing environment. Cutting costs is key to maintaining and growing wealth. If the employee being cut can do things better than the one cutting them, They are free to start their own company. I will use your husband as an example. Immigrant that came here with nothing. Started his own business and seems to be doing well. But if he lost a few contracts, Shouldn’t he be able to cut a few employees? If he found a more efficient way to get the work done and cut down the people he needed, Shouldn’t he do just that??
  13. I hate it when I find that I agree with you completely on something. Makes me really question my logic. But as much as it pains me to admit.. I agree.
  14. So If I go out and Earn $1 Million, Pay all the taxes on that money at the time I earn it. Shouldn’t it be mine to do with as I please? I earned it. I paid the taxes on it. Just because I give it to someone else, Why should it be taxed again? Basically you are saying that when you die, All your belongings should goto the Government.
  15. I dont seem to remember suggesting that at all. I work hard and hope to leave a substantial sum to my daughter one day In which I hope that she takes and grows it further. That is the American dream isnt it? I dont see this as wrong. Nor do I think the government has a right to Tax that money after it has already been taxed when I earned it. Other people that want money can get theirs same way I got mine, By working for it and making good decisions. Taking from the rich to give to the poor seems like a noble thing however is does a great disservice to the poor if you ask me as the money will just end up going back to the rich unless you teach the poor how to make better decision instead of depending on hand outs (and money taken from others). Thus you get the inherent flaw with democracy. Democracy only works until the politicians figure out they can buy your votes with your own money.
  16. First you have to accept that it was NOT the Gun that did this. It was a mentally ill person that did this. If (and this is a HUGE "if") a Gun was not available, they would have used some other tool. Fire, Bomb, Poison.. Lots of other ways to meet their objectives. Most of which would actually cause much MORE pain and destruction. Also just making Guns illegal does NOT make them go away. It just puts guns solely in the hand of criminals. I doubt Criminals will be doing much of a background check. As for the Armed Militia, I always considered the right to bear Arms as much of a protection from our own government as from other Invaders. Nothing quite keeps a Government in line as the knowledge that the Governed are well armed.
  17. I agree with that. I wasn’t saying the exact same people would have the majority of the money, Just that the percentages would quickly return to the same (10% of the population controlling 90% of the wealth). What I did mean was that people that are SMART enough to make good decision (Finish School, Good education, Make good investments, Financial Planning, making the right Social Contacts, Networking and other smart decisions) will do much better than those that make poor decisions. Those people will generally over time grow wealth and people that poor decisions (Poor Career Choices, Lack of Education, Poor Work Ethic, ect) will continue to lose wealth. This is certainly not an absolute and many examples on either side can be made, but over time money will generally flow from those that make bad decision to those that make good decisions. Thus the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer.
  18. Wow!! You mean that some people are actually smarter than others?? I never would have guessed. Some people actually make good decisions that pay off while others make poor decisions?? I am Shocked. The rich getting richer and poor getting poorer is not something new. I think it has always been that way and always will. If you took all the money in the world and even distributed it, Within just a few years we would be right back where we started with a small percentage having the vast majority of the money. Why is that?? See my first two statements.
  19. That is the best description of Skyride that I have heard yet.
